Fantastic studio. One of the best yoga classes I have ever taken, and I don’t typically like hot yoga! I was in town for a conference and looking for something to do. I chose Root Down based on their website and class descriptions(the«hour of power» class I went to really was for all ages and all abilities). Parking is incredibly easy(as is parking in most of La Crosse… I am from DC so parking less than a few blocks from your destination, yet alone right in front, is amazing). There is a huge lot directly in front of the building, and it’s free. The studio is BEAUTIFUL. Impeccably clean, tasteful and inviting decorations, and just an all around cool vibe. I was immediately relaxed and confident I picked the right place upon walking in. I signed up for my class online in advance(highly recommend you sign up in advance– my class was packed). The staff that helped me was incredibly friendly and welcoming. I’ve done yoga before but by no measure am an expert or very experienced. She made me feel relaxed about coming to a new class, and was so incredibly nice. They have lovely mats and towels for you to use, and their equipment is really really nice. I could tell the towels were super clean because the still had a faint smell of bleach or super strong cleaner. The class was almost packed full; it was the highest concentration of people I’ve seen in La Crosse thus far! The instructor, Nick, was fantastic. He was equally friendly and made me feel comfortable in a new class. The class was a very eclectic group: some seemed like experts, others beginners, and I think the age ranged from 17−65+. It was pretty interesting to see so many people there! Also a relatively equal distribution of men and women(way to go men!). The class was just totally awesome. Nick provided great instruction for poses that beginners could easily understand, and he always provided options to modify the pose to be more difficult or less difficult. He was positive and encouraging. The class was very quick — moving from one position to the next at rapid speed, which I really liked. I never felt behind though — it was a great pace. Not too much time spent on holding positions or trying to meditate — it was the perfect balance of relaxing and exercise. I learned a lot of new poses, too! I would totally come back to La Crosse from Washington, DC just to take this class again. It was truly amazing. Also, I second the other reviews — laughing was definitely appreciated in the class! :)

Went back for another class. I highly recommend Amber as a teacher. I was a huge fan of her class. Like my previous review, the building is beautiful and the owners are friendly. Love this place.

It’s so exciting to have Root Down Yoga in La Crosse. I have never heard people laugh in a yoga class like some people laughed in our«Hour of Power,» packed row-by-row and sweating and moving, and I think it is because they were having so much fun! Similarly, I don’t know if I have ever been around so many La Crossians in a public event without booze involved! Mandy, the studio owner, teachers a power yoga style in a heated room. You will perspire so bring a towel and water. And bring an open mind because this style of yoga is all about challenging your body and spirit. The class packages are quite reasonably priced and drop-in style which makes this studio’s yoga both affordable and accessible. I can’t wait for my next class!
