Small, quiet joint for Mexican food. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Food is average, nothing special. Fair prices.

We stumbled upon this place as we were heading to another place down the block. We saw that it was salsa night so we had to at least check it out. Well… we ended up staying all night! The band was amazing, we danced the salsa, marange, chacha, and bachata with the help of willing teachers. This is also a pretty good people watching spot as well. Towards the end of the night we had a taco and a Fanta.. . Taco was ok, not amazing. Definitely say no to the onions if you plan on talking to anyone else for 2 days… I can attribute my newfound interest in learning to salsa to this night in New Orleans.

Just the kind of taco place I was looking for. Great selection. The prices are a little high considering it’s just tacos, but given the over priced alternatives I’ll forgive them. It’s easy to tell if you’re getting a good portion size in a taco and here at T&T you’re not being shorted. We’re I to return I’d eat here again. The staff were friendly and knew their stuff.

I really liked this place! The fried fish burrito was amazing and they had good drink specials. They use all fresh ingredients in their drinks which was noticeable. I was in town for four days and went here twice. The staff was also really friendly and the prices were affordable. I wish I lived closer so I could go back again!

The quesadilla was amazing, the meat cooked to perfection. The service in the bar was great. We were there while a live Latin band played in the restaurant.

As a born and raised Angeleno(Los Angeles, CA), I know tacos. Everyone has heard of the Ensenada Tacos(Baja, Mexico) and California has a flavor like no where else. Tacos and Tequila is capturing some of that flavor. The tacos are well stuffed and you choose yor toppings. The Tequila choices are varied. IF, and I mean IF, you get tired of oysters and cream sauces, and fried catfish, you can sidle up to Tacos and Tequila and have some good, simple tacos and a shot or two. If you’re from L.A., you gotta try it! It’s a taste of home in the fabulous city. You won’t be disappointed. Strike up a conversation — you never know whom you might meet. I visited in December of 2014 — I’ve been on the road since, so it took me a minute to leave my review.

Tasty & unique. Smallish portions. Really fresh and authentic flavors. Try the strawberry chipotle sauce or sweet potato habanero. Not too hot. But funky place for lunch.

Fresh, funky and full of good ingredients. On top of the food, I had some sweet Horchata. Affordable. Sit outside. The folks working there were so kind and helpful. I’ll be back.

The food was delicious and very reasonably priced. The menu didn’t have a ton of choices but other than that everything was perfect! The two employees working were super friendly and eager to please. We will be back if we return to New Orleans in the future.

Had a birthday gathering at this place. The food was super delicious, fresh, and authentic. There’s so many options to eat. The bartender was very attentive and simply wanted to make sure all patrons were happy. I love the small, cozy bar area this place has. Can’t wait to go back, again!

This was one of the less exciting places during my stops for Mardi Gras. The staff was cool and the prices are fine. But I didn’t like the way the place was set up, it made for weird traffic with other people. At least on February 14th2015 all they were playing was late 2000 hip-hop which made this place feel like a wooden club… I didn’t get any food but wish I had as some of the items sounded intriguing.

Great place for a quick burrito taco or other dish. It is cafeteria style place, you pick type, meat then fillers. Would recommend this place for lunch

The menu and looks of Tacos and Tequila appears promising, but in execution the tacos are missing something, perhaps quality? I had three different tacos: chicken, redfish, and gulf shrimp al ajillo. So disappointing. The redfish and shrimp sounded really interesting, but turned out to be poorly executed(simply put: fried fish and shrimp tossed in garlic butter and herbs). The pickled jicama was overpowering to the point where it was a pickled taco with fried fish. The chicken was the highlight, and I chose the dressing– might as well made it myself in my hotel room. The queso and chips were, essentially, the same queso and chips you get at movie theaters. Meh. Should’ve saved our fix for the Flying Burrito in the Garden District.

TOMEIT’S THEWORSTMEXICANFOODINTOWN Sad because the employees are super engaging and the space(the old Rio Mar) is large and festive. But seriously, I’ve never had such flavorless and gummy carne asada, the chicken was dry, the chorizo? was puzzling, and the mealy corn tortillas were soggy. CONCESSIONSTANDQUESO(see pic) Having grown up part of my life in Texas the litmus test for any Tex-Mex restaurant is the quality of its queso(if it isn’t better than Velveeta and Rotel then just how good can the tamales be?) The dip here has no heat and is the same consistency as that at Yulman Stadium. But worse, the chips are terrible. They have that over-fried acridity of burnt corn. Bleah! Two bites and they were 86’d. NOT A TOTALDISASTER The fish taco is pretty darn good. The beer battered redfish is tempura fried and accompanied by a jicama slaw and tasty chipotle mayonnaise. But at $ 5.50 for a 5″ slider I felt ripped off. WAYBETTERTACOS/MEXICAN: Taqueria Guerrero, Los Poblanos food truck, La Casita, Juan’s Flying Burrito, Brandito’s, Sarita’s, Felipe’s, El Gato Negro, Taceaux Loceaux food truck, Rum House, taco tuesday at McDonough 35…

The name does not do this place justice — The interior was beautifully decorated, the atmosphere was fun, and the mixologist, Jeff, was spectacular. He made our first drinks exactly to our liking, then gave stellar recommendations. These tasty drinks were beautiful! Do yourself a favor, next time you’re in New Orleans, grab yourself some tacos and tequila!

I probably won’t ever come back here, unless I want a drink. The bartenders were both good and my margaritas were fresh and delicious. Too bad the food was pretty poor. It all tasted old, was barely lukewarm and their happy hour taco special so convoluted, the staff couldn’t even explain the parameters. To be fair, I did really like the guava hot sauce and the coconut hot sauce available after the register. All the«extra» stuff with an upcharge is not worth it, especially the corn salsa that was a $ 1 upcharge for each of my tacos.

Came here looking for a quick and cheap bite — saw that they had a special where it was buy 3 tacos for the price of 2 [typically $ 3 each], so we thought — why not? Background: Being from SoCal, I’m used to $ 1 taco truck tacos or 2 tacos for $ 3 specials, so tacos at $ 3ea seemed like a rip. $ 2ea? Sure, we’ll give it a try. The place in and of itself looked pretty clean, although it wasn’t entirely well lit. There was an assembly line feel when you got to the front of the line to order. My wife and I each got one carne asada and chicken taco, while a friend of ours got the al pastor and the carne asada. Disappointing. Simply disappointing. The carne asada was cubed pieces of beef with ZERO seasoning and flavor. The cubes were dry and simply not enjoyable. If they said beef taco — sure, it would have been fine, just boring. But calling it carne asada was borderline insulting. The chicken was decent, but having been so offput by the carne asada, it was hard to enjoy the chicken. Our friend said that the al pastor had chunks of canned pineapple that was just as offputting as our carne asada. He had also ordered a drink and told me «when you write your Unilocal review, mention that their drinks are just as bad as their tacos». Basically, if you’re from SoCal and have had your share of tacos/Mexican food, this place is pretty disappointing — don’t hold Tacos and Tequila to such standards.

Emily is the best at the bar! Try the Alto Limay Pinot Noir… its delish! I haven’t had the opportunity to sample their food, but they are located on S. Peters right next to Pie. So it has to be great! Right!!!

With a dozen friends all at a convention in New Orleans, we stumble upon this nearly empty bar. It was dark and cozy and peaceful. The music was the right volume and the drinks were perfect. Actually, for those who don’t have a standard drink I would say that the drinks were a notch above perfect. You see, the bartender, Jeff, engaged us immediately and through the course of a few hours put up with our banter and substandard requests. He clearly took pride to a new level when it comes to pouring, shaking, stirring and garnishing his mixes. We stayed so long we ordered a bunch of tacos and nachos. The food was terrific. In fact, my group, this group, liked ambiance so much we went back for the next two nights in a row. That’s right in the heart of the Crescent City with Bourbon Street, Canal Street and the French Quarter blocks away we chose this tiny little bar.

It’s against my policy to leave one star for a business due to one rotten employee but this experience was just Bad. Mr Mixologist Jeff really brought the place down on Halloween. Anywhere else will be a better bet if this dweeb is working. Yep, big party of drinkers with cash in hand strolls in on Halloween night around 9ish. Cash. Service industry people who tip. Jeff is clearly bummed. His night of reading Schopenhauer by barlight and contemplating the nothingness of his bellybutton lint was blown by stupid effin customers aka us. Jeff was butthurt by our paying presence and he let it be known. Immediately. We’re a happy group and were ready to drink, have some fun and go on our way. No one arrived drunk — and thanks to Jeff’s turtle like reflexes, no one left drunk either. No one was obnoxious(cep’t Jeff), we were performing next door and were in professional mode(unlike Jeff) but we wanted cocktails between sets, we were not in a rush, were were not in a hurry. And neither was Jeff. He made of point of serving each person one at a time, usually out of order, ignoring people who had been waiting for as long as possible. In the most useless display of time management I’ve ever seen in a bartender, he refused to mix two drinks at once. Not«hey make me a zombie and some other complicated BS you never heard of at the same time» but a refusal to make 2 dark and stormys at the same time. It’s on the drinks menu, Jeff is supposedly a bartender. Jeff does not know how to mix two drinks at once. If he doesn’t know how to double a recipe, he’s a crappy bartender. If he just didn’t want to: He’s definitely a crappy bartender. The capper was when Jeff served rancid orange juice to a customer, she politely asked him to make another and he made a HUGE show of getting a straw and testing it, because the customer is always wrong. Jeff was clearly disappointed that it was so rancid that he couldn’t even force himself to swallow it. He grudgingly made a different drink. And then continued to be himself. So, pass on this place. Rancid juice, slow service, intentionally poor attitude. YUCK
