Considering everyone else has pretty much covered the basics on this restaurant, I echo all of the comments people have made. If I could give zero stars, this would be the place! It is simply one of the worst places to eat in San Diego. I actually have no idea how they stay in business. Service is horrible, they almost go out of their way to make your life miserable. Price is overpriced and portions are meager. The only thing it has is a outdoor patio view, but given all of the other places you could eat in the area, not much of an advantage. So please please, do not eat here and warn everyone you know!

We wandered by looking for a place for breakfast. We stopped and read the menu on the street. I had been going overboard on cholesterol the past few days so really wanted some oatmeal and fresh fruit for breakfast. There wasn’t any on the menu. «Oh, no worries» said the beautiful hostess. «We have oatmeal and a lot of other things that aren’t on the menu.» «Do you have a high chair for our baby?» «Yes, of course.» Sounds great, right? So we lug the stroller up a tall flight of stairs(the elevator was out of order) and sat down. When the waiter asked for our drink orders I said that I’d like an earl grey tea. «What’s that?» he said. I explained it was a hot tea but really any hot caffeinated tea would be fine. Turns out, they don’t have hot teas. And neither did they have oatmeal(the waiter explained the hostess was«clueless») or a high chair. We got up and left.

Our server was nice enough, but, she seemed to be held captive by the kitchen. The view is great and the food is, well, not great. We sat on the patio and enjoyed the view and anguished over the food. I had a lamb sandwich that was the equivalent of a cold BigMac. The fries were not just cold, they tasted old. Seriously. My gals food wasn’t any better. She had a salad thing that she took a couple bites of and just stopped eating. The food took a very long time to get to us. I’m all for sitting and enjoying the view, but we waited more than 30 minutes for a sandwhich and a salad. The hostess was dressed in something that resembled scantilly-clad-club-wear and her thong was actually showing(not that there’s anything wrong with that) while she was standing up. When she bent down to grab a napkin from the ground I had the sudden urge to bust out the dollar bills and start makin’ it rain… This is a fantastic location with a nice patio and heaters. Hopefully they will get better with the food quality and the pace it comes out. Please please please make the bathrooms nicer. There weren’t any hand towels in the men’s room and there didn’t appear to be a place for them either… hmmm.

A woman there, not sure if she was a waitress, but took our«to-go» order, was very rude, the food was mediocre, the selection was minimal, and the place was dirty. I honestly couldn’t believe the woman that took our order, after discovering we had made reservations for a competing local restaurant, Jack’s, for later that night, for my birthday, had the gall to accuse them of being, in her words, «awful». Even insisting our plans were«a mistake». She then continued to put her foot in her mouth even further by insisting we were going to have an awful time unless we «drink a lot, then the food will taste alright.» I’m not quite sure what her angle was, if this was indeed some sort of sales tactic, the kind of which I am not familiar with, but in the end it failed horribly and made her, and the restaurant look terrible. Even if they figured out how to use a mop, clean their windows, and pass a health inspection, I still wouldn’t set foot in this place if my life depended on it. The worse part was that my girlfriend was so embarrassed by this woman’s behavior, that she just politely nodded to every stupid thing she said, while I fumed with rage, unable to say anything because I knew how hungry my girlfriend was. Seriously, it’s that bad… Oh, and BTW, the dinner at Jack’s was delicious! The service was exceptional, and they treated us right. Every bite was even more delicious knowing how wrong that **** at blu wave was. So, do yourself a favor and go to Jack’s.

Although I did give this place only three stars, it is a great place to eat. I give it three stars because the prices are so high. I’ve been here once, and the environment is nice, but only for college students. The place is filled with smoke, and seeing as how my friend was allergic to smoke, she was coughing and tearing the whole night, but then again, should have expected that from a hookah bar/restaurant. I purposefully put the hookah bar in front of the restaurant, because that’s what this place is. Me and my friends were the only ones actually eating dinner on a Friday night, while many others were crowded downstairs smoking hookah. Now to the food. I had the bantanjan? It’s an eggplant dish that is served on top of a fried pita bread, with a salad spread under it. It was actually delicious. But for 9 bucks? It was a small plate, and honestly, I’m a big guy. I need a lot of food to satisfy me. Also, this is strict mediterranean food, so there is more eggplant than meat on the menu, from what I saw(but I might be wrong). Most of the food ranges from 12 – 15 bucks, I’d say. The owner is nice, but seemed kind of distant. Our waiter was HOT, but seemed a little out of it. The lighting was done with Christmas lights, and Christmas lights ALWAYS set a good mood. Overall, good food, but a little too expensive, the portion is a LITTLE too small. The environment is nice, but too covered in smoke. Therefore, three stars.

Good ratings for the view and night atmosphere. It’s a nice«date spot» but avoid the bathrooms at all cost. It’s dirty, wet, and the ladies door doesn’t lock properly(I had someone walk in). They only provide toilet paper to dry hands!(Yes I even asked them to restock the handtowels — which was apparently the TP!). I don’t think your date would love to hold your hand after a visit to the bathroom… I was in the mood for Mediterranean, and well they had some… salad was great, I give them points for that… I’m not impressed however by their selections(I’ve traveled to the Middle East).

1.5 Stars The view is great, and that’s about it. I went here for brunch with a couple of my friends. Our brunch tradition is mimosas, of course, and we were horrified to find we were paying 9 bucks for thimble-sized mimosa(So I’m obviously exaggerating but it was TINY). I ordered«the duet» which consisted of a Costco muffin and some mediocre yogurt and granola. My friends got egg-ish dishes which were both just OK. Would not go here again unless someone begged me… and they’d have to be really hot.

Food was sub-par for Mediterranean… The Hummos was bland and had the texture of whipped/purée baby food. The Tikka Masala chicken was dry. That being said, the view was great and the waitress Kim really made it a pleasant experience.

Providing a wonderful view of the Pacific, Blu Wave is a good stop for Mediterrean food. Actually, the whole block hugging the coast is full of good looking and varied thnic restaurants. Blu Wave fit my mood. The food was good but my server was just ok. It seemed other wait staff were bit more engaged and thoughtful so don’t let that be your guide. This isn’t Fleur de Lys, your going for the view.
