For foods, I’d give mixed evaluations: we ordered calamari for appetizer which was super good. For entrée, only steak was worth the money. Never ever order seafood. Sea bass was a waste of money. Yes, it’s truly a «steak only house». Ok, the biggest complaint is for the service. The prime price at a restaurant also means prime service. Our waitperson passed by our table pretending to check with us. «More bread?» Never served. «More water?» Never asked. The worst service for the average food. I’d never go again. I want others to know about this place before wasting their big money.

Ruth Chris never ever disappoints! The food is phenomenal and so is the service. We celebrate all of life’s big events at Ruth Chris! In my experience if any business has a good product but bad customer service, that really takes away from the enjoyment of said good product. Ruth Chris wait staff listens to its guest and gives them what they want. The atmosphere in the restaurant and the view from the restaurant are exceptional. Everything I have ever ordered has exceeded my expectation. It is pricey and totally worth it!

Oh good gracious. This place. I ordered the petite filet with shrimp and my beau got the bone-in ribeye, and these will be what we probably forever compare all other steaks. We split an appetizer, two sides, and ended up with two desserts(not realizing that the complimentary birthday dessert for him was a pre-determined dessert and not something he could pick off the menu). There was nothing we didn’t completely enjoy and as full as we got we didn’t leave behind anything more than a few pieces of asparagus. Don’t go with a budget in mind. Go with the idea of trying something for every course and don’t miss the cocktails. Worth what you pay for, which is saying something.

we had a wonderful evening dinner tonight. it was our anniversary and with only a 45 min reservation warning we were welcomed with lots of «happy anniversaries» from the whole staff. they had also put out«happy anniversary» confetti on the table. offered us complimentary champagne and dessert. they even took a picture of us and printed it out as a gift. oh and let me not forget that the food was just top knotch, everything was so good!

Wow, I don’t even know where to start. My wife and I have been coming here for years and still love it as much as the first time. Our favorites: App: Mushrooms Stuffed with Crabmeat or Calamari Salad: Ruth’s Chop Salad or the Lobster Bisque Entrée: Petite Filet or the Caribbean Lobster Tail Sides: Spinach au Gratin & Sauteed Mushrooms Dessert: Berries with Sweet Cream or the Cheesecake Perks: — entrée comes on 500 degree plate — restrooms are clean — nice view of the river — usually free desserts with birthdays, anniversaries or some other occasions No quirks here. Go to this place and enjoy!

For the best in Knoxville… Oh, starting with the fine shrimp platter… Moving on to the awesome salad… Them to on my gosh… The best ribeye ever!!! Then the fantastically great desserts … If you are in Knoxville you need to make sure your waiter is the fabulous Andy.

When talking about a great meal, there are two factors to consider. 1) Quality. 2) Value. Ruth’s Chris tops the scales in one of the factors. Their food and drink are top notch. 5 stars if we’re just talking about quality. The staff is professional and friendly, and the food is delicious. My struggle here is that 10 hours after eating my meal, I’m up and not able to sleep because while it tastes great, it sits heavy. Not just heavy in the sense that I’m still feeling it in my stomach, but in the wallet as well. More on the expense later, but first, let’s talk about how great the meal was. My girlfriend and I attended a special wine pairing event that put some of their best meals with some of their best beverages and«oh my god» was muttered on multiple occasions. We started with the Shrimp ‘N Grits appetizer. Never before have I had more delicious grits, and more perfectly cooked shrimp. This was, in my mind, the highlight of the meal. Buttery goodness abounds, and I could’ve stopped here. The drink for this course was a front runner for my new favorite. An Old Fashion made with Tequila. Weird, I know, but it was damn good. Second course was a salad. It was sort of a spin on a caprese salad. Tomatoes, mozzarella, arugula, and a balsamic vinaigrette. Paired with a Robert Mondavi Chardonay. Salad was good, but not special. I would’ve skipped this course if it weren’t a set menu. I’m not the most knowledgeable person when it comes to wine, but this was my favorite wine of the night. Good stuff, but not extraordinary. Next was the French Onion Soup. Fortunately, it was the best French Onion Soup, I’d had all day. Coincidentally, it was the only French Onion Soup I’d had that day. I like it when a chef takes a step out and tries a different twist on a classic, but this departure was too far from a nearly perfect soup in its original form. Served in a dainty tea cup, the soup was fairly bland by most comparisons. Lacked the beefiness that you’d expect from this staple soup, ESPECIALLY considering that this is the best of the best steak house chains in the country. Where’s the beef, people? The cheese was baked into the bread, rather than broiled over the top. Nice twist, but it really shouldn’t have qualified as French Onion. The entrée was next, and it’s where Ruth’s Chris hangs their hat. The steak. A 12 ounce sirloin came sizzling to the table, and it smelled delicious. They do steak different here, and that’s sort of what sets them apart. The different method can be a real winner, or fall a little short. In times I’ve eaten here previously, it is perfect. Tonight, it had more crust than before, which is a nice contrast to the juicy insides of a steak, but it was a tad thick this time, which made the fat around the inside VERY tough, so if you didn’t cut it off right, and got a piece of fat, it was kind of like chewing a fried ballon. Fortunately I learned quickly, and worked harder to cut off the fat. Much better. The buttery flavor mixed with the beefy goodness is hard to beat. They definitely know what they’re doing here, and the cut of meat is a good one. To wrap it up, Crème Brulee. A crowd favorite desert with nearly anyone. A perfect crust of sugar on top of a creamy and smooth filling, garnished with fresh fruit. A scrumptious way to finish an extravagant meal. Paired with another Robert Mondavi wine, this time a Moscado. The combo of the dessert and wine wasn’t my favorite, but the two of them separately were excellent. Like I said early on, the words«oh my god» were muttered pretty regularly throughout the night, especially at the beginning and end, but when the bill came, there was only silence. For two people to eat this delicious food, it came to $ 237 before the tip. The wait staff was top notch and deserved more than a standard 20%, but unless you’re a surgeon or oil tycoon, who’s got that kind of money to drop with ANY regularity on a single meal for two? Ruth’s Chris is a good special occasion restaurant, but you better well know what you’re getting yourself into before you go. Now, for the pro tip that will give you the quality you’d expect without breaking the bank… Happy hour at the bar. Ruth’s Chris has a small but delectable menu that they serve in the bar for happy hour that isn’t just reasonable for Ruth’s Chris standards. It’s affordable by most standards. Great food. Decent prices, and the atmosphere is better here than in the main part of the restaurant, in my opinion. In summation, if you’re going to make a habit of eating at Ruth’s Chris, try the bar. Getting engaged or celebrating an anniversary with the one you love? There aren’t a lot of places that will take care of you better, so once every now and then, blow it out on a great meal here. The quality is 5 stars. The value is more likely 2 or 3.

The happy hour menu is AWESOME! Have had the crab BLT and the zucchini fries it comes with are really delicious. The steak sandwich is also a delicious option.

We did an impromptu stop in Knoxville en route to Memphis(from Jersey), so we did a quick check in at the hotel and then hopped the shuttle to Ruth Chris. The weather was beautiful even though we arrived late, so we opted to sit outside. The views were really nice. Food wise, it’s what you would expect from Ruth Chris – expensive, excellent service, good food and overall a great dining experience.

Ruth’s Chris is always delicious. I mean… a sizzling hot plate with a medium rare piece of anything crackling in melted butter and I will probably eat it. If you’re scared of the price, know that they feature a Ruth’s Classics(or something like that) prix fixe menu basically year round and this is the way to go. The French onion soup is extra-good. Further, they have a bomb happy hour with good food(crab BLT and spicy lobster) and drink specials and a view of the breathtaking, scenic abandoned Holston Gases building and partially-deconstructed former Baptist Hospital.(Sit on the patio and face Neyland instead). They have good cocktails and a GREAT wine list. Bön appetit.

In the field of local, franchised, expensive steak houses, this is at the top in my opinion. I only order meat when I go here —- I’m a huge fan of that 1800 degree oven that’s always touted. But it really is awesome. I went yesterday and had a special bone-in filet, which apparently was a big deal. On a 1400 pound cow, apparently only 4 or 5 pounds are bone-in filet meat. Who knew? Well, the server got me hook, line, and sinker, but it really was an incredible cut! As always, the plethora of side were incredible. Lobster mac, mushrooms, spinach au gratin, potatoes au gratin, onion rings… Oh… My… Also, I haven’t been to happy hour yet, but I’ve heard the selection and pricing is quite incredible. Put that on your radar!

Great steaks and sides but what is truly exceptional is the first-class service you receive. Well worth the higher prices. Outstanding desserts.

Even vegetarians know that Ruth’s Chris has amazing steaks! And seriously, I think we can all admit that if we could afford it, we’d eat at Ruth’s Chris on a regular basis. But that’s why Ruth’s Chris is one of those places that you go for a treat or special occasions. Unless you can find a way around that… and you can! Ruth’s Chris Steak House offers an incredible happy hour menu! Monday-Friday from 4:30 — 6:30, you can come treat yourself on a regular basis! You are limited to their bar area seating, but it has a really great view and usually has a pretty lively crowd. The happy hour menu consists of around 6 meal options and you can’t go wrong with any of them. I can’t seem to get past their steak sandwich. Cooked any way you order it(I always go with medium) and covered in bearnaise sauce, their thinly sliced and incredibly tender steak is served on a ciabatta roll that is toasted and slathered with some kind of garlicky-buttery heaven sauce. Along with a healthy portion of french fries, it’s hard to believe that this meal is only $ 8. No, that’s not a typo. All of their meal options that are on their happy hour menu are only $ 8. It’s kinda nuts. The mister and I went there for dinner on Thursday and walked out of the door for 2 entrees and before tip for $ 17.83. Craziness! They also serve several drink options for happy hour that are made with heavy pours and high quality liquor. It’s hard to find a better price on a stiff drink. If you are looking for a great, new happy hour spot, this should be the first place you stop!

My overall experience exceeded my expectation. Hands down, the service here is phenomenol. You truely get the guest service here and it shows. Come here on a special ocassion(ie, your birthday) and be pleasantly welcomed with bday confetti on the table linen. Try not to get full on the bread and butter. Save your apetite for the steak entrée. Be far warned that the sides are portioned big and family stylesque. Even the salads are gigantor! A good variety of mixed drinks are on the menu as well as beers. The real deal. I ordered my filet medium well. It came out perfect with pink. The side of mushrooms are delicious as well as the asparagus. When the entrees came out, it literally sizzled on the plate with rich aromas of butter. OMG the smell of hot butter is such an unbelievable experience. fyi– wear loose clothing and be prepared to eat well.

Each time I visit Ruth’s Chris, my dining experience continues to be more magical than the previous visit. I was lucky enough to win tickets to their Bubbles to Bordeaux French wine dinner at a Unilocal event(also held at Ruth’s Chris) last week. This dinner was spectacular. The champagne, wine and all five courses were scrumptious, and paired absolutely perfectly with one another. My favorite part was their generous portion of sizzling steak, and the French onion tart was fabulous. The staff was so accommodating, the atmosphere jubilant. And I won the drawing for a free bottle of champagne! This restaurant will definitely be seeing more of me in the future.

I was one of the fortunate few who was invited to sample Ruth Chris’s sizzle swizzle and swirl happy hour menu at Unilocal’s launch event recently and I have to say you MUSTGOTOHAPPYHOUR! This menu is delicious! The food is superb and this menu is priced according to the rich quality you are getting at Ruth Chris. At $ 8 a plate its a good deal and you can make dinner out of the sublime steak sandwich(delicious!!). The lobster bites are spicy and yummy. Crab BLT had real crab and not the fake stuff. Tenderloin was moist and delicious. The seared Ahi tuna was fantastic. Everything I ate was great. Now on to the drinks– it depends on what you fancy as to what you will like. Everything here is made from higher end liquors. Not the typical cheap stuff you get at happy hour. The $ 8 price reflects this but these drinks are worth every penny. They were created with pride by bartender Bill and delicious. The classic Cosmo was my favorite but Ruth’s Manhattan was a new spin on an old favorite. No drink was cheated on flavor or liquor. I sampled 5 of the happy hour drinks and everything was fantastic and high quality. They will not disappoint. I was lucky to be able to sample this menu and can’t wait to go back and eat again. GO! EAT! Drink and be merry!

Whether you are having a fancy steak dinner or dining at the bar after work, Ruth’s Chris will treat you right. The servers and bartenders are all fantastic! The happy hour menu is very good — especially the burger, steak sandwich, and the crab BLT. Z and I love to come here and order from the Ruth’s classics menu. You haven’t lived until you have had a filet from here. All delicious!
