I enjoyed Chilango for brunch. The cocktails were excellent. Nice balance, beautiful, and wonderfully frothy. The Mexican spiced coffee was really good, too. Definitely order this, although be aware that it comes sweetened. It’s also better after your meal, because the strong flavors make it harder to appreciate the food, in my opinion. The food itself was good, but not great. The habanero maple bacon was a small serving for $ 4, and I’m a little spoiled because I make great chile-glazed bacon, using thicker bacon(Bacon Axiom 4: Bacon can only be too thin, not too thick). No habanero flavor, which, granted, is hard to extract without making food that’s too spicy for mere mortals(I’ve got a great batch of habanero nectarine hot sauce in the fridge right now that’s making my mouth water just thinking about it). The shrimp chilaquiles were really good, and the better of our two dishes. Beautiful, perfectly-cooked shrimp, and the dish was big and filling. The huaraches was a little less perfect. It tasted good, but I wasn’t a big fan of the masa cake(a little hard to cut through with a butter knife, although I liked the texture once I got it in my mouth). The bigger issue was the eggs were undersalted. The dish was also much better once the server brought me their house hot sauce, which took the dish where I like my Mexican breakfast to be. A little better bacon, and slight tweaks to the huaraches and I’d up this to 5 stars.

Just had brunch at Chilango and it was amazing. I had French toast topped with fresh strawberries; it came out piping hot! My boyfriend had the Shrimp Chilaquiles and he said it was delicious. I even managed to meet the chef who lived in the DMV area some time. Our bartender was Chris; super friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the crafted drinks. It you’re going to New Orleans add this restaurant to your list. Laissez les bons temps rouler!”

My new favorite brunch in nola! Actually one of the best i’ve had and i’ve tried a lot. Whether you are a mythical unicorn of love or damned demonized devil of lust they’ve got what you want, i know just trust! Yummy, yummy, yummy, ive got stuff in my tummy… And Chilango put it inside of me… Oh so good! Like the most flavorful of dreams that becomes a reality when sunbeams of mystical creation form the cuisine into a spirit funneled through the chefs at Chilango. No joke it’s the realest of deals and makes everything in life ok! Better than ok, fu(kn amazing Grace how sweet the tastiest when the noodles of divinity topped with an egg of purity entered my mouth accompanied with a house made tortilla chip topped with crab delicious pair with nectar of the Gods in the form of orange, kale, or beat! Don’t forget a cocktail and service of the most beautiful variety that makes you more than smile;-) Jessica and Clare made me feel like royalty and the laughter flowed like the swallows of Capistrano. Chef Christian, Gina, and Baruk even made an appearance from magic making to answer a few questions with a twinkle in the eye. Ooohhhhh Chilango how you’ve changed my life! I love you forever infinitely until we meet in pure Divinity.

By far one of the best brunches Ive had in nola. They have at least one to two specials every weekend, and the food is superb! The cooks, Baruch and Christian, do a wonderful job in preparing what I can only describe to be some of he most delicious mexican inspired dishes. My personal favorites are the chicken taquitos and oysters for apatizers, only to be followed by the shrimp chilliquiles and hurrachas. Not to mention the Mexican ice cream for dessert. The brunch has fresh juices everyday and the choice of Mexican coffee, which is just awesome! The service is wonderful and it’s located in a great part of town. Perfect to start your Saturday or Sunday and then continue your day in the marginy!
