Just delicious. Indiana jones roll and popcorn albacore were so yummy. It was fantastic to come during happy hour to get cheap sake and appetizers. Nice, attentive staff, great location — we went for a stroll by the beach afterwards. The rolls are a little pricey, but hey, it’s La Jolla and the happy hour helps a lot.

Pricey for mediocre Japanese food. Came here for some simple rolls, tempura udon and sashimi. The udon was a disappointment. Friendly staff at this touristy area.

The sushi was terrific, I can’t say anything bad about the food or the service I ordered a California Roll and Casanova Rolls, both very good and tasted fresh and flavorful. The waitress did an excellent job, but then i was the only customer in the Sushi Bat for a Sunday afternoon, kinda strange. This could of easily been a 5 star review, but the Mens restroom was pretty dirty no more like filthy. I had to wait about 10 minutes to use it, since i was the only person in the restaurant besides the Sushi Chef, Waitress and i would guess the dishwasher or kitchen help. I can easily blame the dishwasher or kitchen guy. Thanks buddy, clean up after yourself, this isn’t a dumpy sushi bar in East LA. To the owner of this place, your business is in the heart of La Jolla the chairs in the sushi bar shouldn’t be worn out and looking beat up. This is the little things customers look at and put a face on your business. I did. Good Sushi, Excellent Service, Nice View. But the place needs to some small easily to do changes.

Very very good sushi. Fresh, cold and nice small, but cozy sushi stop in La Jolla with an awesome little happy hour of great deals. I highly recommend this place to visit if you like sushi that is fresh and made by real professionals. Service was prompt and courteous as well.

Too expensive for what you get. This place is actually not very good. I guess there’s not very good sushi in Lajolla since this place is 4 stars? For example fake crab California rolls, $ 22 amaebi, $ 23 chirashi with just the typical fish, etc. I guess I’m too spoiled by Costa Mesa/Newport Beach sushi joints. This is the type of place that Japanese people would not eat at. Not very good quality sushi for sure. The type of sushi I ate today was equivalent to sushi mall food in Orange County.

Oh how I love this place! It isn’t cheap but it’s not ridiculous. The sushi is SOGOOD. They have some fabulous rolls, great selection, and it’s clearly top quality. I can’t help but get a little cold sake. Excellent sake selection. The unagi. Oy it’s so good! Get their tuna, yellowtail, shrimp, all your favorites. You’ll be so impressed. Their specialty rolls are pricier but so freaking good. I always have to get at least one. :) If it’s a weekend night, I’d make a reso FYI

Highly recommend this place. One of the freshest sushi I ever had and I eat sushi about twice a week. :) Small interior, modern and classy. They do have seating available at the sushi bar. Located in beautiful la jolla. Not much of a view from the restaurant however. I highly recommend having sashimi since their fish is so fresh. They do offer a happy hour menu for their more basic rolls. It can get a little pricey. We ended up getting alot sashimi and drinks; the bill was $ 300 for three people. The owner was nice to walk around each table and speak to the guests. Since we spent some $$, the owner was nice to give us a dessert on the house. Much appreciated. Thank you!

Came here with my dad and his girlfriend, and we were pleasantly surprised! It’s a quaint little place right off of prospect. The employees were all so friendly, and attentive. The menu was a little limited for rolls, and they were a little pricey for the amount of sushi given per serving. My favorite roll was the sun kissed roll. They have great happy hour deals, I’ll definitely have to come back to try that out.

Favorite sushi spot in La Jolla. Happy hour here is the bees knees: $ 1 hot sake, rolls for $ 5, etc. Chefs are hilarious and friendly, would recommend sitting at the bar. My go-to for sushi when I’m in town!

Consistently so good! Awesome sushi chefs and happy hour. Fish is always fresh and they have an awesome special sauce they put on some of their rolls it’s like the Asian pesto they say! Yummy

I really really like this place. Small restaurant with maybe 8 – 10 tables but we have always been able to snag a seat at the sushi bar. Their fish is super fresh and relatively well priced(especially for sushi in downtown La Jolla). Their speciality rolls are super creative and delicious. I recommend the Summer Beach Body roll or the El Cartel. It’s hard to go wrong here.

I loved the vibe of this place and the location is to die for! Who wouldn’t want to eat at a sushi bar in the heart of La Jolla? The fish is top quality, very fresh. There were so many good options of rolls to choose from. I ended up ordering the el cartel roll(spicy tuna topped with albacore). Loved it! I’m coming back here and trying everything on the menu!

Sorry, but the sushi is not really good in this place. Unless you really like garlic, the edemame garlic just doesn’t work. Some things just don’t go together. The sushi was not particularly good either. The fish wasn’t the best looking nor tasting. All around disappointing. For the price, you’d expect more.

Oh El Nino, so it begins. On a fated night before I hosted what was supposed to be an mostly outdoor party it started to dump down rain.(spoiler alert, I made it work cause I’m a #pro) I met my cohorts in this sushi bar in La Jolla to talk game plan and have a peaceful cup of tea to prep for the wild day the next — It was a great experience. As we looked outside the window at gale gusts, weird cold temperatures(yes, in San Diego) and water coming down from the sky(What?) we were cozy inside with fresh delicious food and warm cups. We had a very garlicky edamame(Which I love, but not for everyone) The Prospect Roll: With tuna two ways, truffle oil and a nice spicy kick. We tried the Sea Kiss — which was my favorite of the night. It had this citrus, refreshing base flavor with basil, cucumber and cilantro plus an asian pesto sauce. Sounds interesting, tastes amazing! The Jewel Roll was also good, but super hard to eat as it was full wrapped in cucumber like a blossom(no rice) and nearly impossible to eat with chopsticks. we managed by scooted them onto plates and basically deconstructing. A cozy night! A solid choice. Note: I made a reservation on a Monday night. I got there and no one was there, but, within 20 minutes the place was full. I suggest calling ahead and just in case making sure you’re name is on a table.

Over priced sushi! I imagine the price is driven by location and over head, but they need to step it up the interior and server staff for what they’re charging. The quality of food is excellent, but everything else falls short. Décor inside looks like a modest sushi bar. The servers were young and extremely flaky, but the sushi was delicious. I went here for a business dinner and let my sales guy do the ordering to make it easier and I love all seafood and not worried. We get mostly sushi with a spicy salmon hand roll and some edamame. Everything here is very fresh, tasted incredible and prepared carefully. I love mackerel and theirs was the most amazing mackerel I’ve ever tasted. The cramped basic interior and the young girls acting like spoiled children killed the mood. If you’re looking for quality sushi and don’t care about the other factors, you’ll enjoy Shiku. They need to drop their price point if they want to continue to run the way they do, or invest in some easy changes and they’ll be pretty impressive.

Came here late but caught the tail end of Happy Hour, and all in all, awesome sushi with great views of the ocean within walking distance! I really enjoyed the selection of sushi, especially the interesting spicy combos. My colleague and I ordered edamame as an appetizer which was cooked just right and had a nice seasoning to it. Yum!

OVERPRICEDSUSHI ! Reminds me a lot of Las Vegas pricing for all their specialty rolls. For about four rolls, and two appetizers shared between four people and about $ 100 later, everyone was NOT full. Content but not enough for the price we paid. BEWARE! Their sushi menu online on the website is NOT accurate. Their menu is updated and is completely different and sushi rolls range from $ 14-$ 19 each. Although I will admit that some of their sushi rolls are good, and some are just ok. I do taste freshness is some of their rolls, but still overpriced. FOOD: Crispy Albacore Popcorn $ 8 This dish was ok. The albacore was dry but the sweet sauce that it was marinated in made up for the dish. I’m So Baked Roll This is their most popular dish and now I can see why. This was my favorite dish out of everything and unfortunately it only came in 6 pieces. Each sushi roll is topped with crab and lobster with baked creamy sauce and sits on a slice of orange peel. Yes you can eat the orange peel with the sushi roll and it was amazing. Just melts in your mouth and bursting with flavor. Casanova Roll Crab salad with slices of fish on top. Pretty decent sushi roll. Yoga Roll Spicy scallop sushi roll with jalapenos. This roll was pretty decent as well and has a pretty spicy kick afterwards. Pimpin’ Shrimpin Roll Their advertised jumbo shrimp wasn’t so jumbo. Looked like every average shrimp to me. Another pretty decent roll. Overall, tiny restaurant in La Jolla with La Jolla’s overpriced food expectancy. I had high expectations because it had a 4-star rating on Unilocal with a good amount of reviews, plus it was featured on Thrillest. Quite disappointed in the price we paid. Not coming back.
