I’m going to start off this review by admitting that if not for the fact that I work in the same complex, I’d probably never step foot into this café. Alas, I’m a lazy bum who never packs a lunch because just getting myself out of bed and to work is hard enough as is. And that’s why I find myself buying lunch almost every day. The Red Apple has decent prices but truthfully, you’ll find a better selection and bigger portions just across the street. The menu is somewhat limited and the café itself isn’t exactly the happiest place to be. But, there’s a couple of things that keep me coming back besides the convenience. 1) The potato salad/mashed potato thing that they serve with sandwiches for lunch is delicious. I don’t know. It’s such a simple thing but I totally dig it. 2) They pile on insane amounts of cream cheese on everything that involves cream cheese. I love me some cream cheese but I found myself scrubbing off some cream cheese off of the bagel the last time I got it. It’s like they’re trying to get rid of all the cream cheese that they can. 3) I am determined to see the guy who runs the front counter smile just once. I just know that he’s secretly the happiest, nicest teddy bear ever.

The Genius who helped me was very patient, thorough, helpful, and had a great sense of humor. Great experience that successfully eliminated the glitches on my phone and ipad. Thanks!

It’s a small café located in a professional building in La Holla, I only come here when my fiancée come in to work, we grab a quick breakfast after dropping her off. The sandwiches are very good, good and filling. Only thing is that the prices seem a bit unfair for a sandwich so simple, but hey businesses have to make money, and they do a good job making them tasty.

I would like to preface my review by saying if I didn’t work in this complex I would never eat here. The prices are high even for La Jolla and the menu options are very limited. So why the 3 stars you might ask? Convenience! Thank goodness that one guy decided to open this little café because in a pinch you can dish out some cash for some healthier options. They have the standard soups and sandwiches but they also have fruits, baked goods and energy bars– all a better option that my finger nails. I’m usually pretty prepared for lunch and have only bought from here a few times but it’s a lifesaver!

If there’s one commonality among all the delis and cafes within a working complex of any sorts, it’s that they’re always overpriced! The Red Apple Café is just another prime example of this fact, as the food is alright, but costs a hand for half a sandwich with a small scoop of potato salad, and a can of soda. The person I was meeting with was a bit late, so I opted to sit here, grab a small bite to eat, and get some work done. Well, I’d rather just bring food from home next time if I knew this place was that overpriced for such mundane food.

Ive been working in the building for the past three years and I have to say I really appreciate the quality of this café/deli. I go almost every other day. Its definitely a huge step above other deli’s Ive ate at. The quality and variety of hot sandwiches is definitely above expectation(I love the Chicken club and quesadillas). The soups are also amazing tasting and probably freshly made as there are new soups every day. The owner also puts out daily lunch specials like burritos and rice dishes and not just deli sandwiches which is really nice. The place also apparently got perfect 100% on cleansiness from the health department(the owner actually framed the certificate). But the place definitely needs more indoor seating as it often gets too crowded during lunch hours.

This place is sorta depressing. There’s one guy that runs the front counter and one woman that works in the back making stuff. When I order a sandwich he goes to the back room and yells out to her(she’s standing right there) «HALFTURKEY. NOMAYONOCHEESE. MUSTARD». they’re foreign but i dont know from where. maybe middle east? i dont know, so dont jump on my nuts for being culturally insensitive. i just know he has an accent that isnt from here so maybe thats how they run a deli wherever he’s from. its a weird place, is what im trying to say. they sell greeting cards and huge seeded grapes but no diet mountain dew. and everything is wrapped in Saran wrap. he wont give you a sandwich unless he puts it on a plate and covers it in plastic wrap first. and he does the ice cream scooper for the mashed potatoes even though he’s been handling money all day and cleaning up. i dont think its really up to code, but cavemen didnt have codes and sanitation rules either and they still survived several thousand years… its clean and spacious and tasty enough. but i wouldnt go out of my way to get here. if there was something better next to it, i would go there. duh. its the only food shop in the whole office park

I think this place is sweet. In the nice old Jewish grandmother way, not the«dude. sweet!» way. Yes, it’s tiny, and the food isn’t great, but they do offer a nice assortment of baked goods, sodas, cigarettes and other necessities for students and people who work in the building complex. Their homemade(okay. this is questionable, I think they may actually be Tollhouse break and bakes.) somewhat lumpy and heartshaped chocolate chip cookies are quite wonderful, as are their dessert bars(7-layer, pecan, brownies, etc.) The counter is littered with chips, fruit, candies, protein and energy bars. I don’t smoke anymore, but when I did I always found it terribly convenient that they sold cigarettes. They sell greeting cards too, which is pretty awesome. If you like wraps(which I don’t) this place has a fairly large selection, and the sandwiches aren’t too bad. Salads are probably the best direction to go in; they’re the freshest and most dependably tasty. The coffee is usually good, and they offer espresso as well, freshly brewed, good and strong. They’ve got three(I think?) refridgerator cases full of sodas, juices, premade sandwiches and salads, and fruit. It really is an all purpose convenience café. It’s got a nice fountain outside, too, so it’s pleasant to sit there and listen to the water while you eat.(There is indoor and outdoor seating — both get some nice sunshine and a breeze.) Most people don’t even know it exists, as it’s tucked away in a little nook in an office building structure. It’s worth seeking out, though, if only for an americano, cookie, and pack of smokes.
