Hmmmm the food quality depends on what you order! Decent prices compare to the nearby Bella vista café. Great place for people who work nearby to drop by and get some food. I love the club croissant that I ordered the other day. However, I tried the pesto&sun dry tomato pizza last week, and it was very dry and wasn’t that tasty. Anyways, overall alright place if you need to grab a quick lunch. Lots of outdoor seating near the café! Quite little café in the middle of the building.

I retract my last statement. They’ve definitely picked their game up for sure. Last few times breakfast has been perfect, and the service just as perfect! I’m glad because it’s so close to my house it’s super convenient!

The following pretty much says it all: This place has been deemed«The Disappointment Deli» by me and my fellow co-workers. Sometimes it ain’t too bad, but other times it’s just disappointing all around. Stale bread, microwaved chili, watery chili, too-salty chicken salad. But sometimes all these items taste just fine. I think the inconsistency is what we don’t like the most. One day, I hope we can call it «The Delightful Deli» instead of «The Disappointment Deli.» We might have a long way to go before getting there, but there IS hope!

Came here and ordered the Caesar chicken salad and what I got was no where near what it was suppose to be. I got a salad with spinach and mixed green with 4 tiny pieces of chicken. Chicken is an added $ 2.75! You would think with that added amount it is more than that. Not worth the total $ 8 salad.

3.5 stars I don’t love the place, but I don’t hate it, either. I do love that they allow you to call ahead for orders, which is essential for large orders, or for those steamy hot days, when you don’t want to stand in the sun, waiting for your turn at the counter. Despite the fact that I’ve been here maybe half a dozen times since I started work nearby, this is the first time that I’ve actually gotten food for myself. I tend to call maybe 10 – 20 minutes before I actually need the food, just in case they’re backed up and need the extra time, but they’ve been very good about getting orders turned around quickly. They get a star for that, in my opinion. The thing that drives me crazy is that, when the guy answers the phone, he spits out the greeting so fast it’s like there aren’t any spaces between the words. It irks me to feel rushed, and I always find myself responding by speaking… much…more…slow…ly…than…I…normally…would… I’m an ass, what can I say? At any rate, the people that I work with choose this place when they need a quick meal, so I figured I’d give it a shot, myself. I placed a large order(seven people), plus one half Chicken Basil Sandwich on Wheat and a cup of their black bean chili for myself. The food was set out and ready to go by the time I walked over there, and they allowed me to split the payment up so that I didn’t have to do the math on my own, when filling out a reimbursement form. Every order is bagged separately, and clearly labeled, which I can appreciate. It makes it easier for me to set things out for my group when I get back to the office, so I’m not sticking my nose into somebody’s meal. Anyway, on to the food. The black bean chili — which people in my office adore — was just okay. They add in a dollop of sour cream, which I like(because dairy makes everything better), but the chili itself was way too… soupy…for my liking. I think if they mashed up the beans a bit, instead of leaving them whole, it’d make for a much nicer texture on the tongue. Wow, that sounded dorky. Aside from that, the flavor was a bit mild. Most of the flavor I noticed came from the cilantro that was sprinkled over the top. The half sandwich was better, though it didn’t really wow me. It was filling — they don’t skimp on the chicken — but it was kind of ordinary. I didn’t taste the basil, and, I’m sorry, but if it’s one of the first things in the name, I expect it to be prominent. The bread was fluffy, though, so that made up for some of it. It’s a good option because it’s close by, cheap, and(typically) fast. Maybe I need to try a few more options there before giving up on it.

While I worked in the Torrey Pines South Building, I ate here frequently as it was the only source of sustenance in the immediate area. The food was pretty expensive and after a while, the taste of the foods got duller and duller as did the days working here. The guy at the counter is moody; you can tell when he’s not having a good day by the way he’ s treating you. I wasn’t sure if it was his behavior or the coffee that left a bitter taste in my mouth. Overall: overpriced, at times un-friendly, and overwhelmingly mediocre.

Wait a minute, I am so confused by the reviews on here. To my knowledge, this is a café at the Torrey Pines Center South building by UCSD. I eat here when I’m around for business, but I’ve never heard of this place being open on weekends or at night(maybe I’m missing it?) The building locks its doors at night, so I’m not sure why people are saying they eat dinner or weekend brunch here. This is a deli where you order your food at the counter and eat outside. They give you everything in a paper bag, and I’ve never seen any waiter/waitress service. The guys working there are pretty nice. They’re friendly and like to joke around with the regulars. Although I like them, I have to give this place 2 stars for the food and price. It’s usually overpriced, and the quality of food is inconsistent. A sandwich will be completely fine one day, then they might burn it the next day. The only things I ever buy here are the bagels and the BLTA. The BLTA is pretty amazing.

Can’t even rate their food because I was treated so rudely on the phone that I ended up not ordering from them. I work in the area and was going to call in a lunch order for pick up. When the person(female) answered the phone I said«Hi, I would like to place an order for…» before I could even finish I was rudely interrupted and told that there would be no more deliveries for the day because the delivery driver was already gone. Well thanks for the info but I wasn’t looking for my food to delivered! I was so taken back that I just said nevermind and hung up. Pretty sad that a business would shoot themselves in the foot like that.

A few years ago, this place was really good when it was owned by an Italian guy. Sadly, he seemed to disappear some time ago, and I think the place changed hands.(By the way, I am referring to the Come On In on Torrey Pines, La Jolla — some reviewers mention that it’s in their office building, but the Torrey Pines Come On In is in little strip mall type location, shared with three other restaurants — all single story and definitely not an office building). Anyway, to pick up where I left off — it used to be good. My wife and I often stopped by for breakfast pancakes or their Mediterranean Special on Sundays. Sometimes we opted for a sandwich to go, which we would be on a crusty French roll, with good quality filling. Somehow, we got out of the habit of stopping by there a couple of years ago, but today we stopped for a sandwich(instead of going to the deli on Gerard, because parking there seemed impossible). Big mistake — we should have stuck it out to find a parking space on Gerard. The Come On In sandwich was supposed to be on a French roll, but instead of the crusty roll of yore, it was a supermarket variety long-shelf-life type of item, which had neither taste nor texture. Cheese was a supermarket style slice of American cheese. At least the ham was decent, but it was sacrificed by the blahness of everything else. Last time for us… it’s the deli on Gerard Street in future.

I order from these folks sometimes for work functions. They are always fast, friendly and courteous on the phone and in person(the delivery drivers are always nice). Highly recommend them for catering business breakfast or lunch events. The black bean chili is fabulous!

I only eat here out of convenience, the food is ok, however, the service is absolutely horrible. The 2 guys that work behind the counter look like they hate their lives and their energy is infectious. I try and stay away when I can, this is a last resort place for me.

I don’t remember where I heard about this place, but I love this area, so I figured I’d check it out for lunch. I chose to sit inside only because I was afraid the flies would bother me outside… well, that didn’t really matter because they leave the door wide open so they came inside and flew around my food the entire time anyway! I ordered the chicken curry sandwich with a side of pasta salad. The pasta salad was decent, and the chicken curry was good, but it was on the most boring, plain white bread(like wonder bread?) so it kinda made it seem like a cafeteria quality sandwich? Once the waitress took our order and brought us our food, she never once checked on us. The only bright spot to today was I discovered a parking lot with three other restaurants in it, so I will be back to check them out… but I won’t bother to come back here.

I expect: blah cafeteria food. I get: pretty good food at decent prices. Service is quick, and they are always nice. I’ve been very happy with my BLTA, tortilla soup, tomato bisque and margherita pizza whenever i order them. Chicken tortilla soup was more of a 3/5, but certainly not terrible.

I had a kgb deal for this place & specially ordered a loaf bread. When I got home they had not put in 1 of the ingredients I had asked for & it lacked any kind of flavor. What they did put in obviously they didn’t put enough of, as it was so bland. I had driven down the day before to pick up a regular loaf bread & was told this is only made to order– 24 hrs ahead. So when I came back the next day I was greeted with oh your deal doesnt work on bakery goods– of which it states nothing of the sort. I explained the guy had seen it the day before & never mentioned that. The guy was very short & pushy throughout our interaction. Not a place I will be returning to or recommending.

I would like to give them 0 stars if that were possible. My reasoning behind this is as follows… the service is slow and rude, the prices are too high, the order and wait time too long and the food is bland and greasy. Since this place is in my office building, the only reason I think they stay in business, I am sometimes subjected to eating here. However, after my most recent experience I will make every effort possible to not return. I knew the quality of the food wasn’t that great however one of the items I actually do somewhat enjoy was offered as a special on this particular day so I decided to finally use the gift card I received last year. The younger man that was ringing me up wasn’t sure how to process it so he asked the older man who has been there forever and is also a slow and miserable human being. He didn’t understand what was going on so that took a little extra time no harm since I called my order in to avoid waiting in line to place my order. However he called out a number, something I wasn’t ever given and then got aggravated with me when I didn’t know it was mine. He pretty much stared me down and shoved my food at me. To which I responded thank you. As in thank you that I will never spend another dollar in here. Now don’t get me wrong I know people can have a bad day and things happen so I try to overlook things like that but that just happened to be the icing on the cake. I have had experiences there trying to purchase with a credit card that was refused because my order was to small, there is no sign stating that there is a credit card minimum. I have been told I needed to get change because he wouldn’t break a $ 20 for an order of $ 2 and change, this was first thing in the morning shouldn’t your registered be stocked with small bills to make change for people buying coffee etc? I was eating with a friend once who ordered a salad there and found a bug in it. Every sandwich has mayo in it and not just spread on the bread, a condiment that I can’t stand. The pasta specials are oily and have no flavor. Not to mention that if you do want one of their daily specials you may want to get there early since they tend to sell out of items.

Hmmm, I’m a little confused about why this place has such low ratings. I’d give the food 3 stars. not amazing, but certainly not bad! This review is only about breakfast, but the prices aren’t overly expensive… I got 2 eggs with tomatoes and cheese, toast, and chicken sausage for 8 $ish. Not too bad. The eggs and tomato were tasty, not greasy at all. The rye bread was really yummy. The sausage was only ok. Not worth 2.50 $ or whatever I paid to add it. Just out of the adellies box, basically. The service was pretty quick. The guy came out with our stuff pretty fast, and when he accidentally brought us an extra side of eggs and we told him, he wasn’t defensive at all, and told us he’d take it off our bill immediately(even if we wanted to eat it!) I’m not running to come back, but I’m certainly not avoiding this place either. Its solidly ok for a quick breakfast, and I’ll probably try it again for cornmeal pancakes, just in case they wow me :)

First off, the service is fantastic. The two men working there, and the woman cashier, are always courteous and good to customers. However, the time that it takes to order and receive your food is generally really bad after noon. The food is decent, but rather overpriced for what you get. The ingredients are stock for sandwiches and salads, and the pizza is normal. The breakfast burrito is excellent though, and the turkey sandwiches are a favorite of mine. WARNING: Do not order espresso drinks. They are flavorless and usually have way too much steamed milk for lattes and cappuccinos. The coffee is generally well-made and fresh, on the other hand.

Expensive. Not tasty. Sandwiches usually have WAY too much mayo, and their pastas are very oily. The usual guy working the register is the slowest person alive. He also has been known to refuse credit cards when the charges are less than $ 5. Not cool.
