The whole office is wonderful! I have 6 kids ranging 3 – 11 and they have been nothing but accommodating and helpful! The kids actually get excited about dentist appointments!

Unfortunately my two recent experiences at Avalon Dental haven’t been the best. I’ve had four procedures there. Three intended(two wisdom tooth extractions, one molar filling) and one unintended(molar extraction). While the staff is ultra pleasant and Dr. Grant has a wonderful chair side manor. I found myself the recipient of what I would term, self serving advice. I lost part of a filling several months ago. Went to Avalon for a diagnosis: Replace the part of the molar filling that was lost. As Dr. Grant proceeded, I was advised to «remove and replace the whole filling, if it was my tooth.» Sound advice I thought. I thought wrong. I should have stopped procedure there, and may have ultimately saved my tooth. To remove the remainder of the old filling an aggressive bit was applied to my tooth, that sent chunks flying and felt/sounded like a jack-hammer in my head and went on for several minutes. At the conclusion, I breathed a sigh of relief and I paid my deductible(over $ 250.00 if memory serves) and left. In the following days and months the tooth never felt right. It was sore, seemed to swell off and on at the gum line, and was on occasion sensitive to cold and heat. As it turns out, it became infected soon after the filling at Avalon. Five months later after the tooth being tender again, I woke up one morning with a swollen face, jaw and burning gum. I called Avalon and went in the next day. X-rays confirmed the infection at the root of the molar. Dr. Grant said, «yes we got too close to the root and it got infected. It’s always a possibility.» A root canal was promptly suggested. And the«work was guaranteed.» I needed a few minutes to think this over. And I was presented with all the insurance/financial information in that time. If memory serves $ 200 towards an Endodontist of my choice was offered. But there I sat with a swollen face, jaw and aching gum. Waiting for an appointment elsewhere was out of the question. Also after the jack-hammering I endured removing the old filling in the first place, going through the same again was also out of the question. Nothing would be applied to the root canal procedure cost at Avalon Dental($ 1869.00 total, $ 689.00 for me). Also I had a painful root canal procedure elsewhere several years ago. The tooth eventually cracked anyway and it had to be removed in a very uncomfortable and lengthy extraction procedure. When the nurse came in, she said…“so let’s get started on that root canal?” I said, «no.» And opted for an extraction. My insurance was billed, I paid my part($ 81.00) and left.

Love this place! Not a fan of going to the dentist but this makes it as enjoyable as possible. They give you a paraffin hand wax while you get your teeth cleaned in a massage chair. The staff is very friendly and accommodating.

Hands down, the BEST dental experience of my life so far! I cannot believe a place of this caliber exists in such a small town, in Idaho of all places! Dr. Grant is so sweet and sincere. Every one on his staff that I had interactions with were equally as nice and genuine. On top of it all, they have massage chairs and even offer parafin wax for your hands during your cleaning!!! Amazing! Also, if you’re a new client they offer free lifetime whitening as long as you remain a client. I highly recommend this place.
