Really liked it a lot. Had a coupon, wasn’t sure how good it was going to be and to my surprise it was great. I had scallops that were good perfectly on a goat cheese grit that were amazing. Wife had NY strip and that was cooked perfectly. Little pricey but I’d come back.

Food was good, generous portions, tasty. We had the Alaskan macadamia crusted halibut, very good and cooked perfect. Casual ambience, laid back and relaxing. Our waitress must have been new, although very nice, wasn’t attentive. She meandered around the restaurant, didn’t give water refills, or ask if we wanted another glass of wine. We ordered dessert only to find out later it was the wrong dessert.

My sister, brother-in-law and I had dinner at Humphrey’s Grill in La Jolla this evening and I have to say that we had an amazing time! Our server, Brittany, made it all happen for us! I can’t even remember a time when I had any better service ever. Both my sister and my brother-in-law agreed! Brittany is a «gem»! She gave us excellent recommendation on the menu, which my sister and I went for and were glad we did! Both our orders were DELISH and YUMMY! Brittany was very attentive and we chatted a little with her. By the time we left the restaurant, we were just so impressed with her that we couldn’t leave the place without giving her a hug for a most unforgettable dining experience. We actually wanted to package her and take her home with us, as she reminds me of my nieces. The next time we visit this place, we will be asking for her! Can’t thank you enough Brittany for a wonderful time!

Let’s split food and service. Service is 4 stars, and the employees legitimately care and are helpful to diners. The food they bring, unfortunately, deserves 2 stars tops. It’s somewhat bland, lacks soul, feels like a weekend scramble(what you get when you heat up leftovers from the week). It doesn’t taste terrible, but I am yet to find something I would order again. Verdict — average 3 stars.

Eggs benedict was just ok. Hash brown potatoes were nice. Pancakes were lacking as if made from store bought premix. Orange juice is not freshly squeezed. Cranberry juice is gross. Bacon was over cooked. Service was great though. Overpriced if you want extras or a side. Coffee was fine. No brown /raw sugar.

Chose Humphrey’s for an early dinner tonight because we were going to the La Jolla Playhouse later and we had a buy one get one free coupon. We shared a Caesar salad which was fresh and delicious and then we each had an entrée. My scallop dish was good though a bit salty. My husband had the stuffed chicken with sweet potato risotto. He felt the chicken was over cooked and somewhat bland. Gin and tonics and service from our waitress rated a 4star. Music piped into restaurant 1star.

Mahi Mahi Macadamia Nuts is so good if they don’t have the Halibut. Good service and Good Food.

Gluten free options were mediocre. Service was very good I just didn’t like the flavor combinations of a lot of the dishes. I settled on the crab cakes which are naturally GF and the Summer Salad with beets and goat cheese.

I had dinner there last night. The food and service were good. But when I exited the parking lot and put in my validated ticket, the machine said I needed to pay them $ 5. I used a credit card and exited, but it was irritating to be charged when parking was supposed to be free for restaurant guests. So I called them this morning and asked to be reimbursed. After talking with two different people, I was told only the General Manager(who is away for a few days) could authorize the five dollars. This really seems petty and not in the spirit of good customer satisfaction. That’s why they get only three stars.

Had a great early dinner here tonight with the family. Everyone enjoyed their dish, from the Lamb Osso Bucco special to the skirt steak with chimichurri sauce and the pork cheek special. The purée of parsnips and celery root that came with the lamb was probably one of the most unique and very well executed of the sides. Salads and soups were finished to the last drop even with the nice variety of breads to start the service and desserts were a perfect petite serving to top everything off with, although my son and I selected the full sized ice cream pie which was as good a rendition as I’ve ever had with a perfect artful presentation. The atmosphere was quiet and chill, very relaxed and intimate. Not very crowded for a Saturday either so we will definitely come back for a last minute date night option.

we ordered from here and the food came 30 minutes late and cold. the eggs benedict were cold and broken. everything was soggy. when i called to complain, they said a new order would be delivered in 20 minutes. 2 hours later no food has arrived– i called again and the Director of Food and Beverage informed me that the food would not be coming. THEDIRECTOROFFOODANDBEVERAGE, yelled at me multiple times over the phone until i asked him to calm down so i could get his name and information. due to all of this i will not be staying at sheraton or ever going to Humphreys.

My dinner plans fell through and in my room key package was a 50% off coupon so I thought I would give it a try. I was there when they opened at 5:30 and was seated after a few minutes. The ambience is calming and dimly lit. The warm bread and butter was served within a few minutes and then the waitress took my drink order, wine. When she said I’ll go get it I thought great you have to go to the bar I’ll see you in 10 minutes. Within two minutes she was back with the wine in a carafe. The waitress was helpful with my questions in the menu. I ordered the wedge salad to start and it was quite good. Served very quickly and just the right size. Although it wasn’t cheap. More warm bread and it was fresh. For the entrée I chose the macadamia crusted mahi mahi. With pan fried jasmine rice topped with rum raisins. The macadamia nut crust was the thickest I’ve ever had and I liked it that way. Fish was moist and the combination worked. Dare I ask for the dessert menu? They beat me to it with a tray of example desserts. Small enough to make you figure out a way to fit them in your stomach Chocolate cake was my choice and it didn’t disappoint. Wasn’t great, a little dry, but respectable. Enjoy!

Thank you for NOT having a dress code AND for the great service and 3 perfectly cooked juicy and flavorful steaks! Ditch the snooty spots and try this place, it’s tucked back a bit but worth finding.

We have been long time customers and big fans of this restaurant. Over the years the food and level of customer service has been outstanding and never lets us down. Charlie is the premier server and a lot of this establishment’s success can be attributed to his superb level of service and his wonderful engagement with his customers. The food is always top notch and consistently good. A large part of this achievement is due to the same head chef for over 15 years. Highly recommended and you will be delighted with the service and satisfied with the quality of the food. Tip: Ask for Charlie as your server.

Fantastic! I loved everything from the beautiful décor to the wonderful lamb shank I was served. My server Charlie was beyond perfect and service was A #1. I could eat here once a week if I could. I highly recommend giving them a try.

Humphrys Grill Review We recently had breakfast at Humphrys, based on the reviews that I read and I have to say I was quite disappointed in the overall experience. My overall rating would be 1.5 stars, but I’m giving them 2 because of the atmosphere and the cleanliness of the restrooms. First, when we sat down both the chairs and the table still had crumbs on them from the previous diners — I’m not taking any stars off for this, but it certainly didn’t set expectations highly for what was to come. Our initial server was nice and attentive, but after delivering our meal and drinks we were basically left alone. He only returned to bring us our check. We had to flag down other servers to get napkins and a refill on water, which also took a while. We ordered two pretty standard breakfast plates; Eggs Benedict and their All American. The Eggs Benedict was very poor taste. The eggs and ham were very over-cooked, and the muffin was very dry. The potatoes were bland and cold(on both plates). With the All American, the eggs(which were ordered slightly scrambled) were again, over-cooked to the point where they were basically uneatable. The saving grace was the bacon — while also over-cooked, we love super well-done crunchy bacon. Even the soda was very syrupy with almost no carbonation. The cost for a restaurant in a hotel is usually quite high, but Humphrys was reasonably priced(around 15 – 20 per person with drinks). I personally would not recommend dining here unless you were staying at the hotel and didn’t want to have to drive, because for your money I think you can(and should) get not only better food but better service as well.

Overview: Humphrey’s is one of the two restaurants in the La Jolla Sheraton. It appears to be the more sit-down of the two. You’ll get a 50% off coupon for this place for every night you stay here(or maybe everybody just gets two). Food: I ordered the swordfish(see below) served with some creamy grains and asparagus. Well cooked and not overdone. Portions weren’t too filling. Complimentary bread wasn’t that flavorful. Service: I wasn’t well dressed and definitely felt… ignored. Establishment: Well decorated, very empty(I was here on a Friday night). Very upscale. Pricing is on the higher side but very much worth it with the 50% coupons. Conclusions: If I had paid full price, I would have felt very cheated. I’m not sure how to rate this place because you won’t always have a coupon so I’ve decided to rate it from the perspective of a person paying the full menu prices.

This rating is only for the one Breakfast I had this morning. It’s a very nice place with great service. Clean, Big and Roomie. I’m staying at the hotel and wanted a quick breakfast. Had an Omelet with cheese, sausage, and mushrooms. The omelet was a bit over cooked for my liking. A bit Dry. The Hash-browns needed to be a bit crisper as they were soggy. Perhaps dinner would be a better choice.
