Sun Run recently bought out REC solar, the company I was previously receiving my maintenance from on the solar panels I currently have installed on my house. I called on 2÷23÷16 to set up a service call. My solar panels are currently not providing energy, and there is an error code showing something is wrong. I called them and they told me somebody would call me back to set up an appointment for a service call within 24 – 48 hours. I heard nothing for 2 days. On the 3rd day, I called again. This time, they told me that because I was a previous REC solar customer, they would have to set up a new account. I inquired how this was done, and they said it involved typing some numbers into a computer screen. I replied, «great, can we do that now?» The response: No, it typically takes 4 days. A week after my first call(we are now on 3⁄1), I called again to inquire as to why I still hadn’t received a call from their service department to set up an appointment. They responded that it would take a few more days to have somebody call me. I called back again on 3÷5÷16. It has now been 12 days since my initial call asking for somebody to check out the error code on my service box of my solar panels. They said that somebody would call me no later than 3÷8÷16 to set up a service call. At this point, I am dismayed with their lack of integrity. They didn’t do what they said they would do. They took way too long, and it has now been almost 2 weeks and I still am not even sure when they are coming over, or how long the fix will take. I will update this when that happens. If you have other options, please take them. Do not count on Sun Run to provide service with any sense of urgency. Do not count on Sun Run to provide excellent customer service on the phone. And absolutely do not count on Sun Run to stick to their word.

I do believe the complaints here are invalid. I found the sales people at sunrun to be extremely professional and knowledgeable. The comments about underproduction are bogus, the system has guarantees. The comments about true-up are bogus. At the end of the year a settling will happen, either you owe the power company, or they owe you. The topic is complex, and if people don’t understand these topics, they should wait until they do. And if they proceed anyway, then they should take responsibility for their actions. I will re-evaluate my review in a year or so, when I get a better feel. But so far, good company, professional, friendly, kind and courteous.

Sunrun just had to cut me a check because their system performs so poorly. Thank god for fine print. Sometimes it saves the consumer. System broke and after repair it doesn’t work as well as it did prior. Only 2 years old. Definitely would not recommend.

Sunrun advertises a free quote on their website in 10 minutes. They gather your demographics before they speak to you and then call you to begin their sales strategy. They called and wasted my time by asking me the same questions I answered on the online form. I was inquiring with Sunrun for the price of solar panels for the home I am currently leasing and in the process of purchasing. When I told them that I did not own the home they insisted they could only give an estimate to the owners and suggested that we do a conference call with them. I stated that they would only be giving me a quote and no commitments were implied. SunRun refused. I explained my situation of purchasing the home and wanting to add the solar in the purchase. SunRun still refused and just seemed so adamant about talking to the current owners. Their logic for refusing to give me an estimate seem to make no sense other than a strategy of Hard selling(try to close the deal now). I do not recommend swimming with sharks unless you like being bit.
