When my daughter was learning to read I knew there was an issue — I home schooled her and was beginning to really worry by the time she reached 3rd grade. By the end of fourth grade I was sure my daughter would never be able to write or read very well. Her words were scattered across the page and she would often write things backwards. Fortunately, I found Dr. Valenti who I cannot thank enough for saving my daughter’s future. After undergoing vision therapy, by the time she made it to high school she was doing quite well, and graduated with a 4.0. She is now in her third year of college and last semester her Lit. teacher asked her why she wasn’t majoring in writing! She is a gifted writer and one would never know she ever had any issues! I believe in what Dr. V does so much that I want everyone to know that there is an answer outside medicine! He also helped one of my sons of who’s eyes did not converge before therapy. My husband also saw him for several sessions to help him read faster at work. My nephew stayed in SD for one summer to get therapy and even at the accelerated pace, his grades went up from c’s and d’s to b’s that following high school year. If you think there could be something wrong with your loved one, don’t wait! I wish I had found him sooner!

Dr. Valenti has an optometry practice specializing in Vision Therapy in La Jolla. It’s in the same plaza as El Torito so it’s really close to UCSD. Great opportunity to volunteer! He takes his interns out to get to know them better. When you’re volunteering at his office, he gives you actual responsibilities to make you feel useful. He loves what he does so he’s a great doctor. His interactions with his patients are unbelievable. He’s so patient and kind, such an ideal doctor. His staff is great, too! They’re very nice and welcoming. I definitely recommend Dr. Valenti as a mentor, doctor, everything!
