Finally a bar in La Crosse with a great beer selection! Fast, friendly, and knowledgeable bartenders. For the city with the most bars per capita it took long enough to open one worth visiting. Definitely recommend!

I really enjoy the Golden Tap for many reasons. They have an amazing beer selection and they rotate it out with new ones to sample regularly. Their appetizers are great: the pretzel, the hummus with lamb, the beef nachos to name a few. I also enjoy their meals such as the lamb burger. The design of the place is also great. They took an old Midas shop and converted it into the restaurant/bar. I love it when the weather is good and they open the«garage doors». Lately the owner has been trying new recipes and let me sample them. The soup was great, as well as the new hot dip.

Excellent beer selection. Tasty food(hot handcut fries, fresh cucumber & tomato, excellent seasonings). Great atmosphere. Good service. It’s hard for a restaurant to get all of these things together. I’d definitely recommend it.

This place could have been a contender against Bodega, but sadly, it comes up far short — and mainly for one reason: poor service. A group of coworkers and I recently went the The Golden Tap for happy hour. The waitress was surly and unwelcoming. She behaved as if we were a huge inconvenience. Perhaps she was having a bad day? She brought two of us what were clearly the wrong beers and was angry when one of us asked for a new one, rolling her eyes, stomping over to the hostess stand and clearly complaining about our table to her coworkers with her arms crossed. We continued to wait for our order during this time, for many of us 20+ minutes passed… and we were the only table. This all transpired while the owner sat in the corner drinking a beer. I want this place to do well. To get there, they’ll have to correct the staffing situation. I had been here two times previously with service that was slightly friendlier, but still slow. There is not enough of a compelling reason for me to return, so I’ll spend my next happy hour somewhere… happy.

Wonderful Mediterranean food: Baba Ganoush, Tatziki, Hummus, Grape Leaves, Tabouleh. Most comfort bar stools and chairs… great venue for watching sports — Go, Packers! $ 2 off 48 beer taps. Yummilcious!

Loved the food. Two apps: beef nachos on pita chips with great toppings and truffle fries with a few dipping sauces. AMAZING beer selection and a staff that knows the beers. Great atmosphere, clean, good music. Very happy to spend more time here!

Okay so I tried the humongous pretzel and I have to say, very well done. But for even a fat kid like me, I would recommend sharing it… or like Sara the outstanding bartender suggested to take it home for later. The staff are just great here. Friendly and welcoming. Ask Sara what beers to try. She has a pallet that would marvel most. She can pair the foods and get you to where you need to be in your favorite beverage. The ambience is great for a happy hour. Music just up enough to have background and not mess up conversation. But if you are solo you can enjoy the tunes! Well done. Prost!

Great bar… if you can’t find a beer from this place it may not exist. Sorry no domestic though. Did not try the food but the atmosphere is fantastic. Great downtown bar.

I’ve read the negative and average reviews below, and I honestly don’t understand nor agree with them. To each their own, I guess. I think this place is fantastic!!! The owners have done an amazing job! The interior has a bright, cheery, wide open concept that has been beautifully remodeled. The place has a hip, cool, welcoming and friendly vibe. I’ve eaten here at least 4 times, and they haven’t even been open a month yet. Each time, the food has been delicious! I’ve tried a variety of things on the menu: Mediterranean plate, Hummus and Lamb, Greek salad, Gyros, Falafel, and Kebabs. The lamb in particular is outstanding! I try to avoid eating beef, but I must say the Turkish flatbreads, MeTeeTay, Beef Gyro, and Beef kabobs all look very tempting. It is absolutely great to have a restaurant in La Crosse that if you are a vegetarian, vegan, non-beef eater, or lactose intolerant — -there are nearly as many terrific options for you on the menu, as for your meat-eating and cheese loving friends and family. Hurray for this!!! Anyone in this position who likes to eat out in the area will know what I mean. The quality of the food is first-rate. This makes eating here a delight! The beer selection is extensive, varied, and well researched. Having been around friends and family who love tasting and trying different beers, as well as indulging in their unique favorites, I would say that if this is your interest, this is a place you are going to enjoy frequenting. Since I am not much of a beer drinker myself, I can honestly say that I am glad that the«bar feeling» is not overwhelming here and that there are lots of other options. I don’t think this place was intended to be a place to hang out and drink lots of inexpensive domestic beer. Thank goodness. So glad for another option in the area. This is a great place for family and friends to get together and hang out, try different items, or watch a game. The service has always been friendly and efficient. Three of the four times, I’ve been here, the place was absolutely packed. The staff were clearly working as hard as they could and doing a great job. If you have ever waitressed, been a server, or worked in a restaurant yourself, this is pretty obvious. The one time it was less busy, the server was attentive but not hovering. I don’t know if it is more people’s nature to complain more than it is to compliment on some of these reviews, but honestly, all my experiences with staff have been very positive. I highly recommend this place! This is a great place for family and friends to get together and hang out, try different items off the menu, or watch a game. This is such a unique and fun offering in the area! So glad this place opened. Give it a try and go back! I sincerely hope this fun place becomes a local success!!!

First of all I need to say that this place was very impressively re-done. They spared no expense at changing this from a Midas oil change place to a pub. It is incredibly clean and a wide open space. It did look like there was some interesting second level seating but the balcony was closed. The back bar is pretty impressive with a ton of tap beer but definitely not for people interested in cheap domestic beer. The drink prices were pretty much in line from what I could tell. Definitely not cheap but also not overly expensive. The service overall was average. We walked in and no one greeted us so we decided to sit down and it took a good 5 to 10 minutes before anyone came over and asked us if we have been helped. Again, overall it doesn’t come across as being a very friendly staff. I think this resonates directly from the owner who has been described as being not so friendly. However what people need to understand is it may be a cultural thing as he is from a different country. I don’t think people should hold that against him. I do think his staff could be a little bit more outgoing and friendly and that is an expectation in the area. We went there for lunch and I ordered a pretzel which was enormous as you can see from a picture I posted. It tasted pretty good nothing phenomenal necessarily. The two sauces that came with it where two types of mustard and one of them packed a huge spicy punch similar to horseradish sauce. The sheer size of the pretzel was impressive the display was excellent as it came out hung on a metal apparatus. The taste was good and the price was appropriate. My wife ordered a gyro, and we both wondered why it was only available with chicken or beef and no lamb. The taste of her plate was pretty average and the french fries were a bit soggy. The menu and drink selection menu were put together well with a fair amount of choices. I was glad that it didn’t overwhelm with too many options yet had enough to pick from. I think this place is worth a try but would bet a 50 – 50 return for us. I also worry about it’s location and the parking is horrendous.
