We stopped to have lunch here since all the other restaurants had long wait, should have known right then that there is reason why this was almost empty. The menu was mostly Asian but you could order Cuban sandwich too. I settled with thai beef salad which was basic salad(mostly iceberg lettuce, few cucumber and tomato slices) topped with beef. Beef was good but this Thai beef salad had never seen authentic one. Prices are good but I don’t see us returning to this restaurant.

The waiter was very attentive however he wasn’t knowledgeable of the menu. The menu displays food which they don’t offer. I asked one of the other servers why the food doesn’t match the food prepared at Fusion. Blank Stare!!! Terrible Food

I’m reviewing here because Koi fusion and Cocoa moon are said, by the manager at least, to be a joint restaurant. We should’ve known this place was going to miss when we opened the menu. Japanese food, Thai food, Mexican food, Caribbean food… I mean, jack of all trades but MASTEROFNONE. We ordered the Arroz con Pollo — a dish I’m VERY familiar with — and the Pad Thai. Neither was very good. The pad thai was super sticky and suuuuper sweet and the arroz con pollo was… just… bad. Granted, arroz con pollo means«rice with chicken,» but it’s supposed to be made a certain way. This place just made some rice, made some dry chicken threw it on the plate and covered it with velveeta cheese. No bueno. On top of that, the service was not good at all. Our table was dirty when we sat down. They gave us one menu to order from. Our drinks took forever. Our food took FOR-EVERRR. Our check even took forever! Ugh… I don’t think I’d go back here.

We wanted to like this place, but we probably shouldn’t have come in. We were tired and hungry after working a long conference. The menu should have been a warning — so many different things. Less fusion, more mishmash. But the staff were so nice. The hostess chased us down to get us seated when a table opened up. We were a large group of six and the server was super nice about giving us separate checks. A couple of funny things happened. We got our tom yum soup(perhaps the best thing I ate! It was good.) and I asked for napkins. The server brought cocktail napkins, not the dinner napkins with utensils. Odd. And it took a long time for the server to check on whether or not the drinks needed refills. But we had plenty of water. I had the tom yum soup(definitely order this! But $ 3.99 is mighty steep for a cup of soup.). I also had the ceviche(which wasn’t fish — it was shrimp — nothing on the menu said it would be shrimp so I should have asked — it was good, though), and the tofu salad, which was fine. Big chunks of avocado! I was so full. Also, we sat outside and the location on Market Square is lovely. It was just a weird weird menu with overpriced soup and I wouldn’t eat there again. But a pro-tip: the mojitos are enormous.

Recently tried this restaurant and will not be coming back. While our waitress was attentive and eager to please, there were several bumps in the road that caused the experience to be less than acceptable. For starters, it took forever to have our drinks arrive. When we questioned the waitress, we were told that they couldn’t find the bottle of sake that was ordered. Knew they stocked that brand but just couldn’t lay their hands on it. 20 min later, a bottle was discovered but it wasn’t enough to provide a full drink. When the food arrived, it was another poor point. My friend ordered seared tuna and beleives that they took a frozen piece of tuna and seared it. Although the outside was somewhat seared, the inside was still very cold. Leading one to believe that this started it life as a frozen chunk before it hit the pan. My stir-fry was very bland. Not much flavor, nothing to enjoy or complain about. Overall, not a very pleasant experience. Will chose another site on the square the next visit to Knoxville.

I was reading the prior review and was ready to walk out but decided to give it a try. our experience here was very good, just a bit loud on a last Saturday night. Drink are solid, imported beer is reasonable priced, have Tom yum soup is excellent, all Thai dish are very good, food portion is large consider it is kind of hip restaurant.

First time I went it was lousy(Tom kha soup was ehh.) But I think they must have hired a new chef because I visited recently and was super pleased and shocked by my lovely wood grilled salmon dish with asparagus. Admittedly the jasmine rice was SO bland it required help from the hot sauce. The tri color tortilla chips are good along with a chunky avocado salsa and a variety of desserts– crème brûlée(3.5 stars of 5.) The sugar layer on top was too thick.

I’d like to think that this chic establishment was having an off night. But I doubt it. The menu is Asian/Latin infusion… hmmm could be good. But not on either of the two times I’ve dined here. On this occasion, the chips and salsa was the best thing we had. The Seared Tuna was… hmmmm, well I questioned whether or not it was REALLY Tuna! The texture was bad and the freshness was worse. Then there was the seafood Asian rice dish… I’ve forgotten the name… but the dish was NOT worth remembering. The best thing about this place is the patio. It’s in the middle of market square which is great for dining al fresco and people watching. Also the dining room is cool… So give it a try… enjoy the atmosphere, inside or out but don’t expect the food to compliment the ambiance. Cheers!

I used to eat lunch here occasionally… until I found out they had failed some health inspections. I don’t eat Asian very much, but their food always tasted good to me. I never saw any actual Asians working at Koi like you do at some on the other Asian takeout places(Fuji, Toyama, Taste of Thai), so I don’t know how authentic the flavors are. Service was always okay. On a special note, their food always cleaned me out approx, 1 hour after eating.

I would try this place at lunch if you’re going to. Lunch portions are smaller and come with either soup or a spring roll. The Tom Kha soup is really good, and the spring rolls aren’t bad but are expensive to get as an appetizer for what they are. I’ve had a couple of the chicken dishes and a noodle dish, and all of them were good. If you’re looking for a $ 10-ish Asian lunch in downtown, give it a try.

This place lacks both authenticity and adequate food safety standards. According to WVLT, Koi just failed a recent health inspection: Koi Fusion on Market Square scored a 68. — Box with drinking straws, plastic cups, and plates beside cleaners — Chicken and shrimp at potentially hazardous temperatures — Prep line cooler not keeping food at a safe temperature See for yourself at [ Posted: 5:27PM Jul 2, 2009 Last Updated: 6:55PM Jul 2, 2009

We were just so excited to try this place out. Really. Long day. Couldn’t have been hungrier. Atmosphere really really nice. But how do you mess up pad thai?
