This place is amazing!!! We visited Freddies after a drive from Raleigh. Normally we head to Atlantic beach but chose to visit Kure Beach this year instead. You MUST visit Freddies. The food is out of this world, the service is beyond compare, and the ambience will remind you of a small family restaurant in Europe. EVERYTHING was on point. I will definitely go back.

Freddie’s is the place for some great Italian food or Pork Chops. The food is always delicious and the staff(which never seems to change) are always super friendly and helpful. The only criticism I can think of is the décor which is badly in need of some updating. Other than that this place is really great!

We were there last night for Zuppa di Pesce(I know we always order the same thing) and it was excellent. As you would expect the actual seafood used varies depending on availability and price point. Still excellent. We’re planning to go back in a few days to try another seafood dish, we are at the beach after all.

Tiny space, moderate wait, but well worth it. The food was incredible. My fiancé and I think it’s a perfect place for a date night, with some of the best food you will be able to enjoy in Kure Beach. I got the Cajun pasta and he got the famous pork chop. It’s a must dine if you are local or from out of town! Enjoy :)

First the first time ever, I’m sorry I listened and believed these Unilocal reviews. We were utterly and completely underwhelmed by Freddie’s. Curtis, our waiter, and the hostess were the ONLY bright spots during our visit. To begin with, why have a wine list if you don’t have ANY of the wines on the list available? We ordered three separate bottles, only to find out that they were out of all of them. We finally gave up and started ordering martinis as the only wines left were either the ridiculously expensive or crappy cheap. Oh well, onto the food… the house salad was good, have to give them that, but the food… YUCK! Everything was WAY over sauced and completely overcooked. I ordered veal parm, which was so covered in overcooked red sauce that I couldn’t find my veal. We sent it back as I’d asked for light sauce, and it came back again just as heavily sauced. The veal had a spongy consistency too, which was off putting. I did see a guy next to us order a pork chop, which looked amazing. Perhaps stay away from the Italian at the Italian restaurant? I know they’ve been in business forever, so perhaps it was just a bad night? Not impressed ATALL and I never give bad reviews… this should tell you something.

I expected Freddie’s to be good, but I was not expecting it to be as good as it was. My takeout order was the special chop with balsamic sauce and cherry peppers, zucchini with tomato sauce, and crusty bread. The chop was grilled to perfection and was incredibly succulent. The smokeyness of the chop contrasted well to the acidity of the balsamic sauce and the spiciness of the cherry peppers. The best chop I had ever tasted. The tomato sauce on the zucchini was rich and sweet and was the best tomato sauce I had ever had from a restaurant. The bread is also phenominal, with a crusty outside and a fluffy inside. Everyone at the table was impressed with the food. I can now understand why people rave about Freddie’s pork chop so much. We also got some of the Barb’s dressing which went great on our salad. Freddie’s is truly a hidden gem in Kure Beach.

Disappointed. Here’s why: beer. We waited about 45 minutes to get in on a Friday evening, and that’s to be expected. No problem. Cute little place, only 11 or 12 tables I think. Service was not up to par. But to the beer. They had blue moon on tap. Put my order in. He came back two more times with various items, finally the third time he came back this has been about 10 minutes since we put in the drink orders. I asked if I had put in my drink order? He said they were still waiting. Appetizer came and then he tells me the keg kicked. Serious! After $ 15 minutes you finally tell me this?! You don’t have another keg on standby. Bar management is a bundle of poo here. The delay on this was seriously a huge bummer for me. My other concern: service. Outside of the previous issue. But we waited almost ten minutes after we asked for more bread. And then it was only after we asked the kid who was doing water and tea refills for bread that we got it. Food was great. Service? I won’t be back.

Freddie’s is small so be prepared to wait. You can give them your number and go next door for a beer/cocktail and Freddie’s will call you when your table is ready. It’s def worth waiting for! The salad is one of the best salads Ive had. And while their Alfredo sauce is the best Alfredo I’ve ever had… I recommend getting one of the signature steaks. You can substitute pasta with Alfredo as your side!

They only take reservations for parties of 7+ and its small but this place is worth the wait! The food was exceptional and the servers we extremely friendly. The calamari appetizer was one of the best I’ve ever had. The Shrimp Fra Diavla was amazing as were the veal and pork chops. Everyone enjoyed their meals. We ordered a reasonably priced yet tasty bottle of wine. Freddies is at the top of my list for Kure Beach.

Italian Gumbo was delicious! Service is top notch! I would recommend eating at Freddie’s if you haven’t already done so. You eat here one time you will be back. Awesome place!

Freddie’s wants to be a throw back Italian restaurant with soul… checkered table cloth, booths — special old time family restaurant you remembered from childhood. And that is what this restaurant is marketing itself as. In fact, the food is just passable. We ordered the fried calamari. It was extremely salty, greasy and the mainara sauce had no depth of flavor. We both ordered the«signature«pork chops »: one plain grilled, one with cherry peppers. The pork chops were chewy and grizzly… no taste, suggesting an inferior cut. In fact, the plain pork chop had a taste /smell of propane. The side pasta marinara was the same that accompanied the calamari — tasteless, no depth of flavor. Forget this place unless you are desperate for the old world italian atmosphere or stuck in Kure Beach without options !

The atmosphere is fantastic, the waiters friendly and the food delish. I had the Freddie’s signature pork chop and it was perfectly cooked and had great flavor. The spaghetti w/meat sauce and the spaghetti w/marinara were also stellar. Finished with the Guiness chocolate cake — boom! That’s the way to end a meal.

Went to Freddie’s tonight with a party of 6, 2 kids. Overall service was really good, even though they got really busy by the time we left. Food was really good, we all got pork chops except the kids. They got spaghetti… Which at an Italian restaurant should have been perfect… Well it was far from good. Marinara was very lack luster and noodles were slimy and gross. The meatball was an extra charge and was made with mostly filler and very little meat. As for the pork chops, all pork chops that were speciality were fantastic. The basic grilled chop was good, but very fatty and hard to cut. One other slight issue was the prices on the menu were not the same as the prices on the website… Just a heads up.

No finer place to eat at Kure Or Carolina Beach. Whether you want a fine steak, Classic Italian, or pork chop, you can’t go wrong. Service is the best from the time you enter the door until you leave, and you can take home a bottle of great salad dressing as well. Went twice while on the coast. First was the best filet mignon in the state, served salad, mushrooms and choice of a side of pasta. Also warm bread is served as soon as you sit down. Second trip included a wonderful pork chop with all the extras listed above. We never go to, the beach without a trip to Freddie’s!

The salad with house made dressing was absolutely to die for! We could not stop eating it! Warm homemade bread along with the salad was yummy. My husband had the best pork chop he’s had in a longtime. As a side he had pasta with homemade meat sauce. Very good! I had shrimp scampi that was tender and very flavorful.

Food is 5star, service is 5star, the hostess(Cynthia) was bad at best. Maybe she was having an off night, but we called in the see how long the wait would be, she acted like she didn’t have time for the call, once we got there, same feeling, no smiles, no small talk, and«lucky» for us we sat by the front door and experienced this the entire time we were there. Now to the food and other service for our party of four. We had chicken florentine, spaghetti, lasagna, and chicken parm. Allllll of these were cooked to perfection with just enough seasoning. The bread and olive oil starter was warm and fluffy, perfect. Drink glasses never emptied! Portion sizes would easily be shared, we all had take home meals. The atmosphere is very small town charm and all the servers were very friendly. Definitely recommend reservations!

This is the second time we had visited this restaurant. After tonight’s experience, we will make it a point to always eat here when we are near Wilmington Beach or Carolina Beach, North Carolina. It is an Italian restaurant, but everything on their menu is just perfect for for any taste. We had a fillet mignon, stuffed pork chop, and lasagna. All three dishes were delightful. Just a couple of additional notes. First, the prices are somewhat high. Second, the restaurant is small. Third, it’s a good idea to make a reservation before going to the restaurant. From now on, whenever we are near Wilmington, North Carolina or Carolina Beach, North Carolina, we will make it a point to eat at this establishment.

No trip to the beach would be complete without a visit to Freddie’s. Italian is not what one thinks about when going to the beach, but this is a not to miss place! It’s tiny inside with about a dozen tables or so and unless you make a reservation well in advance, chances are you may not get in. Perfect place for intimate meal for two or a very small group. The pasta’s are wonderful, the chops some of the best I’ve had anywhere, and a wonderful homemade house dressing that you can also buy to take home. They also do early bird specials from 5 – 6 a few days a week, a great savings and have a two-fer pork chop night. I think they list what days they are on their Facebook page.
