Take Hwy 97 south to the Paulina/East Lake turnoff and head east several miles, watch for the left turn at Ogden Group Camp and head to the trail head. This easy hike follows the Paulina Creek all the way to Paulina Lake, if you want to hike that far. If not, then 2 ¾ miles takes you to McKay Camp area where we sat, had our picnic lunch and enjoyed the afternoon. There are small waterfalls along the way and the sound of the water is wonderful. As it had rained the night before the trail was not dusty and nice to walk on — I imagine in the hot summer the trail might be dusty. There are remnants of horses along the way, so watch you step. There are plenty of meadows to see along the creek and if you wanted to stop along the way there are plenty of chances to take photos. At McKay Camp there is a nice waterfall. From here, if you choose, the next piece of the hike is 7 miles to Paulina Lake. We hiked another mile and found the water slides!!! We will definately be back this summer to try them. This is a very nice hike for any age. It’s not difficult at all.
