My husband found this on Unilocal.Because we are a Chinese family, we eat a lot of Chinese food, and this place is good! Great service, kind owner, and good food. We ordered black bean fish, it was delicious! The chow mein was really flavorful and the veggies were crisp and fresh. We will definitely be coming back! One other note, we went right before closing and they were still very kind.

I ordered two lunch specials to go one with orange chicken and the other with Mongolian beef. When I got home and opened it up they gave me pepper chicken and broccoli beef. My best guess is cause they didn’t have the others already prepared. The pepper chicken had a funny taste like they tried to convert it to orange chicken. I also ordered some bbq buns and they forgot to make them so they went to the back and made them so fast. I’m sure they just microwave the hell out of them. The chow mein was not fresh or close to fresh you can tell cause the noodles have swollen so fat they just fall apart. it just seems there is someone in the back microwaving everything. I called to tell them they messed up my order and all they said was so sorry. Don’t waste your time or money on this place.

I used to come here when it was Jay’s Kitchen — an old school LM classic. Then they switched owners and i stopped eating there cause it sucked. But i stopped in again recently because i noticed the name change and thought, what the hell… And it was delicious! I got: Shrimp fried rice Chicken chow mein Chicken wings Beef & Broccoli Nice big portions. Oh! Spend $ 20 and you get a free order of eggrolls. Nice! Also, dont forget to get your card stamped. Free stuff on 5th&10th visit. And you can actually eat there now. There was never tables before @ «Jay’s» 10⁄10 will visit again and again.

Had never been to this place before, but I was very impressed. They have great dinner deals and everything is made fresh while you wait. This takes a little while but is totally worth it. It is also super affordable! I had sesame chicken, chow mein, fried rice, egg rolls, wontons and a drink for like $ 7! It was super tasty too. Of all the Chinese places around La Mirada, I would say this one is one of the best.

I have no idea how this place is rated 4 stars. Maybe we got them on a bad night. Maybe people have no idea what good Chinese food is. I hate giving a one star review, but I was actually expecting to check Unilocal and see a one or two star review. My husband ordered delivery from them. We were hoping it was good. It was definitely inexpensive. We got spring rolls, fried shrimp, kung pao combo, chow mein, sweet and sour shrimp, fried rice, vegetable mushroom with fried tofu, steamed rice, and pad thai. All of it cost a little over $ 40 delivered. Not bad. The spring rolls were meh. The fried shrimp had raw batter on them. We had to stick them in the microwave, and even then it wasn’t that good. Everything else all tasted like it had the same sauce on it, just different colors. And the sauce had no flavor. Maybe they all just tasted salty? I couldn’t even tell you. The pad thai did have a different flavor, but it was just an odd citrusy flavor. It was probably my least favorite item, and the one we had the most of. We had so much food, we couldn’t waste it. So we just ate everything with copious amounts of hot sauce on it to make it taste like something. The one positive is that all of the ingredients were very fresh. The vegetables were crunchy, the shrimp was good quality, and the meat was tender. I will definitely not be trying this place again.

I agree the lunch specials are great!!! And the green tea(sweet) is wonderful and refreshing. The food was very fresh and the fried rice was not oily at all… I got the sesame chicken and it was so fresh it was steaming in the box. I will be back !!!

Best lunch deal in the area, entrée, rice, chow mein, eggroll, drink for $ 5.99. Best of all… it’s made to order and not sitting there like most fast food chinese.

I like this place a lot. I always get the same thing. The lunch combo with sesame chicken. The Mongolian beef is really good. The house special fried rice is very tasty. I always recommend the lunch special between 11 and 3 you can choose from the menu comes with rice a wonton, eggroll and you choose from a green tea or milk tea. Prices range on lunch special 4.99 to 6.99 great price. I can feed about 4 people for just 20 $ I think thats good. Never had to wait long on food and everything is hot and good. Deff will always come here for lunch.

Lunch specials are the best, between 11am-3pm. Get an entrée, fried rice, chow mein, one egg roll, one cream cheese wonton and a milk tea for $ 6 – 8 depending on the entrée. I ordered sesame chicken, it was very flavorful and made with white meat :) Chow mein and fried rice tasted freshly made. Crispy egg roll and wonton that tasted just right! The milk tea was a bit sweet but still good.

We got their brochure in the mail at work this morning, so we decided to give it a try. When we walked in we noticed the restaurant was VERY warm, but figured since we were just taking it out we wouldn’t have to be there very long. Unfortunately, it took us just under ANHOUR to receive our food. We did order a good amount of food, but really? an hour? I’ve gone to actual restaurants with very good quality food and waited less time and finished an entire meal in shorter time. We ordered 3 sides of orange chicken, 1 side of lemon chicken and 1 combo plate. Since it had taken so long, we went straight back to work without checking everything. We noticed when we got back to work that they had even forgotten some of the food. On top of that, half of the food was cold, like it was waiting in the boxes while the rest was still cooking. I wouldn’t write such a negative review if the flavor was good enough, but honestly it didn’t even taste good to make up for the long wait and cold food. It was seriously a big waste of money. I will make sure to just go to the dollar Chinese food place down the street(off Valley View and Rosecrans in the commercial buildings). Its cheaper, the food tastes delicious and they’re willing to make fresh food and still not make you wait more than 5 – 10 minutes. I’m not one to write reviews, ESPECIALLY bad reviews, but this was the worst experience from a fast food Chinese restaurant I’ve ever experienced.

Normally I don’t like to try new restaurants but I had no choice everything else was closed on Sunday night at 9pm. We placed our order for combo letter a and we could hear them cook it fresh in the back. I wanted onion Temporel and the lady told me they didn’t have it but she was nice enough to have a cook make it for me.

The family wanted Chinese take out so we decided to try this place since we just got a flyer from them this week. We ordered chow mein, fried rice, orange chicken, beef and brocolli, egg rolls, wontons and boba Thai teas. Every one was pretty satisfied and for 5 of us the price was decent; we ordered the family meal. Another plus is that they deliver for free within a 2 mile radius. This place is pretty small so I can see why many customers mostly ordered take out. Anyway, it was yummy!

I tried this place for the first time today and my experience was not all that great, service was good they had my food ready to go when I arrived since I called it in but the food just didn’t cut it. We ordered a few plates like Beef and Broccoli, a few other things with chicken and shrimp including shrimp fried rice and a chicken bowl. Most of the food lacked flavor, the beef and broccoli had almost no flavor and the broccoli wasn’t even cooked enough, I felt like I was eating raw broccoli. The chicken bowl was mostly rice and a few pieces of chicken with a lot of skin/fat and again the vegetables weren’t even cooked just flash steamed, how can they mess up such a simple dish?! oh well I’m definitely not coming back to this place. There’s a japanese place literally a few steps from this place around the corner from the donuts, now that place is good! awesome chicken bowls great value and customer service is on point there, definitely give them a try.

This place was at one time«Jay’s Kitchen!» I am so sorry Jay’s Kitchen closed because in the 20 odd years that I ordered from Jays, we never received a bad meal. I do not think any establishment could ever top Jays authentic Chinese Food! Everything was always freshly cooked with the best ingredients Oh back to reviewing The Tasty Wok… The girl at the order desk was friendly and helpful. But her false eyelashes kept distracting me as I asked questions about the menu. :) The inside of what used to be Jay’s has changed. There are 4 or 5 small tables to eat in now. Another big change is they only have ONE expensive combination dinner and a few rice bowls. :(I thought their pricing was a bit high. A large Wonton Soup was $ 7.95??? Oh and now they DODELIVER! I have ordered Egg Flower Soup, Hot and Sour Soup, Shrimp Chow Mein, War Won Ton Soup, Fried Rice, Orange Chicken and Walnut Shrimp. The soups are on point. They are tasty and of the right consistency, I enjoyed them. The fried rice was a disappointment, the rice was dry with NO flavor, we threw the rice away. The Orange Chicken, Shrimp Chow Mein, and Walnut Shrimp were flavorful and cooked well. I would purchase again. I have only ordered from here twice so will try a few more times and review again.

I kept walking by this place for a while and finally decided to stop by. The lady at the counter, with the thick accent, made me feel a tad rushed at choosing my item. Most places do this so I didn’t mind. I decided to get the lunch special: lemon chicken, cream cheese wonton, egg roll, egg soup, and rice. For my mother I ordered String Beans, which came with rice and Sweet and Sour Soup. The wait took about twelve or ten minutes. Lemon Chicken: It was simply divine! A lovely incrusted chicken with sweet lemon glaze Cream cheese wonton: It was pretty average, nice crunch, not burned like with other places Egg roll: I’m sort of disappointed. It was soft with a crunchy bottom. Anyway, the flavor was there. Steamed Rice: It was like any other rice. Egg soup: I didn’t really enjoy it. It was quite thick, but definitely had the taste of egg. Sweet and Sour Soup: Thick as well, not very spicy, which was good in my opinion. String beans: I normally don’t like string beans but these were an exception! Overall I was quite surprised with the lovely taste of this place. Despite its shabby outdoor look, the place is worth going to. I’ll definitely come again.
