The Clean Bedroom

I am sorry to say this store is closed, out of business. Luckily I’d called Visa, having paid for a mattress, which offered my money back.

Drove a half an hour to arrive just before 5pm on the Saturday of memorial day weekend. The website, door and phone message all say they are open till 6pm on Saturdays with NO mention of different holiday weekend hours. Too bad because this seems like a great place and we were prepared to buy a new bed, but they lost our business…

Last September, my husband and I bought a Naturally Organic «Oyasumi» mattress through the Clean Bedroom in Kittery, Maine. We tried various combinations of top and bottom layers and settled on a firm under layer with a soft top layer. Not long after, we noticed that we were waking up with back aches. We went to the Clean Bedroom to find out what can be done and their representative, Sandy, said that we should not have gotten a firm under layer. She went on to say that firm beds are only for stomach sleepers. We were disappointed because when buying such an expensive product, the sales representative ought to help the customer decide on the best choice. It was Sandy who sold us the mattress originally, and did not offer explanations about why someone would chose which product. She merely stated her personal preference. Only after we went in to complain do we learn that the firm-​soft combination is not for us. In January my husband developed sciatic pain and an MRI revealed that he had developed a herniated disc in the lumbar region of his spine, without an incident to have caused it.

Such a great store and the best selection of natural and organic bedding around. We drove up from MA to check out an organic mattress and left 30 minutes later with an amazing deal on a mattress and two pillows. I had previously thought that an organic mattress was out of our price range but was happy to discover this wasn’t the case when buying from The Clean Bedroom. The transaction was so pleasant and easy — I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this store to anyone. Samantha Brown was the manager we dealt with that day and she was lovely. I had similarly good experiences with store staff via email and telephone.
Tip for MA residents — no sales tax if you order from the Kittery store before they open their MA location.
