Scrumps Cupcakes

I have not tried anything else from here so keep that in mind, but their cupcakes were awful. Dry, gritty. When a 7 & 5 year old take two bites of two different cupcakes and say I don’t want to eat this, you know it’s bad. What a disappointment especially for how much I paid.

Do not trust this business with your wedding day. When we went to the tasting, everything was delicious and the staff was nice. We ordered a bride’s cake, 100 mini groom’s cupcakes and 30 gluten free cupcakes. I paid an additional fee to have them delivered to the venue in Townsend. On the wedding day, however, they were very unprofessional and rude. They showed up hours too early (9:30 am) to deliver the cake at our outdoor wedding that was at 4 pm. The cake was covered with condensation and eventually began to lean. When I questioned the delivery guy, he said it would be fine, that it wasn’t hot outside and he had other deliveries to make. He was gone before I even had a chance to open the other boxes. Upon doing so, I realized that he had not delivered the groom’s cupcakes, only the GF ones. I immediately called the shop and explained the situation. The owner was extremely rude and tried her best to blame me for the situation. When she realized that I would have none of that, she then shifted blame to her employee. She claimed that I had not paid for the cupcakes and that her employee made a mistake. I told her that I would gladly pay for them if I had not but my understanding was that I had paid in full upon my last visit. She even told me that she thought it was weird that I only wanted 3 jumbo cupcakes for the top of the cupcake stand and had questioned her employee. (She had extensive notes for our order from our initial visit.) Why didn’t she call me? When I paid I had verified with the employee that I wanted 100 mini cupcakes and added 3 jumbo for the top of the cupcake stand. April acted as if it were not her responsibility at all. She spoke to very hatefully to me. She refused to deliver the missing cupcakes. She told me I could come pick them up if I wanted them. There was no way I could and everyone I knew was there helping me in prepping for the wedding and we could not afford the time traveling, just not possible. Plus it was their error. I told her I would go somewhere else. Thank goodness Miss Lilly’s Bakery in Townsend saved us and baked for us fresh, 100 delicious cupcakes & delivered them with a smile! Also, the gluten free cupcakes that Scrumps did deliver were inedible! We were so embarrassed because we had bragged to our GF friends about how good they would be. It is not worth the chance. Find another company who values their customers and is professional in their dealings.

Totally darling space! This is like every girl child’s dream for a birthday party! A-​DOR-​ABLE! Problem is: the cupcakes aren’t that great. They taste ‘gummy’ and chewy. The lemon icebox was okay to me. It had some zing. The candy bar cupcake was awful. it had so much liquid filling in the center when I took a bite it literally all fell to crumbs. Wet crumbs. Liquidy-​wet cake drenched into crumbs now. Pretty much just a bunch of goop. I had to wash my hands. Nice. The strawberry cupcake tasted ‘gummy’ and you had to chew on this cake to eat it. Hmmm. And then there was this big hard sparkly purple garnish thingy. Took one bite. It was a dipped strawberry. And it was the only item that was delicious! These guys need to go talk to edible arrangements or something about their strawberry biznez. Cuz the cupcakes are just not cutting it.

I’ve been twice and both times the cupcakes were dried out. I feel like they were sitting on the shelf for a week. I will not be back. Very sad cupcake it was.

These are the best cupcakes I’ve had in a long time!
The king: banana cupcake with peanut butter frosting & a marshmallow drizzle. The banana cake was great and tasted like real banana. My only qualm is that the pb frosting over powered the cake a bit. Still a great cupcake; I just had to ditch most of the frosting.
The rocky top: chocolate cake with salted caramel icing. THIS was cupcake perfection. A perfect balance of flavors! I’m NOT a fan of any cupcakes that have frosting as high as the cupcake is tall, (all of these are) but I didn’t complain about this salted caramel frosting :)
Very convenient ordering online the night before and they were ready to pick up the following afternoon.
We will order these again for the next birthday or event!

I have driven by Scrumps for almost 2 years now when taking the kids to school and I can’t tell you the number of times that I thought about stopping. It never seemed to work out until tonight.
Cupcakes are something that I hold in a very special place in my heart. After hanging your hat on competing on Cupcake Wars and with a saturation of cupcake shops in Knoxville, you have to deliver something pretty spectacular to stand out. Sadly, these cupcakes really missed the mark for me. The selection seems sparse. I appreciate the attempts at creativity of flavors, but when a 13 year old says that a chocolate cupcake with peanut butter icing is ‘meh’, you know that something is wrong. We selected 3 different flavors to share and try (Cherry Cordial, Chocolate with Peanut Butter, and Lemon) All of them seemed dried out. The cherry cordial were our favorites, but they were only ok. It seems weird to call a cupcake only ok, but there are local places that really just outshine this Scrumps. The cupcakes flavors were overrun with just a sugary sweet flavor rather than that of cherry or chocolate or lemon.
The shop itself was super cute. I love the bulk candy selection along the way. I didn’t notice a selection of drinks since we took ours togo, but milk would be a nice touch with the sugar overload.
Bottom line: If you’re looking for show stopping, smack your momma, OMG good cupcakes, these aren’t them. But they’re ok.

The mini-​cupcakes are moist and yummy! I tried 3 different flavors — red velvet, dark chocolate, and milk chocolate!
