Scampers Daycamp for Dogs

Love Scampers! When my dog walker is on leave I send my dog here. He gets to hangout with friends and run around with them. I love the daily report card, which always makes me smile. Staff are responsible and will advise any observation of concerns they see.

My two corgi fur-​babies were exhausted till the next mid-​morning after having fun at the Scampers Daycamp. I mainly went there by reading Unilocal review and it proved me right!
Facility is open-​floor for pet-​parent like me instead of ‘for employees only’ like the other daycare places.
Plus, I love the little touch of daily report card. It is a VERY nice gesture to keep me informed! It appears that the staff have figured out the personality of my dogs on the first day! I will be visiting more in the future!

Scampers is the cleanest, most well kept daycare I have seen! The staff are great, and they pay attention! This is a place I feel comfortable bringing my dog!

We have been bringing our pooch exclusively to Scampers for about 1−½ years and have been nothing but pleased with the operation, and have in fact recommended it to many others. Although one of the adult humans in our household works from home, and hence we generally don’t really NEED doggy daycare, we feel doggy daycare is an important play outlet for our dog and helps with her socialization skills. We usually bring her to Scampers once a week, and have boarded her on a handful of occasions.
1. Proprietors Stina and Linda are very friendly and have a genuine love for and knowledge of dogs. They seem to know each of their 4-​legged clients very well, and make you feel like your dog is the most important one. The staff of wranglers also seems to be very good with dogs.
2. We are comforted by the fact that (a) all dogs who go to Scampers have to pass a temperament test and (b) Scampers runs a tight ship ensuring that all dogs are updated on vaccinations © They have a daily maximum capacity, and put a sign on the door indicating they are full if/​when they reach that limit (that tells me they will not sacrifice the safety and comfort of the dogs in exchange for additional revenue potential).
3. I like their hours of 7 AM to 7 PM; enabling earlier drop offs and later pickups than some competitive operations.
4. The facility itself is clean and spacious, never a bad smell, and they have different areas (both indoors and outdoors) for dogs of different sizes and temperaments. Scampers offers prospective clients a chance to look at the place (I’m always leery of any dog daycare or boarding place that is secretive or evasive about where the dogs actually spend their time).
5. Pricing is reasonable.
6. The daily report cards, weekly updates, and their FB site are a nice (and humorous and informative) touch.
7. We’ve boarded our pooch a few times, and have been happy with the experience. It’s cageless boarding.
8. The only downside, and it’s obviously nothing that reflects about the service nor is it anything over which Scampers has control, is that entering and exiting from and to busy 124^th St. is a sometimes-​challenging exercise in nerves and patience (be careful).
In summary, a top notch operation that I would have no hesitancy to patronize.

I absolutely love Scampers! I had never left my dog with strangers before and after checking out other kennel-​like facilities I was extremely nervous but my dog was going through major separation anxiety since I’ve gone back to work. The staff at Scampers really impressed me with their knowledge of dogs and how much they obviously love dogs, as well as the clean facility. My dog loves going there and I know they love her too. I highly recommend this place for anyone who is looking for a doggy day care.

Love Scampers! Keeps my English Bulldog tired, which is a good thing. He has been going there since he was a puppy and is our 2^nd dog to go. They are great with handling dogs and any special requirements. They are well set up for separating different dog personalities into groups. We have even used their kennel services several times.

While the ladies who own this «camp» are very well intending, there are many shortcomings at this facility! Water is served in plastic buckets (not stainless) and should really be free running in order to be fresh and uncontaminated. There are too many dogs taken in daily. They are too close together in pens and runs. The entry smells heavily of (you guessed it) dogs. There is a strong urine smell in a small pond area (run off from hosing down runs?) near the front of the property. Overall more attention is needed in every area. If you use this facility, share your concerns with the owners and with animal advocates. There need to be some serious changes made here! Right now it’s a breeding ground for giardia and tapeworm…and possibly other ailments. As mentioned, they’re trying…but falling short :-(

My dog Gus LOVES going there! He always is so excited when he gets dropped off and is always exhausted when he gets home. The report cards they give out at the end of the day are so sweet and personal– it’s really fun to see what he was up to all day. I highly recommend going here!

After using Scampers for over a year, I feel like I’m now in a comfortable place to give a review based on our experiences.
Why we love them:
–Clean Facility
–Great Staff (Very caring, and fun loving folks)
–Dogs separated into various size/​temperment groups for most of the day
–Facebook updates (although I wish they did one daily, or had all day webcams like the Downtown Dog Lounge does on the westside, I’m always extra excited when they post a video showing this days fun).
–Microsoft Prime Discount
–Also offers boarding, so if your dog is a comfy camper, then boarding is even easier on them.
About my dog:
–Our dog Fenway is a half basenji/​half boston and has a lot of energy. We first brought him to scampers when he was a mere pup, and I think it’s fair to say that he considers the Scampers crew to be his extended «pack». We actually went to three other daycares (Ahimsa on the west side, which was phenomenal, but pretty far out of the way for us in Redmond, the one in PetSmart, which is fine if it’s for a 2 hour errand in the mall, but pretty small, and one other in Woodinville I’d rather not name.)
For us, our pooch was happily pooped every night, and excited to go every day, when at Scampers. Add to that the close to everything eastside location and the great folks, and we have to keep coming back.
We love it there, and they’ve often helped us out in a bind, like when my mom went into the ICU and we had to frantically call them to get him in for boarding in just 20 minutes. They really care.
About your dog: I see a lot of reviews that say they had issues with «high energy dogs» but I didn’t have that experience at all, and my dog is very energy filled.
What I can probably chalk it up to is that every dog is different, with various temperaments, needs for dog and human interactions, and play styles, and you simply don’t know until you try.
The other thing I wanted to address is that yes, there are times that my dog may get a scrape or other minor owwie, and they are always amazing at keeping us informed and helping to keep him safe and happy. For example, one time he got a small cut on one of his paw pads, and they washed it, cleaned it, and wrapped it, to keep it sterile until I could pick him up.
While you need to evaluate and measure all the care you give your dog, I can say that we love it here, and it should definitely be on your list of places to try.

Scampers is very clean inside. The owners are great with the dogs and very friendly. My dog is very happy and happily tired when he comes home. They write ups report cards and give great feedback when you pick your dog up. There prices are fair and the location is easy to get to from the freeway or roads. We are going to be regulars there.
It is very nice that on the dogs first visit he/​she comes at 7am to be the first one to arrive that day so he/​she will not be overwhelmed by other dogs on his first visit. They really stick by this policy.

My 5 month old puppy LOVES Scampers. She goes 1 – 2 times a week. As soon as we pull in the driveway, she gets so excited. The staff are fantastic and super friendly. I love the little report card they give at the end. When I pick up my puppy she’s all tuckered out (which makes my evenings easier). With her at daycamp, I can run errands and not worry about her being at home alone for long hours. I highly recommend Scampers.

I would give Scamper’s five stars if it weren’t for the fact that their staff is inept at knowing different play styles and making sure different groups of dogs that are compatible actually play together.
When I first started attending, I sincerely enjoyed how attentive, friendly, and clean the establishment was. They loved my dog and he was completely obsessed with the place. He knew as soon as we pulled into the parking lot that he was there. When we picked him up, he was obviously tired from playing all day.
That is until the past few months when I started receiving negative reviews about him. It sucks picking your dog up, expecting them to have a good time, only to hear bad news. Most of them were under the effect of him being «too rough», «scaring others», or «too hyper.» Well, of course he is, what do you expect? He was a puppy (now a teenager), and that’s what you’re going to get for a dog who has boundless amounts of energy.
Needless to say, they told me to look into a trainer or attend more dog classes because «they don’t think he knows his boundaries» and to come back when he has. They also thought he was «aggressive.» Excuse me? I’ve taken him to several classes at the Seattle Humane Society (my trainer is Cheri, if you want to talk to her), was introduced and is often around an immense amount of socialization as my boyfriend takes our dog to downtown Seattle at Amazon with him every day, and not including the fact that we attend dog parks regularly. Seeing as how he doesn’t have an aggressive bone in his body and LOVES playing with other dogs, that was hard to believe.
A couple of weeks ago, I was told that he was placed in a crate because he was «chicken-​legging» others. Basically, it’s their definition of a dog who’s nipping at the hindquarters or legs to either rile or play with another dog. With the breed my dog is, this is COMPLETELY NORMAL. I see him do this ALL the time. It made me quite angry to know that they were disciplining him for something that’s ingrained into his play style. If my friends were to crate their dogs who were «chicken-​legging» others, they’d never be OUT of it!
I ask if they place him with dogs that he’s COMPATIBLE with, e.g. dogs that are bigger. I find out that no, they don’t. No wonder I kept hearing bad news. They weren’t placing him with others that would enjoy playing with him, rather just placing him in with dogs that are «similar sized.» I tried to tell them that he plays much better with bigger dogs, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with my dog. Not only were they interrupting me when I was trying to stand by my case, they kept pushing me out the door to leave.
Most of their dogs are sleeping on cots and/​or are older. I do not recommend this place to people who own younger or high-​energy dogs. Look elsewhere.

The reviews about high energy dogs and hurt paws had me concerned because my dog is beyond high energy. (Scampers reports that she runs around in circles upon arriving just because she’s so darn excited!) I was nervous and had the phone at my side all day on her first day. Soooooo unnecessary. After sunny play days outside, elbows will come back a bit rough/​scratched up. Wish they had more soft surfaces for they dogs under the shade. I know there are beds and other options other than the cement, but a floor mat or something that offers laying on the ground in the shade might be nice. Love the kiddie pools.
She has attended Scampers about 5 times now and loves it. She can tell when we’re going to take her to daycare and instead of heading to her bathroom spot (and she really needs to pee), she will yank me towards the car. And when we get to Scampers, she’s gone. She knows exactly where to run to after they let her in and doesn’t even look back. I feel so loved…
Only potentially negative thing I would mention:
My dog is still very young, about 6 months. One week I took her in 2 days in a row and noticed that her manners and training had gotten a little worse. More jumping, more mouthy play, but this was because she wanted to play with us like we’re dogs. She had been around dogs all day for 2 days straight and forgot her training for a little bit. No damage done, I’m just going to keep it at most once a week until she’s less impressionable and understands dog play is for Scampers, human play is for home. Will probably take her more as she figures that out.
Also I think it’s important to note that this type of daycare may not work for all dogs. There can be a lot of dogs there and that may be too overwhelming for some dogs and they can react negatively as a result. I wouldn’t blame Scampers for that, it’s dog-​dependent and you probably won’t find out until you try.

Scampers Rocks !!
We bring our active and often rambunctious dog here all the time, and they are all great with her. Our dog is always happy to run into Scampers, and their staff is just as happy to receive her every morning.
They are extremely clean compared to some of the other locations that our dog has been to, and they do a great job of utilizing the interior fencing system.
We have had nothing but awesome experience here. I would recommend Scampers to anyone on the Eastside looking for «doggy daycare» !!

I wouldn’t take my dog anywhere else… We just moved out of the area, but its so worth the extra time to drive out if the way to go to Scampers.
They only deserve 5 stars… Nothing less!

Scampers is clean, well organized and very well priced. The staff are very friendly and my dogs is always tired after playing for the whole day. They will give you a report card so you have some clue how your dog did during day time.

We have taken our dog here for many months and feel very comfortable that he is safe and has a good time. If he ever is sick, we get a call about his condition so we can assess if we need to come get him, they feed him at lunch. A little pricey IMO but worth it considering how much our dog loves it and knowing that he isn’t at home by himself. I do wish they were open on the weekends but the 7 – 7 hours M-​F work perfect if I have to run some errands after work.
I noticed there was a 1-​star rating and I’m not sure what Molly P. is talking about. They have an energetic section and a quiet section for all types and sizes of dogs. Our dog literally plays the whole time while there so she might not be the right person to trust. I really encourage you to come check them out. If anything, it should encourage you to know that they are vigilant in monitoring for any signs of danger that your or other dogs could be in.

I was really unimpressed with Scampers. We have an active young dog who is very social and friendly and loves to play with other dogs, so we knew daycare was a great option for him. We chose Scampers because it was convenient and they seemed dog-​friendly and knowledgeable. However, that was not the case.
The very first day, I called around lunchtime to check on my dog and was told by a very upset woman that he was being «extremely aggressive.» I was bewildered, because he is a regular dog park visitor and obedience class participant and we had never seen any signs of aggression before. When I picked him up that evening, they informed me that he had spent the majority of the day in a crate. I got a huge lecture about hormones (he’s neutered) and socialization (he’s very well-​socialized), but was told that they thought his aggression may have been due to nerves or anxiety, and so I should bring him back for another try.
I wasn’t sure what to think, but brought him back the following week, because we really wanted daycare to work. I picked him up, only to find he had spent another day locked away in a crate due to «aggression.»
Thankfully, saving me from much angst, there was a professional dog trainer there (Cathy Madson) who was planning to start teaching puppy obedience classes in the evenings at the Scampers facility. She had spent the day there and had observed my dog and as I was walking out, she ran after me to pull me aside and tell me that the Scampers employees were dead wrong about my dog. Cathy said that he is high-​energy and playful, but that she never saw a single true sign of aggression from him, and she had been watching him interact with the other dogs that morning when they hauled him off and stuck him in a crate. Her explanation was that the Scampers employees just aren’t familiar and/​or comfortable with normal dog play, and that they’re really only used to older and low-​energy dogs.
There were a great many dogs there who were laying around on doggie beds or sleeping, so I assume that’s the majority of their satisfied clientele. The thing is, I need a daycare for an energetic dog who wants to play, not a dog who wants to sleep all day.
We have since found a much more competent daycare that my dog has attended weekly for the last year, and we’ve never had a single problem.
Avoid Scampers. If I wanted my poor dog stuck in a crate all day, I could do that at home for free.

I like them, but ever since our dog went there he has had fleas. It is their policy that all pets that come there be on some type of flea program but our dog still got fleas. He loves them, he sees them on the street and wants to great them, he practically jumps out of the car when we pass the building. The price is fair as well.
I don’t want to give them a negative rating because they are good people with the best of intentions and they appear to really love dogs but I haven’t taken him back there because of the flea problem he had. It may not even be related but I don’t want to risk it.

Scampers is truly as good as it gets!
My puppy, Teddy, started a few months ago and I have been SO incredibly pleased since then. It took him about two weeks to convince him that «yes» he did want to get out and run with new friends… and we haven’t looked back since. He goes two times a week and on those days, I can count on him returning home EXHAUSTED. Usually, he passes out during the car-​ride home.
The pricing is competetive and even more-​so, if you have a Prime card. Otherwise, if you pre-​pay for dates, you can also get a discount.
