If you ever cared about the planet you would be recycling or at least giving your recycling to someone who does. It can be as easy as collecting from your office or school or as hard as digging in the streets. Today’s society has no compass of how our basic human needs are provided. It’s a shame to seem down on their luck homeless doing more for the environment than everyday folk with the means for real change. It’s a pleasure to see kids, families and the needy come here for the greater good, albeit enticed by a small cash reward. 2 manual feeders process the bulk of the recycling scanning each for material and viability, at the end a receipt is printed which is taken inside to the self check out and backed by Albertsons for cash. Recycling not cleared by the machines is weight in bulk via blue bins. This service is slow as often the line is long and not currently available. Glass, Aluminum, Plastic recycling only. Take raw material recycling to EDCO in the business loop. It can get pretty messy so most people are courteous enough to drain, but if not there is a dump bucket with a filter(mostly cigarette butts). They have hand sanitizer for convenience. The whole area is a little grimy. Service is ok, but the gentleman who works here can skeeve people out, probably a reason he’s not specifically in the service industry. Recycling by hand is more lucrative than bulk, but if you have time, ethic and patience I’d come here for the extra monetary incentive.

I’ve been bringing my son here to do his recycling for the last three years. The guy that normally works here is really nice to him. This place is convenient for us. There is always parking. He used to use the machines a lot at first and the attendant would exchange bottles that didn’t fit in the machine or were too crumpled to go through. Now that he gets so many from various people for his little recycling project, he just weighs everything. They’re closed on Sunday and Monday. There is an attendant Tuesday through Saturday from 9 — 4:30. The machines are open until 7. They have a chart posted of the prices they pay per pound for various recyclables. Once you’re finished, you just take your little slip inside Albertsons to a cashier and exchange it for cash. It’s that simple. My little dude has it down to a science. The cashiers know him and joke around with him and give him candy. He enjoys his little routine. The store manager even exchanges his smaller bills for larger ones and asks him what he’s saving his money for or how school is going, ect.

Reasons why you may NOT want to go to this center Machines are always broke People don’t know how to park their cars before they start to recycle Homeless people bring their cans and half there home and spread it all over the area The machines don’t compute new style bottles The machines barely compute actual bottles it should take Hours during week are not conducive for people who actually have jobs Forget trying to use them on the weekend. Maybe instead of only two machines, you could bump it up to four Crazies manning the station on the weekends Yes I can get more money doing it this way, but I may just save the hassle and stick with EDCO
