Makinson Hardware

Family owned, small town, quality service — these are just a few words that accurately describe Makinson’s Hardware. The oldest hardware store in the state of Florida is also the friendliest. While not as big as the charmless Home Depot and Lowes, Makinson’s offers fantastic service regardless of how much you spend. I’ve made many transactions here, from buying bolts and screws needed for projects to propane tank refills for family BBQs. I have always been greeted by name and treated like a family member. The Makinson family has built and maintained a business that has been a pillar of the downtown Kissimmee community and a refuge for the local home improvement lover. Here’s hoping to many more years of business!

Great staff, Walter very knowledgeable and helpful. Reminds you of a hardware store from back in the day where you can find everything you need.

I always prefer to go here instead of Home Depot or Lowe’s and I only ever go to one of the latter if I have to get paint or materials that I can’t find here.
Not only is it cool that Makinson is the oldest actively running small business in the state, but the staff go out of their way to assist you the moment you walk through the doors. They’re extremely knowledgable and friendly and I can get in and out far quicker than at any other nearby hardware store.
