This is a delicious place to get chimichangas. The steak chimi is m my favorite, although my wife likes the shrimp. Some people complain about the cheesy white sauce but I personally think it is an irreplaceable asset to the deliciousness of said chimichanga.

«Ethnic» food in a small town like Kirksville is always a gamble. The town food in general is not very good, and unfortunately El Vaquero is no exception. Food is bland and greasy. Prices aren’t too high, and portion sizes are fair. The restaurant itself is large, clean, colorful. Our waitress would forget to bring things we requested, like more salsa, so we had to remind her. This restaurant is pretty on par with other Mexican restaurants in Kirksville.

Holy fuck!!! You better find somewhere else to eat. Crushed chips. Weak salsa. Confused waitress. No straw for a 40 oz margarita(oh wait, was there alcohol in that). Forgot the drink order and then forgot a pen to write down the order. If you like to waste your money and time, you got the right place.

The food is always edible and quick. I’m not sure there is anything about the food that sets it apart from the rest in town. The atmosphere is festive and bright and I will be coming back.

Very good food. Price was good. Strange that the wait staff was hanging around a table in the center of the room. Maybe it was family?

Service was a little hit or miss and employee’s children ran wild but the cheerful atmosphere, tasty, ample portioned dishes and mixed drink specials give this place an edge over the other Mexican joints around town.
