My Grandpa’s Store

We were looking for a wedding cake bakery and we found this store on Unilocal.We went in for a cake tasting and Gina (the owner) was very helpful. Her prices were reasonable, and she listened to the ideas I had for our wedding cake. I sent her pictures of what I wanted and she was patient in working with me (I had a few changes in design and size). On the day of the wedding, she delivered it and set it up. The cake came out even better than I had imagined.

Gina came through for us when no other bakery would, last minute too… The cake was delicious and just as we wanted. will be ordering from her and only her from now on.

I met Gina (the owner and baker) last week and placed an order for this past weekend for 120 people. I ordered a Mickey Mouse cake and it was unbelievable! We received so many compliments. Her work was amazing and reasonable. Gina will be our go to person for any upcoming events! Great job!!!

Gina made a fabulous Barbie cake for my daughters 7^th birthday– so much cute detail and it tasted delicious!

I ordered a cake last week from My Grandpa’s Store and it came out wonderful. It looked perfect, tasted great, and the service was very friendly. I would definitely recommend this place!

I just ordered a cake for my baby’s baptism. She did a beautiful job decorating the cake and the cake tasted amazing! All the adults even ate cake and they kept saying how great it was. I highly recommend this place. Cute & delicious cakes.

My Grandpa’s store hardly looks like a store at all. It’s a very old school neighborhood mom and pop store located across the street from Ogden Ave School and near Park Jr. High school. As such a lot of their customers have always been school kids from the area out for some candy and snacks. They also have a small bit of Deli service. Their service overall though is the kind of warm personal kind that you’re hard pressed to find in these days of automated everything.
My wife and I went to them not for candy but for wedding cake. We once used them before to make a cake for her mom’s 50^th birthday and it turned out wonderful. So after trying other bakeries for our wedding we returned to My Grandpa’s Store. For one thing other bakeries were either overpriced, or they did great birthday cakes but not wedding cakes. Also we didn’t want a cake made with fandant or that tasted and looked like it was made of plaster. My bride got a picture for them from the web of the cake she wanted and bought a few decorations she wanted included and Gina went to work and made a great cake with buttermilk frosting instead of fondant and everyone at the wedding loved it. I would recommend them without hesitation and they really helped us out in a relatively short time frame.

I ordered a cake here for my baby shower. It was exactly what I ordered and tasted delicious. Will definitely come here again.

My wife bought a cake here for my daughter’s 6^th birthday. The cake was not only fantastic looking but also delicious! We’re sold and will be back to see Gina and order cakes for every occasion. Two thumbs up!!!

I called on Monday to place an order for my sons birthday. I also added a cupcake for my dad since they share the day.
My son loves horses and Gina was able to decorate a sheet cake with a pinto horse. My son was in heave.
The price was great value for the cake. We will continue to order from here

Gina makes absolutely delicious cakes, I am so happy we found her. My family considers themselves to be connoisseurs of cake and Gina wins with them every time. She works with any idea I have and made an adorable Rapunzel cake for my daughter’s fifth birthday. She is our go-​to person for any special occasion.

Had no idea what to expect going in there. Went in during the middle of the day and it felt like trespassing in someone’s house, which goes to show how homely the inside was. Got some big chocolate chip cookies at $ 1.50 each. They were very good and the price was low.

Gina (the owner) made the most exquisite cake for my Grandmother’s 90^th birthday. My Gram used to be a personal shopper for Bonwit Teller (for those of you who remember this FAB department store). Gina created a cake replica of the old Bonwit teller hat box. Gina actually hand painted Bonwit’s signature water color violets on the cake.
Most Importantly — the cake was delicious — not just a pretty face. It was a shame to cut it though.

Every time I am in the LaGrange area at lunchtime, I stop in to see Gina, Jim and the kids. This is a great local place run by great local people supplying great local food in a smalltown flavor that is mostly lost in the shuffle of fast food and mega-​marts. Thanks!
