As a Hyatt Diamond Member I have had to pleasure of enjoying great dining at Hyatt properties all over the world. From the Park Hyatt Tokyo’s «Delicatessen» to the Grand Hyatt Singapore’s wonderful Mezza9. This evening’s foray to the Grand Hyatt Kauai left me a little more than perplexed. I love this property. It’s one of my favorite locations on this planet. But when a world class view at sunset is relegated to an unsatisfactory experience because the food is akin to a bad day at L&L Drive inn, you know somethings not quite right. The Kalbi skewer was the best of the three things we ordered but even that was chewy and lacked flavor. The coconut prawns were barely warm and scraggly. The Poke wrapped in Nori was a deep fried horror. Let me just say our server at the Seaview Terrace was graceful and lovely. The drinks were exquisite. The fellow who dropped off our food however, actually dropped our food on top of the menu and left with a huff. All in all not quite what I am used to at the Grand Hyatt Kauai. I hate when it’s like they aren’t even trying to make it mediocre. g
