It’s true, they’re closed. I have to go back and take a picture, but I really don’t want to. They were the friendliest guys on the planet with amazing lobster rolls and fried seafood, but I think the closing of the Memorial bridge killed them. I heard that they were looking at some spots downtown and I hope they re-open soon.

My daughter and I have been talking for quite a while about taking a trip to Maine to eat lobster and drive along the coast. So for her birthday this year I bought us a trip to Maine. We decided to stop in at Hebert’s Brothers for a couple reasons. First being the reviews from Unilocal and other sources and second being that we have relatives in Louisiana with the last name of Hebert. We stopped by this place and had one of the most memorable meals you could wish for. My daughter ordered the fried lobster tails and I the large lobster roll. The rolls were very good, but the fried lobster tails were the best. We stuffed ourselves and had an amazing time sitting at one of the outside picnic tables. Our trip to portland and the other stops in Maine were amazing and we will never forget this mini father/daughter vacation. On our last day my daughter wanted to stop one more time to get our final fill of lobster. We stopped back in Kittery and had another order of fried lobster tails. The service was great and we felt welcomed both times we were there. We will definately do this trip again and will make Hebert Brothers a must-do on our list.

Wonderful fresh seafood, friendly casual atmosphere. Stopped in with my sister to pick up some fresh haddock to cook for dinner and also picked up some seafood stuffing. I cooked this at home and it was fabulous. Great prices too. I want to try the 5:00 lobster rolls on Wednesdays! Will be back!!!

Where do I begin with the compliments?! They were close to closing time when we arrived, but they told us to come in anyway. 2 Lobsters for $ 25 for my fiancée, and a lobster roll for me. Plus beers, and college football on TV… great times! Next time we go, we’ll BYOB/Wine and bring friends, and I will bring a bigger appetite! If it were possible to give more than 5 stars, I would!

Great experience! My friend and I stopped in after reading about this place on Unilocal. We had the lobster roll, which was very tasty. There were huge chunks of lobster on a very toasty bun. The owner was super friendly. He actually came out and sat with us.

Wow, this is a super friendly place with great atmosphere. And they make 5-star chowder. Actually, the clam might just be 4-star, but its an interesting thick New England chowder with mild broth, good clam flavor, and small square-cut potatoes. It’s the fish chowder that gets the 5-stars, and it’s completely different: a Maine-style, peppery broth with yellow, unpeeled potatoes and generous amounts of white fish. If you want to make a grand entrance to Maine chowderdom, just cross the bridge and stop here.(Oh wait, they have to fix the bridge first…)

Lobster!!! Came here with the husband labor day weekend, at 2pm this place was packed! The guy behind the counter took our order then offered us beer on the house! The guys working behind the counters were all super nice and funny. The food was delicious. I got a single lobster(pictured, between 1 – 2 lbs I would say) for $ 15, which I thought was a great deal. The husband got a lobster roll and a cup of chowder. He said that both were great, but the portions were a bit small for the price($ 16 lobster roll, $ 5 chowder). If we lived closer I would totally come here for the $ 5 lobster roll special!

I headed here because of the raves on Unilocal, but honestly I’m not that impressed… The chowder was bland and thin with way more potato and onion than I personally like, and very chewy clams. The lobster roll was served on a nicely-grilled hot dog bun with lots of good lobster, but also needed a bit more mayo, and seasoning(it had none). Personally I like celery in mine but can’t ding them for that.(«Just Lobster» vs «lobster and celery and/or lettuce» isn’t a debate for here.) There was little and no view from the restaurant, thought due to construction on Memorial Bridge, we just walked out on it and sat on teh curb and gazed across the Piscataqua to Portsmouth, NH which was nice, but wouldn’t have worked if they bridge hadn’t been closed. I can’t speak to the quality or prices, but Morrison’s Lobsters next door sure seemed to have a better view, and Hebert’s left me thinking«wow, we should have tried there, instead.»

Hell, yes. I was returning to the area after many years away, and wanted a genUine LOBSTAH roll. Unilocal tells me to go to Hebert Brothers. Unilocalers, you did me a seafood solid. I rolled in at about noon on a Friday, and ordered a regular size roll for about $ 15. Stop right there. Yes, it’s pricey. But it’s a LOBSTAH roll, people. And a freaking tasty one. The guy takes my order, and I cart my arse out the the picnic tables to wait. A really pretty view of the bridge and the river. About 10 minutes later, out comes my roll and a side of tasty coleslaw. Washed that all down with a diet Dr. Pepper, and left a very happy camper. The guys behind the counter were friendly, and they even recognized the two guys who came in after me. From a year ago Who does that? I recommend.

After being stuck in traffic on US1 for HOURS, feeling pretty dejected, we Unilocal us Hebert Brothers. What caught out eye was not only the high reviews but the fact it was on an island, Kittery Island. Jason(Cork’em), Josh and Justin greeted us, very friendly bunch of guys. We ordered the lobster but were told they were out of Lobster, they only had two left due to a large party cleaning them out earlier. It was around 4:30pm, how could you be out of lobster?!? I ordered the steamers. Out too! So they cut us a GREAT deal on the remaining 2 lobsters and gave us BOGO Lobster Rolls! We ordered the Lobster Bisque as well. The food was brought out to our picnic table over the water and Cork’em mentioned a Local Tuna Fisher. Upon hearing the word«tuna» we all«Oooh”-ed. Moments later, Cork’em brought out a plate of fresh ahi tuna with wasabi for us, on the house because we «Oooh”-ed. How Awesome is that! The Lobsters did not last long, nor did the Lobster Rolls. I’ve never seen so many chunks of lobster in Lobster Bisque before. In Vegas you get one teeny piece. Here, in this pint, I lost count after 8 large chunks. This was definitely the highlight out our trek from NY to ME for LobsterFest. I wish them all the best and hope to see them again one day!

My family was visiting New Hampshire for vacation and I really wanted to try lobster. We’d never eaten lobster before so we were total newbies. Thanks to Unilocal we found Herbert Brothers and decided to try it. We passed so many different seafood places on the way and it was so tempting to just stop somewhere close by because really how different can lobster be? We were so glad that we didn’t. When we walked in we were greeted by the 2 owners, both brothers, who 100% took care of us. They gave us free local beers, helped us order, even made a grilled cheese for our little girl. When we explained we had no idea what we were doing with the lobster, one of the brothers actually came and sat down with us at our table with his own lobster and walked us through opening it up. We had one of the best times ever at this place and it was the highlight of our trip. If we ever go back to Maine we will for sure stop by here again. We couldn’t be happier… you have to try it!

Just had an epic night at this place. Sunset was incredible, $ 5 lobster rolls were filled with chunky lobster claws with perfectly toasted buttery buns, and the owner, Mike, was incredibly hospitable and fun! If you go to Portsmouth, definitely go there!!!

We came looking for a good seafood lunch and was left happy and full. There wasn’t much of a crowd on a monday at 3pm but the food was delish. We went with a blackened catfish sandwich with chipotle mayo and a fresh tuna burger with wasabi sauce. Super fresh and cooked to perfection with tons of flavor. Total bill was $ 24. Side note: They were having a special that day as well: 2 lobsters for 20 bucks and a 5 dollar clam roll.(deal!) The guys were extremely friendly and helpful. We wanted to eat outside because we had our puppy with us and they suggested to go to the other side of the restaurant where there was water views instead of parking lot views. Overall, good food by nice local guys. Would definitely return!

I am glad we stopped by on Wednesday for $ 5 lobster rolls because the rest of the menu looked pretty expensive. Pricing aside, the three lobster rolls we gor were all perfect. Filled with lots of delicious meat cooked to perfection and perfectly balanced with a buttery roll. Our to-go orders only took a few minutes for them to make too. Yay for Maine lobster!

The clam chowder was really nice, good flava’. But the lobster in the roll for sure tasted weird and old or something. Maybe it was an off day or off lobster, or maybe we are just insane. Cuz the reviews for them are generally awesome. Probably would skip this place in the future.

Had my first lobster roll here, and it was delicious. I enjoyed the roll, and a full lobster. Way way good lobster! I came here with my family who have ranges from loving seafood to hating it. They had great food for all of us(the chicken strips were some of the best I’ve had). The staff was super friendly, and helped us pick out something each one of us would enjoy, and spent the time to check up on us.

It was our first time and would have been a 5 if the clam chowder was a bit better(I like soft potato chunks in chowda). We both had the lobster roll(+$ 2 fee for changing one to sweet potato fries). The lobster was very fresh and plentiful. The fries were good and not greasy at all. The roll’s bread was toastedly really nicely & buttery. In total was a pricey-ish lunch of $ 40-range for 2 people, but it was tasty! Would go again to try the fried lobster tail other Unilocalers raved about.

This was by far the best place we ate the whole weekend. I’d promised the owners that i would write a review for them so here is it. It’s a must eat place, the prices on the menu is cheaper than most of the places we have gone. The Fried lobster tail is to die for(the owner threw in an extra lobster tail for us, and it’s a 2.5 lbs lobster tail) Everything was delicious the fried oyster, fried calamari, and the foot long lobster roll. This is a MUSTEAT. Recommend«FRIEDLOBSTERTAIL»

If Hebert Brothers wasn’t five hours away from me, I’d be a regular. They offer generous portions of amazing seafood in a very casual, yet clean and friendly environment. Some would say it’s a dive, but with food this good, who cares about ambiance? Our group of six ordered: a fried shrimp basket w. sweet potato fries, twin lobsters, fried haddock sandwich, fish and chips, lobster caesar salad, clam chowder and crab cakes. Everything was absolutely fantastic; we ate to the point that we were beyond full, and were sad when we couldn’t clean our plates. The food was cooked perfectly and the items that were fried were not too greasy. The clam chowder included a lot of clams, which were actually larger than the chopped potatoes(!), and the crab cakes were the best we’ve had. It did take about 30 minutes on a busy Saturday evening for our food to come out, but everything is prepared fresh and it was well worth the wait. As we sat there, a couple suddenly made a huge scene and complained loudly that they had been waiting for their food for over an hour. I can understand their frustration, but I’m not sure why they didn’t say something sooner. In any case, the staff was extremely apologetic, explained that their order slip had been misplaced, told them they’d get their money fully refunded and the food would be out ASAP. When the food wasn’t on their table five minutes later(as staff rushed to prepare it for them), the couple stormed out. It was their loss. One of the brothers(his twin wasn’t there on this day) offered both our party and another party a free lobster, and continuously tried to persuade us after we declined because we were so full. He was very personable and sat at our table for about 10 minutes to chat, as the rush had died down by the time we finished our meal. There is not a lot of seating in the restaurant, but they offer everything as takeout, and there are four picnic tables outside as well. Be warned that the only bathroom is shared with staff and is accessed through the kitchen. In conclusion, I can’t wait to go back to Maine and pay Hebert Brothers another visit.
