Best Indian restaurants in Seacoast area! We hosted a big party in Tulsi and the manager Stan was able to accommodate a party of 30. The service is great. Food is also awesome !! Chicken Briyani, Boti Kabob, Onion and Spinach Pakora and their Chai Tea is to die for. We come here on a regular basis.

As an Indian expat and a recent transplant to the northern Seacoast, it’s very heartening to note the existence a fine Indian restaurant in area! Firstly, I give the owner credit for not having a clichéd name. Secondly, the menu has a limited, but interesting selection of some iconic dishes from different states of India. They also have a full bar and I’ve heard it’s worth coming for happy hours and appetizers. The murgh malai kabab is a great appetizer to try, especially for those with milder palettes. It’s pieces of chicken marinated with cardamon, black pepper, cream cheese or regular cheese, and thick cream(droooooool). TRYIT! Thirdly, I give Tulsi credit for having pork vindalo, a classic Goan dish, and for actually accentuating the vinegar in the dish. As a general advice to those who may be more unfamiliar with Indian cuisine: if you’re going as a group, order and share and dishes(and eat with you hand when you have to). Having a sumptuous meal among friends could cost about $ 40(with drinks). They’re only open for dinner on weekdays(FYI). They have a Sunday lunch buffet with a very small selection but it’s worth the $ 14 – 15 price. Try the goat curry with white rice(eat with raita and some Indian pickle).you’re welcome. Service is good sometimes, but perhaps it could be improved. I’ve found things to be clean and consistent. I heard through the grapevine that they’re probably opening another restaurant in Maine(a little north of Ogunquit, I think).

Brunched at Tulsi recently with some friends. The place is simple yet elegant, the servers were understated and professional. The brunch, however was magnificent. The cilantro chicken and naan were outstanding. The rest: chicken Tikka, tandoori, palak paneer, goat curry, rices, were delicious as well. My only complaint, not impressed with the dessert options. Pricing for the brunch was excellent. Under $ 20 for a meal of this size and quality is remarkable. This place is a great value and a great experience for brunch…

Best Indian in the Seacoast(even if it is in Maine). Great selection, great presentation, great customer service!

Nice place, but the service was slow on a busy night. We order both dishes mild, and they were still served very spicy, with more heat than flavor. If this is your thing, add a star.

This has got to be some of the best Indian food I have ever done et. Just walking in to this joint you are bathed in aromas most enticing, and you sort of feel that this is going to be some special grub. There is a plaque on the wall claiming that this place was voted one of the best Indian restaurants in the whole freaking country. Not sure if that is PRBS, but it is definitely ALLTHAT!!! Oh the curries were really good, and especially their Vindaloo, and the Okra was to die for, and even the Tikka Masala was super creamy, smooth, and rich. As far as I remember, though, there were no dosas, but I am not going to take a star off for that, since most Indian restaurants don’t serve the magical dosa. There is one in South Portland that does, though, called Taj India, and that is worth a 4-hour drive down drive from Fort Kent just for the experience!!! Breads were decent, loved the fried cauliflower appetizer, and those shrimps you have to order, one of the best things of the whole night! It is kind of pricey, but go ahead, save up your quarters and treat yourself! I for one may even come back to this place next time I hit up Kittery, and skip the Black Birch, pretty much one of my favorite places in all of southern Maine.

We went for the first time last week. It was amazing from the drinks to the apps to the service. The cauliflower appetizer was my favorite.

Wonderful ambiance, great service, even better food. Coming from a south Asian background I have very high standards for good Indian food, but this place definitely exceeded my expectations. Was there for a small family function for my cousin, and the staff was really accommodating for even such a large group of people. 10⁄10!

VENUE: Easy parking. Nice, clean place with rich-color décor. SERVICE: Good. We were a low maintenance group. FOOD: Very good. I went on Sunday for the buffet, which was small but they had a good variety and the food was delicious. I would definitely recommend it!

The food at Tulsi is just wonderful. My ONLY complaint is that their delicious samosas are not on the dinner menu! Available only during happy hour… sigh. Expect to spend a lot more at Tulsi than you will at Shalimar(in Portsmouth) and expect a significant wait on the weekends as well. I usually get the chicken Tikka Masala, but the tandoori salmon, chicken korma, and yellow dal are all excellent. Edit… Tulsi added vegetarian and non-vegetarian Thalis to their happy hour menu, making this place 5 star worthy for sure.

I feel lucky to live so close to Tulsi. I am a big fan of Indian food and they do it so well. Another gem in Kittery that is well worth the visit. 5 stars for the food. I do have to say the service has been inconsistent. Never rude, but sometimes slow and almost forgetful. I’ve had wonderful experiences and really regrettable ones as well. I still reccomend this place without question.

Best Indian food. I used to like Indian food before Tulsi now I crave it. I have had everything except the vegetarian meals and am never disappointed. They use all fresh ingredients and the sauces are all traditional.

It’s been awhile since we’ve eaten here… looks like the menu has changed. I used to order the palak paneer and it was amazing. So flavorful. Always thought it strange that samosas were not on the menu, pakora was a nice change. Orders always took awhile, but the food always worth it.

Let me start by saying the food at Tulsi is among the best Indian food on the Seacoast. Consistent, delicious and well prepared. Here are the problems: Price. My wife and I have ordered take out dozens of times since moving to Kittery. If we are VERY careful with our order we can eat take out for under $ 40. Having said that. Ordering food that you really want to try or perhaps have a few leftovers will cost you in excess of $ 60. That’s for take out remember. Service. I have never been treated to poorly at a restaurant. Others have mentioned the poor service and I agree. I can see Tulsi from my living room. Often I will order, wait the 30 – 40 suggested minutes before heading over, then wait another 30 minutes before my order is ready. On my last visit a family that came in 10 minutes after I had arrived had their drinks and dinner served before I left with my take out. The staff ignores you, never apologizes and generally makes you feel weird. As others have said, you sit or stand awkwardly with many other people, waiting for someone to acknowledge you. Unfortunately my days eating the amazing food at Tulsi are over. I just can’t see past the superiorly poor service.

Ordered food from here a couple times. My experience has been that the Chana Masala is overly oily. The Garlic Nan also doesn’t have the garlic cooked into it, rather it appears sprinkled on the top and brushed in oil or butter. The Nan is also not soft, but rather seems to have been pre-cooked and then just re-heated in a pan.

Great place to go with friends! Food is authentic, tasty, and exactly what I look for when visiting Indian cuisine. Service was spectacular! Our server had great recommendations and was very attentive. Portions are perfect sized! I would recommend Tulsi to anyone in the area looking for good eats!

I got a little fed up with chicken-wing snacks at bars. Tulsi Indian Restaurant has amazing bar snacks during their happy hour. Samosas, little fried pastries stuffed with a mix of potato, onion, peas and Indian spices. Or Chicken 65, a chicken breast dipped in seasoned batter and fried. It comes with a couple of different chutneys. Even a couple of slices of nan bread is delicious, served with two amazing dipping sauces. Soft and chewy, it beats most appetizers hands down. Happy hour is 4 – 5:30 pm, Wed.-Fri. Check it out. Their happy hour stuff runs $ 2 to $ 5. Definitely worth it.

This is my new favorite restaurant! I have been here twice with the food being outstanding each time! Both times we sat at the bar and had Brooke serve us. Shes great, shes a world traveler and has spent time in India. We ordered the muscles and garlic bread for an app, and two different chickens for an entrée along with the naan bread! Please please please try this bread, its life changing! The reason I didnt give Tulsi 5 stars was because this last time I went they were out of this amazingggg pudding desert. I had been dreaming and telling everyone about this pudding only to be disappointed. In fact they were out of ALL the desert. And im one of those people that loves something sweet after a big meal. I wish they could have found SOMETHING sweet to make me! After all I did drive an hour to eat there! So I highly recommend Tulsi and its especially great for a date night!
