3 stars because I always get some some type of long wait or mess up with appointments. Also some of the staff are rude and act like they are miserable working for the VA. I hope they fire these people because I am over getting treated like crap here.

a few week ago, after a biopsy, I was diagnosed with actinic cheilitis which could lead to squamous cell carcinoma I was told to make an appointment with a Dermatologist which I did for March 10th @ 11AM, I got a call today to make an appointment with a Dermatologist, I called and talked to «George» and he said the Appoint. was never made, I was told I could have an appointment this Friday the 27, I explained I would be out of town for work, he said the next available Appoint. would be in JUNE, ?? I had had a biopsy in 09 with the same results as above and nothing was done ??. Since I now, after years of good service, don’t trust the VA. I am going to an outside Dr. for my problem and probably continue to use out side Drs. I THOUGHTTHISDELAYEDAPPOINTMENTSTUFFWAS GOINGTOGETBETTER ???

Waited two months for an appointment. The day of they called and said my Doc had called in sick and I’d have to reschedule. The next available appointment was two months later. Horrible.

It is tough to get an appointment at a convenient time, but once you get in the docs are good at what they do. They still have the model of an organization that sees patients who don’t work or have busy schedules so making care convenient is just not their priority. I went to the ER recently with some odd abdominal pain and they took care of me quite well.

Sometimes we take family for granted… but after you lose a loved one, you do everything you can to preserve the family you still have in your life. Enter the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs; I cannot say enough good things about this government service. Nothing is more important to me than my family. So when my father’s health started deteriorating at such a rapid rate after my big sissy passed, we turned to Medicare to aid in helping us with costs of home healthcare and other supplies my dad needed. If any of you have had to deal with Medicare, you’d know what a nightmare it is to get goods approved once the doctor sends in orders… they are notorious for taking forever. Then we tried Tricare… still no luck. Tricare follows the same guidelines as Medicare so we were stuck between a rock and a hard place. After months of trying without success, we didn’t even think to think about turning to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Thank goodness we did! Upon our visit, we were immediately brought in to see a nurse who checked my dad’s vitals… I remember her going«EMILYYYYYY!» and hugging me, then scolded me for being late, haha. Turns out she was one of my Zumba students at the Marine Corps Base gym. My dad was immediately relieved by that and was able to coherently answer all the questions she asked. After that was his medical assessment which was performed by an equally nice doctor, we were able to finally process the orders he needed. Within the hour that we were there, my dad was given a spiffy new wheelchair and walker! The very next week, we had a Physical Therapist come by to help with my dad’s mobility, teaching all of us kids how to perform the moves so we could do them with my dad daily. We were also able to get custodial care for my dad which was a huge relief. They even had someone come and assess my parent’s home to make sure it was as handicap friendly as possible… we had already taken measures by installing handrails in his shower but they thought of measures we didn’t so we were grateful for not only their kind help but their immediate expediting of orders. It brought my family a huge sense of relief and we are eternally grateful for their services. Thank you so much for providing my dad with amazing care and attention. And thank you for honoring your active and retired military. 5 outstanding stars!

The Department of Veterans Affairs has been a part of our family since WWII. My parents, uncles, aunts and cousins. The VA helped us buy our homes, educate our children and heal our sick. G-d found and enabled many gifted people to serve our veterans and their families. Thank you VA for helping me work and go to school. Shalom.

Had a cyst removed here and it was actually a good experience. The staff and doctors were great. Very comforting and they do an amazing job on pain management.
