I stayed at Trinity in September 2010, and was almost admitted May 2012 of this year. When I stayed in September, the doctor(Dr. Krieder) that I had was very rude and insensitive to my illness. His bedside manner was non existent! When I was almost admitted in May, I refused to stay because I was told the same doctor was still on call, and I did not want to deal with him again. I mentioned how I didn’t want to stay, because I disliked the doctor and how being committed is much like being in prison.(While I know it’s not really like prison, it’s still upsetting to not be able to go outside and get some fresh air whenever.) The desk nurse(Crystal) was very insulting to me and my boyfriend at this point. She said«It’s not a prison, I’ve worked in a prison, you’ve got it good here.» I asked her if she had ever been in a mental facility, she replied ‘I work in one every day.” I followed it up by asking if she had ever been committed to a mental ward, and she said no. I told her that because she has never experienced what I was going through, she had no room to talk. I am glad that my boyfriend was there to back me up, because if I had stayed, my mental state would have been exasperated by stressful, rude people who think that people with mental problems are not worth helping.
