Versus Game Lounge

A friend and I were looking for something to do after dinner in Market square and I’d passed this before and wanted to check it out. I’m not much of agamer, but I do like the occasional Rock Band/​Guitar Hero game or some silly SmashBrothers so as an alternative to a movie we spent an hour cracking ourselves up as the worst guns & roses cover band ever. Reasonable rates for an hour or two of entertainment, either with friends or by yourself. i noticed someone playing Bioshock which is way too hard for me to learn, but it was a pretty game to see. Also if you have friends in other towns, they can join on any of the networked games, like rock band. Will totally do again!

Versus is one of very few (I know of one other.) places in Knoxville where gamers can actually go to play games. They have six large flat-​panel displays connected to two each of this generation’s gaming consoles. They keep copies of all the hot games which can be played for a reasonable hourly rate. In the corner of the main floor sits an obviously old television connected to several older consoles which may be played at a lesser rate than this current generation’s. Sodas and bottled water are also offered.
The basement is a large room with a stage where weekly live music is held on Friday nights. Versus also holds gaming tournaments featuring popular titles for all the latest consoles.
The interior is beautiful and comfortable. The walls are adorned with very cool gaming-​themed artwork by some local artists which is also for sale. Space invaders vinyls adorn the walls. I didn’t have the chance to do any gaming, but I did enjoy their free wi-​fi for a little less than an hour. I also chatted with the person who was overseeing the operation at the time, Tyler. He told me about some events they had planned and gave me a tour of the place.
Being a gamer myself, this place really seems to have its pulse on the gaming scene. I appreciate the decorating touches, the atmosphere, and, of course, the games! I plan to return within the next couple of weeks to try out Wii Fit!
