Small place, but very comfortable. We went for Portsmouth restaurant week and were pleasantly surprised with misto. 4 course menu — all very good, but some weird flavors like the curry notes in the sauce for the bracciolitini. Desserts sounded good, but the strawberry shortcake seemed to be made with frozen berries. Nice open kitchen, but it can’t be seen from the dining room which sort of defeats the purpose. All in all a nice night.

The«healthy, fresh & organic» sign caught my eye. It didn’t disappoint! Stopped in for lunch on a Sunday and everything was fresh, as promised, and delicious. The service was also great. It’s a little beyond the main drag of outlets on route one, and a nice break from the shopping crowd. For the perceived quality of the food, the prices were very reasonable($ 15 for a filling wrap, side salad, tax and tip). They have a comfortable and cozy atmosphere, a full bar with quality beer, and our way out we caught sight of the smoothie bar, dessert counter and to-go area. If I lived nearby, I’d be a regular.

We went out yesterday evening with two other couples for a $ 30 restaurant week four serving meal. This was the first time We had ever had an excellent meal ruined by the way we were served(or in several cases ‘not’ properly served) 1) As a party of six, we ordered six cocktails. Four of the six were served and we waited patiently for the last two drinks so we could toast. Two other tables subsequently ordered and were served their drinks before we got the waiters eye and asked for our missing drinks. We were told the bar was behind, yet we had watched as the bartender both made the other table their drinks and was also standing around several times not mixing any drinks. More than fifteen minutes passed between the first and last drinks being brought to our table. 2) We had also asked for water with lemon when we ordered our cocktails. Again we had to remind our waiter when the water never came. It finally was served about twenty minutes late, without the lemon. We were told the delay was also due to the backup at the bar. 3) There were numerous other surprises including: — Two baskets of bread were served at each end of our table. However, there was only one small bowl of oil brought to one end of the table. — Four of our party ordered the carrot ginger soup. Only two of our plates were brought with soup spoons on them — We had to ask for spoons. — Second plates were brought before the soup bowls were cleared. — Four of our party ordered the chocolate flourless cake with Vanilla Bean Gelato. We had to ask why it was brought without the Vanilla Gelato. Fine food poorly served — There are too many other excellent restaurants in the area for us to consider a return visit.

Tried Misto! For the first time on 3/19/16…and LOVEDIT!!! My friends and i shared a variety of appetizers: homemade turkey meatballs(made gluten free), beet and arugula salad, and the so very delish fish tacos. Everything was so fresh and so yummy! Our entrees were just as spectacular(my butternut squash risotto was to die for!), as was the extremely friendly waitstaff! We felt like a member of the Misto! Family! I highly recommend this lovely little gem of a restaurant! Its not far from the kittery outlets, and Portsmouth too!

I rarely eat out, so when I do, I want to make sure the meal is good. My sister and I went during Restaurant week. They were very busy, yet our server was very attentive and made sure we were taken care of. The meal was delicious and very fresh. The portions were perfect and the wine recommendation made by our server was wonderful. This is the perfect place to go for a great meal in a very cozy and relaxed setting. I highly recommend it. Absolutely delicious! The wraps we ordered were so fresh and tasty, the sweet potato fries came with an awesome homemade sauce, and the cocktails are even better! The workers were very friendly and pleasant to talk to as well. Will be back every time we take a trip to Kittery!

Stopped in for lunch, not many good options in Kittery but Mistro was good. Blackened haddock Reuben was a good choice but many other options that sounded great. Will definitely be back and highly recommend.

Misto had been suggested to me by another local Kittery business and today seemed like a good day to give it a try. Being a Thursday afternoon around 2pm, the restaurant was very quiet so we had no problem getting a table. We were greeted with several friendly«Hellos» upon entering and, being the pains in the butt that we are, I asked if we could switch from our table to the booth which I didn’t realize needed to be bussed. I felt kind of badly after I found out they’d have to stop and clean the table for us, but one of the waiters(Justin) cheerfully wiped it down. Our waitress, Erin, was also super nice. Anyone reading this should know that my husband can be extremely obnoxious when we go out to eat — teasing waitstaff(not at all in a mean way) and making his orders as complicated as humanly possible. Erin didn’t seem to mind. I ordered the sweet potatoes fries as a starter and the Farmhouse Salad, made vegan topped with tofu. My husband got a «specially prepared» off-menu salad(told you he’s a pain) and the ravioli. The fries were delicious! They were served with a thick, balsamic dipping sauce that was yummy. The salad was also fantastic. The tofu was prepared a little differently than at most places — sliced, rather than cubed, and pan– sautéed. Very yummy! My husband raved about the ravioli. In all the years we’ve been together, I have never seen him eat leftover sauce(you know, what’s left behind after the pasta is all gone); yet, after he finished his raviolis, he ate the rest of his sauce with a spoon! A really great lunch! I should also note that the décor at Misto is lovely. The restaurant is quite small, so I’m not sure I’d want to go on a busy Saturday night since the small tables are all lined up right next to each other. The restroom was incredibly clean and beautifully decorated. So that was our lunch at Misto. We will most certainly return :)

Wowsah… We happened by here and decided to stop for lunch. Mind you, this area has next to nothing in the way of decent food. However, that has changed. Misto is beyond amazing, the food is COMPLETELY perfect and the staff is so awesome, friendly, and well, very good looking.(sorry). We had the steak and cheese and blackened haddock rueben. Best ever, and the wine/drink list is wonderful. I had the malbec. Interior is very tasteful and perfect for a casual lunch or a romantic dinner. They use local high quality foods which makes this place a real winner at prices one can afford. Go go go go. Although we live 45 minutes away we will be back many times. Great job, thank you!

My husband and I were very disappointed when we went to dinner at Misto for restaurant week. After reading all of the reviews below, we had sich high hopes! Unfortunately not much went right last night. It took a while for a hostess to greet us, we waited an hour before we got any food, and we had to ask for bread(they forgot). Then when they brought us our food, they brought us our main course. When we told them they forgot our appetizers, they took the main course back and brought our first course out, which was mediocre at best. After another 30 minutes they told us dessert would be out any minute. We told them they never brought our entrees. Entrees came out and they were the exact same entrees they had brought out an hour earlier– half was cold, the other half you could tell they had quickly put under the broiler because it was burnt. Dinner was not good. Very bland and burnt. On the positive side dessert was great, and they gave us an extra glass of wine. Also the waitress was nice and very apologetic. We likely won’t be back.

OMG. So delicious. What a fun, local find. This place was a true farm to table experience. We went mid day and it was almost dead so we were a bit concerned. But on a weekday, mid day it’s to be expected. It was DELICIOUS& we had nothing to worry about. My very picky hubby loved it. He got the California wrap and I got the steak & cheese panini. Both were quite delicious and you could tell it was fresh & homemade. The local aspect was amazing. It was so good and clean! The bathroom was decorated in a modern/rustic style with inspirational signs everywhere and delicious smelling soaps. I loved it overall and would highly recommend this as a destination during your outlet shopping experience or any time you find yourself to be in Kittery! Go check them out.

My family stopped by last night for dinner, we’re pleasantly surprised on how cozy and quaint this place was. Not your typical Italian resterant, with the usual menu, but with tasteful meals, reasonable prices, well presented. My wife enjoyed the Italian family meal, and I had the fish tacos, which were spicy, full of flavor. The carrot cake was great as well. I should also add that the staff was incredibly friendly and inviting, they made us feel like we were coming to their home for dinner. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

Pulled in here by mistake. Just the outside of the restaurant alone is extremely welcoming. Very different look. Modern Italian style look with comforting outdoor deck. Inside is vibrant with fantastic tunes I was sucked in first step through the door. Sat at the bar alone. Oliver the son of the owner was extremely informative and outgoing. He noted a quick history of the place and how his mom started it. They grow a lot of their own products out back. Organic and fresh. His mom specializes in her sauces. He steered me towards the fish tacos which kicked me in the mouth with flavor and spice. Definitely in my top 2 for fish tacos. Great drink list with fair prices. Menu looked amazing. Perfect spot, my kind of vibes. Loved this place. Going here again!

If you like fried food and lobster rolls, Kittery is your kinda place. If however you prefer scratch cooking using farm fresh ingredients, you should set your compass towards Misto’s. Friendly staff, great salads and convenient to all the shopping. Would highly recommend Misto’s as a place to relax after a hard afternoon of shopping.

As background I’ve summered in York and been eating all over the southern Maine/NH area for about 20 years. From start to finish Misto was great. The menu is creative and items are made with locally sourced and environmentally friendly ingredients. The food itself was stellar and could easily compete with any restaurant in Boston. We had three starter plates; the seared scallops, sweet potato wedges and misto fish tacos and finished up with the Italian family supper. Everything was amazing! Definitely one of the best restaurants in the southern Maine/NH seacoast area. If you’re around its a must visit!

What a gem!!! We stumbled across Mistro! after a brief stop in Kittery on the way to Kennebunkport we see this cute little place claiming«Locally sourced and all natural». That was enough for us to give it a try. We were psyched after just walking in. The atmosphere was hip, fresh, creative and cozy. The concept w/a front take out area then the next room the dining room w/a small bar was just plain smart as well as well done. Everything we ordered was excellent. We’re foodies, and they made us soooo happy! Such that on our way back to MA the next day we stopped in again. The service was perfect: super attentive, really personable, REAL, a little humor w/a great ease. Kyle = A+ The owner, Susan, a great delight and most authentically gracious ~ all while she’s cooking up a yummy storm. We found a new favorite place and will be back! Thanks guys! A true delight amongst the tourist traps of Kittery.

Beginning with a rich cup of coffee, and upscale atmosphere, I was eager to try the food. We ordered the«Ollie» chicken sandwhich and the fish tacos. The bread was to tasted to a light crunch which kept the tender inside of the bread deliciously moist and complimented the seasoned chicken and spinach perfectly. The fish tacos contained a blackened haddock which was very tasty, but the sauce had a bit of a bite. However, delicious as long as you like some fire dancing on your tounge. Eager for dessert… and our server Oliver was great. Strongly recommend a leisurely lunch or dinner.
