FYI it is called Dan’s. We stumbled upon this place while on vacation and were thrilled with our find. We desperately needed pedicures but didn’t want to lose out on precious beach time. Well we walked in and there were the cozy pedi chairs overlooking an amazing view of the ocean. We were in heaven. They even opened up the French doors for us to feel the nice ocean breeze. Yeah, my pedi and gel manicure were a bit pricey at $ 75, but it was a quality job, the ladies were very nice, the space was clean, and oh did I mention that view. Only reason I didn’t give a 5 star review is because my mani/pedi didn’t last as long as I’m used to from my usual place at home.

Yes, they did an amazing job on our nails. However, the experience was soon ruined when we went up to pay. Double what we were told($ 88 for a manicure/pedicure!!!). Apparently, all those little extras we were getting were costing us(seaweed foot scrub, mask, paraffin). Next time tell us these options are extra. Shady business practices.

This salon is under new ownership and is now Dan’s Nail Salon and I got a fabulous manicure… but my 5 stars is for more than just a great mani. I asked my hotel to see if they could make an appointment for me as I was on my way to La Jolla, but I wouldn’t arrive until 7pm. The concierge called around La Jolla’s downtown and this was the only salon that agreed to stay open late(they close at 6:30) so I could get my mani. I arrive a little before 7pm and they were happy to see me, diddn’t rush me or make me feel awkward.

I have searching for a good place to get my eyebrows waxed and this place is it. I called to make an app and then told me to come on in, but I was at work. So I went two hours later and there was 2 ppl getting their nails done. Oh, btw, they changed their name to Dans nails and spa, so if your looking for glow and cant find it, thats why. The place is really nice, clean and the people are really nice. The lady was talking to me the whole time, it was kinda nice. The best part it that she took her time doing my eyebrows, she didnt cake on the wax either so it didnt hurt. I will be going bak to get my nails done someday. If your skipping down la jolla, you should totally stop in.

Only been here once, but its by far the best Nail salon I’ve found in La Jolla. It looks out over the water in LaJo(gorgeous!) and its small and intimate. This is in comparison to most strip mall salons who come replete with 20 different manicurists who all harass you to death«you want a flower? you want special paraffin wax? you want very special massage?» do you want me to ever come back? ugh. Glow also has this big comfy chairs. Its definitely more expensive than other places, but only slightly(ever manicure in SD is overpriced!). 3/12…i just drove by it and its gone! no idea if the new nail place is any good…

Won’t be going back to this place again. I got a manicure here which was far from a relaxing experience. My manicurist was not very careful and drew blood from not one but two of my cuticles — OW! I’ve never been frightened of a cuticle nipper as they’ve been used effectively and painlessly by other manicurists I’ve been to. And the manicurist seemed to not notice initially until she went over my nails with the cuticle oil, then she looked quizically at my injuries, wondering where they had come from. She barely mumbled an acknowledgement of what she had done and when it came time to pay didn’t take anything off the bill. My fingertips were infected and sore for the next week after my visit here. The view from this place is gorgeous but that’s about the only remarkable thing about it. There are many other nail salons to choose from in La Jolla.
