I saw Dr. Powell for about 2 years. About a year and a half too long.
First, she does not take insurance and charges $ 90 for 20 – 30 minutes! And she never, EVER starts on time. I always arrive early and one day someone came late for their appointment and instead of making them wait, she made ME wait (it was already past my time to go back) so she could take the LATE person! I was appalled. You don’t reward lateness! Unbelievable.
She also cannot be reached in an emergency. She once told me that if you called her office number and pressed the number 1 it would go to her cell phone. Lie. It kept looping to a generic message for the practice.
She would not call in my much needed medicine even though my doctor went out of her way to get the lab work done. And refused to return phone calls to me or pharmacy.
She would also not return phone calls to me or my therapist (that had to be left on a generic voicemail) even though she knew it was a crisis/​life or death situation and was expecting our call.
I would avoid her at all cost until she starts to understand that she needs to be available in an emergency, can start sessions on time and lower her rates.
Firing her was the best thing I did for my mental health.
