This is by far the best Philly cheese steak place in San Diego. The portions are huge the quality of food is amazing the staff is friendly. You are doing yourself a disservice by not going here.

Service is terrible. Waited 20-mins and no one even acknowledged we were there. Unfriendly and unprofessional! Will not go back

This is a great spot for breakfast. Nothing fancy but good food fast. I have never had a problem with them messing up my order. I usually get an omlette and then get tortillas on the side and make a little breakfast burrito. They also have a large selection for both breakfast and lunch. I wish I tried a gyro from there before i stopped eating meat. They look amazing.

This place is a hidden gem! Really yummy food. I love the chicken philly sandwich and the Greek salad with chicken. Generous portions and really good flavor. The salad is always topped with lots of feta! My brother always gets the pastrami sandwich and says its to die for. A little hole in the wall with great food. A little pricey but I think it’s worth it and I like knowing I am helping support a local business :)

Very disappointing. I can’t do business here anymore. As much as I love their food, they charged me $ 18(!!) for a Greek salad with chicken, and $ 20(!!) for a large Chicken, bacon and cheese sub. What! I could go to Donovan steak house for these prices! Apparently the chicken is $ 5 on top of the $ 13 salad, and the large sub is $ 13 – 14 with an up charge of $ 5(!!) for bacon! Not only are those prices outrageous for this little mom and pop diner, but they handled it all wrong. When I made my take out order over the phone, not only did they have their sweet, smart, and hard working under age precious son who’s about 13 years old answering the phone, but God Bless him he never told me my total, let alone the up charges and increases on their menu. When I arrived I questioned the kiddo thinking the math was wrong, although he did a great job, his grouchy, bull dog supervisor, who I believe was his mother was rude and abrasive to not only him questioning what he did wrong, but to me to when I had my questions. In my opinion, a good business owner would’ve said«I’m so sorry you weren’t aware of our pricing increase and for the up charges for both protein items, so this time I won’t charge you, but in the future please be aware of our new pricing.» Come on local businesses, don’t commit sales and customer service suicide when I’m a friendly happy gal who’s been in YOUR corner even when our neighbors have been complaining about your bad attitudes and just mid grade decent food for years! Apparently, the explanation was that they raised their pricing due to «increase in minimum wage, so now our consumers have to eat it»…and I quote! Ha! I also didn’t appreciate the righteous and abrasive attitude behind their tone when I questioned their pricing. They’ve now lost a loyal customer who has a very loud voice on Unilocal

They have several of these throughout San Diego and the high desert and I’ve never been disappointed by them… this one is the same, I love the home fries! BUT, they charge 2.95 for a kids Apple juice!

Have you ever noticed that place that’s at the end of the road? You look at it and say«one day I should go there.» Every time that you pass by that place, it seems to be full of people. You can’t help but wonder, do they know something that I don’t? Well, today was that day that I finally went there.
You should check that place out, that place that’s at the end of your road. The place that you haven’t stopped at but intended to. That place that I mentioned that you have wondered about. Go there and support your local business owners. Especially if they are good at their craft. It took me seven years. Gus’s sits in between an independent gas station and a 7⁄11(that I also reviewed in the past) and shares a parking lot with a real estate service. All the other businesses are tucked in to the lot but Gus’s stands out with it building reaching the edge of the sidewalk. It’s a real easy find. They offer a plethora of sandwiches that include all of the delicatessen styles, dinners, lunches, breakfast(that’s when I notice the crowds) and pizza. If you have a family of the likes of mine, they will appreciate the variety that this place offers. We ordered the Gyro, a Rueben and a Pizza via phone for pick up. All of which were outstanding. Check this place out, the pricing is really reasonable, the food is quality and although I didn’t elaborate on the service, it was great.

Had the philly steak. No where near as good as it was talked up to be. The pastrami sandwich is still #1. Service is good as always. Philly just had NO flavor.

Totally awesome family run operation. One of the best pastrami sandwich’s in town. Everything I have tried I have liked. The large sandwiches are pricy, but it is 2 meals… so I think it is well worth it. Please try Gus’s, you will not regret it. P. s. the pizzas are awesome!

Came to Gus’s for breakfast after a little Sunday morning hike up nearby Cowles mountain. If you’re driving by the name of the place might not exactly scream great breakfast food, but they have a pretty hefty breakfast menu. I’m glad my friend suggested it as I would have never even thought of it as an option. There’s a covered patio along with an indoor seating area. There’s no hostess, so you can sit wherever you like. There’s also a specials board by the front door, so you may want to take a gander before you pick your seat. We sat on the patio and decided to order two items to share. We opted for the Pastrami Benedict, which was on the specials board, and the Banana Nut Pancakes. We probably could have ordered just one of these things as the portion sizes are quite generous, but we wanted to try more than one thing. The pastrami was packed with flavor and the hollandaise sauce was the perfect consistency. The home fries that we chose as a side were nothing special, but they were solid enough. The pancakes came in a stack of three and were covered with banana and walnuts. I’m normally not much of a sweets person, but these were excellent and not over the top sweet. The service here didn’t wow me, but I wasn’t disappointed either. Everyone working here seems very friendly just don’t come here if you’re in a big hurry.

A friend told me about this place back in the day. So we packed up the family and went had a killer breakfast. They have many combos setup so it’s easy to order. Pizza is to die for, legit. Family owned and operated for years. Great chilled out atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Had Father’s day breakfast here. First time eating here and have to say they CRUSHED it! Home fried potatoes were legit, pancakes were fluffy and tasty. Wife had the skillet and was impressed, which is hard to do!!! the only negative comment I have is that the syrup dispenser napkin holders and tables were a little dirty and could use a little bit more attention. but overall it was really good and we will return to try the Philly and subs next time.

Wow… Probably the best omelets I have ever had in a while. Also, the potatoes tasted like pieces of steak… I don’t know why but dang… it was amazeballz. Overall experience 10⁄10 with food. Customer service is great. We were greeted before taking a step inside the store. 10⁄10. Busy here today. Happy Easter people. Don’t forget to come visit this place for breakfast. hmm hmm hmmm.
