I’ve had sushi around the world. You cannot find a better balance of value and quality anywhere. We regularly get take-out for lunch. They do a strong take-out business, which is why you can’t judge based on how many folks are in the restaurant. And the food is fresh, made-to-order. This is not«fast food» — it is hand-rolled, fresh sushi. Thanks, TK’s!

TK Sushi is highly under rated based on the reviews here. I highly recommend it! This husband and wife team create very fresh, and very delicious sushi rolls. We love to get take out lunch here(look for specials) at least once a week, and it’s a regular date night place for us too. This is not fast food, everything is made to order, so definitely be prepared for that.(A number of reviews mentioned long delays– the freshness and taste is worth it.) One thing to be aware of: we don’t like any sushi with cream cheese in it, they seem to have a number of specials that include cream cheese. On the plus side, you can order spicy rolls with whole fish meat: not minced or chopped(for a small up charge) and that is amongst the best sushi outside of Morimoto or the Bay Area(if not Tsukiji fish market.)

The overall score for TK’s on Unilocal is a travesty. Kutztown is lucky to have such a high quality sushi joint. Travel outside of KU into Berks County and you’ll find unfresh and imitation everything in their sushi rolls — but not at TK’s. The reason they are closed one day a week is because the owners are driving to Philadelphia to pick up all the fresh fish(my roomate worked at China King when I went to KU and both restaurants are owned by the same people). I loved going to TK’s after Eagles games on Sunday’s with friends. We could house a boat of sushi, while watching the 4pm football game. I’d bring girls here for dates also.

Too bad I can’t give this place zero stars. Everything is bad staring with a green tea out of tea bag, ending with a 20 minute wait for miso soup and 25 for nasty tasting thick warm sushi. The catch? — I was the only person in this restaurant! Not that I’ll ever be there again but if you happen to be in Kutztown — avoid

Had a great experience iverall. Sushi was very fresh. The service was a little slow but it appears that they get a lot if take out. That and the fact that the stuff is all made right there. Décor was basic and they could have used a divider so u dont see some of the less appealing back door area.

Pretty bad sushi, the spicy tuna is definitely from canned tuna. Service is slow. Overall, not too great.

Pretty good sushi! Portion size was a bit small for my spider roll but still pleased.

I’d say best sushi in the area, but that is a low bar. Great for the price and it is a convenient location. Everything is made to order(and honestly should be), so it may take some time to get your food. The only annoying thing is they don’t open on Saturdays.

This place is almost always dead. I was very surprised since it’s right on Main St. in Kutztown. The sushi is bigger than most & it’s reasonably priced. I really enjoyed the delicious sauce that they placed on top of their sweet potato roll. However, I was very pissed off when I paid $ 2.25 for two bites of lettuce that they had the audacity to call a salad. They put this nasty sauce on top that resembled diarrhea. It’s BYOB, but you’re not allowed to bring outside non-alcoholic beverages in. It’s $ 2 for a soda & then &.75 per refill. What in the hell?! Way to rob people without a gun.

Never again will I visit TK! After being a loyal customer during my years at Kutztown University, TK lost my business with the worst customer service experience of my life! I arrived one Saturday evening and the place was fairly busy. We didn’t mind, however. The waitress seemed frazzled as she got our drink order, but we tried our best to keep polite. We ordered our dinner, and proceeded to wait over 45 minutes and saw other tables get their dinners while we had none. We asked the waitress if she had an idea of how long it would take and she estimated another hour. We had no idea we could wait that long for sushi!!! Well, we decided that we didn’t have the time to wait that long and cancelled our order. The waitress at this point was obviously very upset and demanded we pay our check EVENTHOUGHWEONLYHADWATER at that point. We refused, obviously, and she went on a rampage and yelled at us. We should have known, after all, that if a restaurant has 10 tables full it will take about 2 hours!

Wish they got more business here. Sushi is always good and a great price.

I attended college in Kutztown, and visited TK’s regularly. The prices are great for college students, who make up a lot of the town population. I’ve had sushi at many locations over the years, but TK’s is still my favorite. I recommend the Tiger Tail roll and the Volcano Roll. The atmosphere of the restaurant is nice – it’s small and casual, but still fairly classy for a college town. I think my only complaint about the atmosphere would be that it’s smelled a little fishy lately. There’s a wall-mounted TV that usually on a kids channel and muted, probably for the owners’ elementary age(and adorable) sons. The service is good. The owners greet you when you walk in, and the waitresses are usually pretty attentive. The owners have thick accents that sometimes make them difficult to understand if you’ve grown up around only American accents, but the waitresses speak English as their first language. We were actually turned away once because they ran out of rice three hours before closing, but that’s the only time there’s ever been a problem with ingredient availability. If you’re eating with someone who isn’t a big fan of sushi, they have other items like shrimp tempura that are pretty filling. I’d highly recommend this for college students and locals.

The sushi is pretty cheap, and it’s close to my office. I can’t say that it was«great» sushi(because it really wasn’t), but they’re pretty cheap(compared to the neighboring places) and have some friendly staff. Basically, a big«meh». I wasn’t «wowed», but it wasn’t unpleasant, either. Be prepared for a long wait if you show up around dinner. My recommendation? Walk a few blocks west and get some sushi at Yakko’s.

This was some bad sushi: mushy, bland and worst of all… warm. Service was bad, too. Never again.
