Service was very good. Very busy but staff was great. Appetizers were wonderful –Armadillo eggs, fried pickles and Chipotle oysters. Etoufee was not very good. Roux was very heavy. Tasted like it was seasoned with Louisiana boil. Same for gumbo. Was not very good. Poor seasoning, heavy roux and no real flavor. Red beans and rice were very dry. Was edible but not a true showing of Cajun foid. If you have eaten real Cajun food. Don’t get your hopes up.

Good food. Good service. I enjoyed the Cajun combo. My daughter didn’t like her fries. Other than that… This is a good local choice.

Was seated at the worst table, right by the bathrooms with direct view of the kitchen while waiting for others in our party to arrive. Watched the cook pick his nose, then washed his hands. Then grabbed another paper towel and blew his nose, then right back to cooking. Absolutely disgusting. Rest of our party arrived and we left and ate at Old Crow instead, which was fantastic.

Service is prompt and polite. Food comes out quickly! We came here Mother’s Day and it was surprisingly not busy. We ordered Greek salad, Cajun combo(best part was the tilapia) and the eggplant smothered in rich cheesy sauce with seafood. Had I known it would be smothered I would have asked for sauce on side. It was far too rich and greasy. We could only stomach a few bites before pushing the sauce over. Otherwise it was tasty and satisfying. But overall everything was tasty. You can probably pass on gumbo and jambalaya as it didn’t wow us over but the fish and seafood eggplant were solid choices. So because of that and the great service I give this place 4 stars.

Awesome!!! Only restaurant we must go to every year when in town for Oktoberfest. Buzzard eggs are out of control. Have not had a bad bite at this place and about 20 friends/family that have visited agree 100%.

Not bad but absolutely no spice. Jambalaya and gumbo were pretty good but I had to dump hot sauce into them. Cajun fried catfish was not very good. Pretty mushy and not much flavor. Ostrich eggs were probably the best thing we had. Chicken wrapped in bacon with cheese and jalapeños in the middle. Overall the food was fairly mediocre and nothing to write home about.

It’s always busy for a reason. the food is to die for! And they have a martini bar located above the restaurant while you wait(which is equally amazing). Service is always efficient too!

My FAVORITE La Crosse restaurant, and maybe even my favorite restaurant period! Takes me back to my college days at UWL :-) The atmosphere is fun and quirky and the food has never disappointed me. One caution is that it can be very busy on weekends and they don’t take reservations on weekends. This past Saturday, albeit Valentine’s Weekend, the wait for a table at 6:30 was an hour and a half. If you’re not in a hurry, its worth the wait! If you do decide to wait(or are wanting a night cap after dinner), head on upstairs to the Starlite Lounge for a delicious martini or appetizer! They have wine, beer, and other cocktails, too, so don’t worry if martinis aren’t your style. The highlight for me on this trip, though, being in my newly pregnant state, is that they actually have a section of their drink menu dedicated to mocktails!

We’re local and enjoy Buzzard Billy’s whenever we can. Last night we went out on a «date night» and the place was packed because of the wrestling tournament in town. The staff worked hard and cleaned the tables quickly. We were seated in about 20 minutes as promised and our server Julie was prompt and took great care of us. We ordered the famous Armadillo Eggs(pepper jack stuffed chicken balls wrapped in bacon) and oh my goodness are these just perfect. This is a good sized app and beyond words great. For dinner we both ordered shrimp Po’boy sandwiches and again, they were perfect. I really have to compliment the manager, Rob and our server, Julie for making our date night dinner awesome. As for anyone who is in the area, you MUST stop by and experience Buzzard Billy’s. Great food, great service and an overall great experience. We’ll be back soon.

Came in to watch the game and have some food, wait staff was really nice, but longer we sat the more she ignored us on getting more drinks. But it was rather busy so quite understandable. We started the night with apps, that is where my night ended. I got the nachos and wow I couldn’t even finish them! Were very good though. The gf got a shrimp po boy with a side of rice and beans said the po boy was good, but the beans were extra and not fresh or very good. Still all in all I enjoyed the food and had a great night. Definitely coming back.

The food was good, a little slow to come out but seating at the bar time went by quick. The mozzarella sticks were the biggest I have seen anywhere, so don’t expect the regular size ones. They were good

First off, I want to start this review by saying we have always had great service here. Always friendly, this wait staff actually seem to like their jobs! It makes the entire dining experience that much more fun. Having eaten here a few times, I always make sure to start off the meal with their amazing buzzard eggs, which I think they now call armidillo eggs. Jalepenos with cheese in a chicken ball wrapped in bacon?! Wow. Between my wife and I, we have tried quite a few things on the menu. None have really let us down. The jambalaya is good, perfect amount of spice. The muffalata sandwhich is huge and one of the best sandwiches I’ve had in La Crosse. The chicken creole is great and spicy enough to make my spicy loving wife down a couple glasses of water. Anything from their blackened menu is delicious. And their hush puppies are good and comes with a sauce that pushes them into greatness category. All reasonably priced as well.

Loved it! Good food, beer and atmosphere! Must try it to believe it! Tried the Armadillo eggs and the pee-row. I never had eggplant served this way, and would definitely order it again.

The Good: The food is great. The Monster-rella Stix(Mozzarella Stix) are huge and incredible. The Nachos could easily feed 4 – 6 people, and are delicious. The Armadillo Egg app is also wonderful, and the Cajun Chicken pasta is amazing. Even the Chicken Sandwiches are great. The atmosphere and décor are fun and clean. The Bad: the service sucks. The Host was grumpy. He must have been called in on his day off, or he’s just naturally unfriendly. Our server was friendly, but among the slowest I’ve ever had. We asked for water twice and had to go get it ourselves from the bar. The 2nd round of drinks took 20 minutes, the average time between server visits, and finally arrived when we were ready to leave. We took that cost out of the server’s tip, as we drank less that 1⁄3 of them. If Management is reading this, we sat near the entrance, and our visit was Oct. 14th at 6:30PM. If service here was even sub-par, this would be one of the top La Crosse eateries.

The staff was great! The local craft beer was good. The atmosphere & old building was pretty cool. My husband liked his Cajun nachos. My daughter’s mini corn dogs were cooked so «well» they were hardly recognizable much less edible. My shrimp po’boy, for a restaurant that has mainly Cajun dishes, was pretty sub-par, and the side of hush puppies were flavorless. Boo. On a side note, the kid was highly entertained by the fish hanging from the ceiling fan…

Apparently this place is a small chain. The idea of a cajun place being one of the better spots in town came off a little strange to me. Surprisingly, I found the food exceptional. I ordered the jerk chicken pasta and it was delicious! It had just the right amount of kick. They also have a good selection of craft beer on tap, which is nice. The service was friendly but our waitress forgot to bring out a side. She quickly rectified the mistake so it was no big deal.
