I went to the University After Hours clinic yesterday with severe back pain. I had previously went to another clinic in the area for the same problem approximately two weeks ago. At that time the pain was only in my back and, after the doctor checked my reflexes, I was told that I had a pinched nerve. The doctor prescribed hydrocodone and heat and kept me out of work two days. The hydrocodone wasn’t helping the pain so I stopped taking it but followed the other directions I was given. My back pain became increasingly worse and now involved my right leg. The pain was so severe that I left work early and went to the University After Hours clinic. I saw Dr. Lori Staudenmaier and after examination she diagnosed me with sciatica (pinched nerve). Instead of giving me pain medication she gave me a very strong anti-​inflammatory and a muscle relaxer. It’s only been one day and I feel 70% better than I have the last two weeks!
