The Gathering is a new concept for Knoxville. It’s part meeting place and part café. It’s housed in the old Regas restaurant space and has been recently renovated. The café is huge and beautiful. There is an array of seating from comfy couches to varied sizes of table tops to window bench seating. Whether you are coming here for a meeting, to study, or just grab lunch, there is a spot here for you. Be warned: if you are coming here and need to plug in, the seating: Plug in ration is lacking. The kitchen is managed by a well known downtown restaurant(Café 4) and offers breakfast and lunch options. You will find the same soups that you will at Café 4 and a variety of panini style sandwiches. The food is good, but not great. The portions are decent and the prices are good. My only beef with the place is their Keurig station. It’s not because of the quality of the coffee. After all, there are enough spots close by to grab a great cup of joe. This is just the hippie in me talking, but I love the earth. K-cups are kinda evil. They can’t be recycled and it just seems like excessive waste in the name of convenience.(Stepping down from soap box now.) I dig the concept here a lot and I’m sure that I will be back here plenty when it comes time to head back to classes.
