Safeway

We love this Safeway! When searching for a home to buy, we loved that this was still our closest grocery store. We especially love the deli/​sandwich bar. Around the Fall season is when they add cranberry back into their sandwich bar!!! De-​lish!

If I could give this store MORE than 5 stars, I would! Today, I shopped and had a large order. Somehow, one of my bags of groceries did not make it to my car/​apartment. I called and spoke to Alex (I think she is an assistant manager), and explained what happened. She went WAY beyond the extra mile to take care of my situation, and to make me a happy customer. I started out angry because of the error, now I am feeling so grateful that people like this work in stores that serve so many customers. I HIGHLY recommend this store! Thank you to Alex and Tim, in particular, who took extra time to take care of me.

No complaints here except that it’s busy most of time and little parking lot. But I don’t mind a Lil walk. My favorite thing about this Safeway is the organic raw food selection. It’s not big but good enough size to fit my vegan diet. Employees so far seem friendly n helpful. I recommend!

I really want to like this store because of the location. But they are always out of something EVERY time I visit. I’ve been shopping here for over a year and I’m not looking for random items, I’m looking for cucumbers! Or corn, or walnuts! The produce quality is extremely poor and already going bad. I’ve complained to management about being out of stock in certain foods and the quality of produce, but nothing ever changes.
I’m no longer shopping here and will drive the extra miles for a store that has the products I need and the better quality items.

The main grocery store is clean. The employees are welcoming and helpful. Stay away from the Deli however. The employees talk in another language between themselves when customers engage them. They do not monitor the hot cases and if you do not watch the time cooked you are likely to be buying product that has sat under lights for 4 or more hours and is very dry. The meatloaf, even when labeled as fresh is black around the edges. I was in today. The chicken in the warming areas was marked as being cooked 4 hours prior. When I asked for fresh– I was told take it or leave it. I asked when they might be cooking fresh– the clerk started speaking to someone in the back in another language and walked away without responding to me. The Deli plus the poor parking area cost 2 stars

Of the local Safeways, this location is one of my favorites. The staff is friendly and helpful, there is ample parking near the store. The gas station has affordable pricing (at the time of this writing it is under $ 3/​gallon).

This Safeway is pretty clean, well-​organized, and the staff are friendly. They happened to carry the kind of floss I liked, which was great because I haven’t been able to find it lately. I generally use the self-​checkouts because it’s a lot faster than even the express lanes. Last time, the machine was a bit wonky, so the lady working there was nice enough to try to help me even though it ended up just being a computer glitch.

This was a quick trip so I’m only commenting on the sections of the store I visited.
As far as grocery stores go, this one pretty much meets the standard.
The layout of part of the store is a bit odd; the health/​personal care section is distinct and has shorter shelves than the rest of the store for no discernible reason, and about a third of the store (the chips/​cereal/​Mexican food aisles) have aisles that are half-​length and staggered, while the rest of the store had the ordinary long aisles that run from the front of the store to the back.
Customer service was good; we had to ask where a few things were because they weren’t always shelved intuitively, but the staff were quick to help.
There’s also a juice bar and Starbucks (of course) inside the store, and plenty of parking outside.

I go to this Safeway several times a week. Recently I had an issue with a gift card and was not getting any help with Safeway’s gift card corporate office. I brought the issue up with Donna in Customer Service. She and Stan, the store manager, worked to resolve my issue for me and I am so appreciative. They were empathetic and cheerful about it too-​great customer service so I am even more a FAN of Juanita Safeway!!!

I just moved to the area (well, I lived two miles away previously) and this is now my store.
Things I like:
1. Convenient — less than a mile from my house, yay! I can walk when it’s warmer.
2. Nice layout — seems bigger than my last Safeway, but may just be the layout. I’m trying to get used to where things are, which is pretty much the same as most with slight differences.
3. Gas station — nice set up for longer lines, my previous safeway had no holding area for waiting, you were just in the parking area taking up space.
Things I am not in love with:
1. Parking — It just feels crampy and there a big slope at the back end of the lot — not the best thing for loading your car with runaway shopping carts.
2. I think that’s it.

I like this store because it’s convenient and has a gas station and pharmacy. Rarely have a problem finding what I need.
Unfortunately, customer service could be improved tremendously. Visited this evening at around 10:30pm, and the cashier was extremely rude and snapped at the customer in front of me… All because they wanted to exchange some fresh basil that had gone bad before the expiration date. Come on, it’s a couple bucks. Shouldn’t be that hard.
I don’t like shopping at places where the employees act like they’re being tortured just by being there. If you don’t like your job, or at least pretend to like it, you should quit and get another one. Customer service is important when there are several other grocers in the area. I’ll take my business elsewhere from now on.

This Safeway store is a mixed bag for me. It would almost be worth rating the separate parts of it separately.
The big pluses:
1. Gas. Their basic price is pretty cheap but if you buy $ 100 in groceries they’ll knock twenty cents off the price of each gallon of gas. This ends up saving me a couple of bucks on a fill up.
2. Pharmacy. You can get your prescriptions filled while you buy the rest of your groceries. Very handy.
3. Selection. It was big before the expansion, now the place is ginormous.
The big minuses.
1. Parking. They apparently determined that a lot of their parking lot was going to waste, so they expanded the store into it. Now, what’s left of the parking lot is barely big enough. It’s bad enough that I have to cruise the parking lot at Costco to find a spot, but at Safeway? C’mon!
2. China Express. The food in this section is frighteningly bad. I ordered an orange chicken rice bowl. The bright orange color should have warned me off like the culinary equivalent of caution tape, but I went for it. I’m guessing that the chicken started out under the heat lamps in the deli case. I’m also guessing that since it didn’t sell there, the dessicated, jerky-​like chunks of chicken were re-​cooked in a sauce that appears to be made of orange juice with some added sugar and food coloring. There’s a very good Chinese Restaurant called Great China almost directly across the street, so you really don’t need to bother with this kind of stuff.
Somewhere in the middle:
1. Produce. Not as good as Whole Foods or Uwajimaya, but not bad at all.
2. Other in-​store stuff. You’ll also find this Safeway is also home to a florist, a bank, Jamba Juice and a Starbucks. I typically don’t care about any of these except the flowers which I buy occasionally.
3. Even more in-​store stuff. They also have as many over-​the-​counter meds as a small drug store, a passable deli, a decent bakery, and on OK selection of beer, wine and booze. I sort of care about some of these sometimes. Not that other supermarkets don’t offer these, it’s just that Safeway has enough room to stock a bunch of stuff.

Great store, has excellent selection, and a great pharmacy.
FYI~ If you come here during «rush hour» or during the evening on the weekend, expect to stand in line for about 5 – 10 minutes. But compared to all of the other grocery stores in the area, it’s the shortest wait, and has the most helpful staff around.
Also, lots of «interesting» characters hanging around the parking lot on Saturday evenings. :/

Normally I give 5 stars to Safeway cause I love the shit out of these stores. But this one has a weird vibe to it, I can’t exactly explain it. It feels like a crowded ghost town.

This place consistently has some of the cheapest gas, so I always make sure to come whenever I’m in the area. The supermarket is clean, the Starbucks, not so good. But get your gas here!

This is a review on the JAMBA JUICE inside the Safeway:
So every jamba is just like another… But the convenient location does not make up for the ridiculously slow service. It baffles me how these people got hired. /​sigh.

Sigh… I spend way too much money here on a weekly basis.
With that being said, it’s the cleanest, nicest grocery store in my neighborhood. Thumbs up for your organic and gluten-​free selections!

My preferred place for a standard super market is a QFC, but there is not one close by in my new neighborhood. What we do have is a Safeway, This particular one is very well maintained with helpful and friendly staff.
Good quality produce, I feel a lack of variety in the seafood department which is usually too pricey. Pretty decent selections in the meat section and the deli. They do not stock some random specialty items, but make up for it with a pretty large section of ethnic foods and organic choices. Bakery is average.
I totally dig the Jamba Juice stand, since I can’t seem to ever get enough fresh squeezed OJ. Starbucks stand and a large gas station (tends to get busy on weekends) make it a one stop shopping destination!
P. S. Blockbuster around the corner, liquor store to the right and a party supply store across the parking lot… this little block houses everything you could possibly need to host a dinner party.

It’s just a grocery store chain, so let’s skip over all the long, expected details and just do the highlights:
They still actually rent movies. Like in person. Without a box.

Huge organic produce and grocery sections
Good sized floral section with decent selection
Hot deli with larger selection than others in area
Ample parking
Decent amount of self-​checkout
Gas station on location
Pharmacy on location, that’s open late (some evenings till 9pm)

I’ve always hated Safeway because they’re the ones who started all this club card nonsense, but when I moved to the area it was either this or the Albertson’s. I made Albertson’s my main store for a while, but the Safeway is just way nicer and now I’ve officially made the switch. I just use my parents’ club card ;)
The store is very clean, nice big aisles, and has a pretty good selection. Personally I really enjoy their deli sandwiches, but objectively I suppose they’re not really all that special.
They do have self-​scan (not having it is a deal breaker for me), but they close it down fairly early at night, so if you think you can go shopping at 10:00 at night and cleverly avoid the crowds, wrong! You’ll have to wait in one single line with the 8 people buying a case of beer.
Parking is pretty bad, even during a normal time. Trying to get in there the day of a big game or holiday is impossible. They did recently add some more parking that’s like 200 feet away, so that’s nice because most people are WAY too lazy to park that far away and thus it’s always open.
