Lovely cheese monger and Sandwich Shop. The space was clean Light open and tiled which make it Extremely LOUD. We arrived at 1PM tail ending the lunch rush and found a seat at the bar. It was busy and loud, hard to carry a conversation, Not a ding but be aware of the sound level. However by 2PM as we were finishing our meal it had cleared out and the volume decreased greatly. The Cashier and server were very personable and friendly, happy to answer our questions and offer suggestions based on our questions. We enjoyed a delightful cured ham plate for the table, I had a nice bowl of potato corn and bacon chowder, and we split the the house Pastrami Sandwich. They were happy to split serve the sandwich. Well priced considering the high quality of the foods.

This second location it not only a great addition to Warehouse District but also to French Quarter because of it’s easy access. Prices are good, large seating area including counter seats in a bright and airy room with large front windows flooding the place with natural light during the day. Excellent service, you order at counter and they bring it to your table, and staff are all extremely friendly and helpful. The Gruyère sandwich and the Brie de Meaux are the only things I have had and both were excellent. The Ploughman’s Lunch looks fantastic as do the cheese boards, in fact it all looks great, they even have a Mini Moo that’s a grilled cheese with fruit and chips for the kids. They also have salads, Mac and Cheese and an assortment of cheeses and other items to purchase to take home. Small but nice assortment of wine and beers to have with your meal.

So happy they opened a second location in the warehouse district! The atmosphere is casual and the service friendly. You order at the counter and they bring the food to you. The cheese bites are such a fun idea. If you just want a little sample or nibble with a glass of wine, these are perfect!

This location is much roomier than the Uptown location with seemingly more tables available to diners. I’m not a cheese aficionado so I cannot comment on any differences in availability between the two locations but the menu seemed to be spot on. We started with the 5-item cheese board – its ok to tell them if you don’t like a particular cheese(I requested no bleu or brie) and some wine. Next, I had the Il Mostro and my friend got the open faced Spanish inspired sandwich(cant recall the name). Both are very hearty; in fact, the Il Mostro could easily be split between two people. If you tell them you’d like to split a sandwich, they will happily plate it for your separately which I think is great! The sandwiches are a bit obtuse to eat mainly because of the thick Bellegarde bread and the amount of meat piled on – don’t get me wrong, these are both very good problems to have but just an FYI in case you’re meeting someone you’d rather not stuff your face in front of :) We finished with the bread pudding and the cheesecake. Both were so delicious and easily two of the best desserts I’ve ever eaten. It is on the pricier side but you’ve got to figure that you’re getting quality meats and cheeses. Think of it as a small price to pay to fake the aficionado role! Happy hour seems like a steal deal! FTT(first timers tip!): You order at the counter and find your own seating. If you want to do a cheese board or an app, specify that when placing your order or place your main course order at a separate time otherwise everything will arrive at once – again, not necessarily a bad thing!

Even better than the Uptown store because of the space. The staff is nice and the food is perfect. If your in on biz, it’s also a great takeout and u can get a bottle at VINO across the street.

Great lunch. Cheese lover’s paradise! We had a Ruben, a sandwich special, and the featured side(ricotta). All delicious and a great atmosphere. Wish we lived nearby so we could stock up on a bunch of delicious cheeses.

I was in town for a conference at the Hilton Riverside and once I discovered this spot I just kept coming back every day for lunch. I had the blueberry hill salad with gouda and roasted chicken & the manchego salad with roasted turkey. Both were fresh, tasty, and quite filling, though I wish the cheeses were more prominent — there was just a bit of each grated on top. I also stopped by one afternoon and grabbed a happy hour special, a $ 10 cheese board with three cheeses of your choice(I let the experts pick) accompanied by honeyed walnuts, fig jam, fresh blueberries and green apple slices, and fresh crusty bread. A bit of advice — even for a cheese lover, it was a bit much, a cheese board is meant to be shared :)

I am from California and was in town for a conference. The pictures on Unilocal lured me in! It was a bit of a walk from the convention center(half mile) but worth every step! I got the roast beef sandwich(I switched cheese since I am not a huge blue cheese fan). The sandwich was amazing! Everything was fresh and the bread was really tasty! The side salad was also very tasty! A huge sandwich and side for under $ 11! Great deal! I even went back the next day and got the pesto mozzarella and salami sandwich(added tomato) and every bite was amazing! I enjoyed that sandwich more than the roast beef! I’m not a huge seafood or Cajun eater so this was perfect And very reasonably priced!!!

Fabulous. Delicious. Adequately priced. The head chef really knows his information and it was really refreshing to see him taking the plates out to the patrons and also helping the wait staff clean the tables. One of the best places I’ve ever eaten here in NOLA.

I had a fantastic ploughman’s lunch here while visiting for a conference. I’m from Europe already, and had had enough of the local cuisine. So I was pretty darn excited to find this place, where I could grab a much healthier lunch than surrounding cafes. Instead of Branston pickle(which is how I’ve been served it in Europe), it comes with a nice chutney. I did miss the chance for some Branston but I understand not everyone here would enjoy that, and the chutney made for a refreshing taste. I’d say the price point was quite high, but it was worth it in the end as it tasted great. I don’t NOLA well at all, so I can’t say much about location, other than that it’s conveniently placed for lunch just away from the convention crowd. I was able to get in and out well before friends at other cafes.

Wife and I came here for lunch. I had the gruyère sandwich. It was great! With the caramelized onions and cheese it tasted like onion soup in a sandwich. Wife had hooks cheddar sandwich. Delicious! A little on the pricey side but you’re paying for the location. I would come here again.

We were in town for Jazz Fess and just looking for a quick place within walking distance to get take out and go back to the hotel to catch up on sleep… yes, I know we were in NOLA but exhausted. This place did not disappoint. Kinda pricey for sandwiches, BUT so worth it. The cheese on the sandwich was to die for.

This place is incredible. My sister is a huge cheese lover and found this gem on our trip to NOLA. Everything we got was good. My husband and I split a turkey avocado club sandwich and grilled cheese. I was shocked at how incredible the turkey avocado sandwich was. Both the side salad and potato chips were tasty. We had a small sampler and everything on it was heavenly plus the presentation was absolutely perfect. They had a great beer and wine selection as well. Excellent service. Gorgeous location. Everything about this place screams five stars. Try it out. Trust me.

I love St. James as New Orleans is fairly limited in cheese purveyors without them. I’m glad they opened this location because it’s a lot more convenient for me to get to than the Uptown location. The cheeses are great. Sandwiches and salads are great. And I rarely walk out of there with another goodie in tow to take home and nosh on.

I’m so glad this location opened. It’s a lot smaller than the Uptown location in terms of the cheese offerings, but I was still able to find something. I didn’t try any of their sandwiches/lunch offerings, although I’d love to go back. The line was pretty long for ordering food on a Saturday right around lunch time, but I walked up to the cheese counter with no problem. They also have a separate register for«to-go» orders, so if that’s an option for you — especially during the lunch rush — I’d consider doing this.

Just happened to be walking by and we had to stick out head in because… Cheese! Wow! Grüner Veltliner on the wine list and 3 cheese plate made the perfect appetizer! We will definitely visit again!

Some of the best lunch and sandwiches I have ever had. Everything on the menu looks delicious and everything I had was amazing. I got the hooks cheddar sandwich and a side of gruyère mac n cheese, both of which easily ranked among my favorite lunch experiences. Their larder selection is also extensive. The service was amazing. The cashier and servers were both helpful, and when they forgot to add turkey to my friend’s sandwich, they made her a new one and fully refunded her check. This is a must for anyone visiting or living in New Orleans.

A Happy Hour cheese plate? Raclette Night? Cheese Class?! These guys are my people! I visited their Warehouse District location. It is in a nice brick building with large plate glass windows facing Tchoupitoulas Street. The décor is an exercise in minimalism; bright, open and with not a lot of décor that doesn’t have something to do with cheese or cheese accessories. The cheese case itself is well stocked with domestic and European cheeses and laden with all sorts of temptation. My hotel room didn’t have a mini fridge, so I found it easier to resist than I otherwise would have. But by any measure it’s a formidable cheese shop. They also have a full line of sandwiches, salads and other delectable cheesy goodness to choose from. After scanning over the menu for what seemed like and eternity– so many options, I finally made my decision. Ironically, I ended up ordering the not very cheesy. but still very delicious Il Mostro. It’s there version of an Italian sandwich with capicola, rosemary ham, salami and aged provolone. It’s served on ciabatta with leaf lettuce, tomato, pickled onion and pepperoncini mayo. Il Mostro is a great sandwich. The toothsome, meaty goodness of the cured pork was complemented by the deeper, mellow tones from the aged provolone and contrasted by the bright, slightly piquant notes from the pepperoncini mayo. It was your basic Italian sub cranked up to 11 and wearing a tux. Well done! I look forward to visiting St. James Cheese Company on my future visits to New Orleans and making my way through their menu and their display case!

Great food great atmosphere for the price. However I won’t go back because the hostess/cashier made both of us feel unwelcome. She was condescending, sarcastic, and had a rude tone when I asked«where are the cups?» Really? I had never been there before and asked a simple question. She wore a dog collar as a necklace. Two stars.

I think I will dream about this sandwich. The bread. The cheese. The meat. So amazing! I got the hooks cheddar and it was delicious. Everything went together so well. Would currently eat 100 of these.

So happy they added another location in warehouse. This place is great on many levels. The food is amazing. The atmosphere is up beat. The staff is very helpful and seem to enjoy being there. My favorite sandwiches are the gruyère and the mozzarella. I highly recommend those as well as the mac and cheese. They have good local beers on tap as well as a decent wine selection. As far as buying cheese for the house every recommendation I’ve received from the staff has turned out great.

Such a charming little place! It has all the feel of a place we can’t afford in a price we could! My girlfriend(she is lovely) heard of this place on Pinterest(but a different location). We had done a swamp tour, and our driver was so bad that we hopped off first chance we got and walked. Lovely girlfriend recognized the name and we went in. We ordered the Sheepy Bites and the 3 cheese plate. You don’t get to pick your cheese for the plates, but they’ll avoid something you don’t like. The Sheepy bites were a stunning blend of flavors. Cheese and apple on a crispy chorizo slice. Woah good! The cheese plate is built by their cheese mongers. They come to your table, describe your cheeses and what they paired it with. It comes with 2 kinds of bread, both of which are delicious. Definitely worth walking over to the CBD to check this place out!

Amazing cheese. Beautiful space. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. Expertly curated wine and craft beer. Great spot for lunch, but I had a blast simply sitting at the cheese bar munching on cheese and crackers and sipping an IPA.

4⁄5 cathedral du cheese munching on a brie baguette as I type this up. for day 2, they have a good flow already going. It’s a beautiful clean space that feels way more open than the cozy space uptown. there’s actually room to display non-food items. coffee needs handled next door at revelator — can imagine this being a nice lunch option after Saturday farmers market. the tile is a cute touch. they have a wide open cheese case that they talk you through and will have a fuller menu going soon. but your urgent, insatiable cheese needs can be handled immediately — you can get a chunk or a hunk or a board. if I worked closer to lower CBD I would stuff my face here daily. still missing: waiting on announcement for happy hours(hopefully soon!). also, doesn’t really have parking. I mean it’s CBD so generally that’s always tough.
