Hotel has recently been updated. Everything is clean and fresh. The exercise room is full of brand new equipment. The bathrooms are all new. There is wifi accessible throughout the property. The breakfast is typical Hampton. This morning we had fresh strawberries, melon and pineapple. All excellent. The main course alternates between western of lets and scrambled eggs. Waffles always available. At 5:30 beer and munchies are served. It is a bit expensive, but then again you are in the middle of oil country in an oil boom. A nice comfortable clean place to stay.

I stayed here for a few days with a group of people for work. We work long hours and usually pretty late. The rooms were nice, the beds are comfortable and the bathroom is spacious. There is a mini fridge which I appreciate because I can rarely get up in time for the breakfast served, which leads me to my biggest complaint about the place: The Breakfast. Though they provide you with lots of options, someone who is trying to eat healthy and vegetarian will have a big problem here. Mainly that they provide the following: Omelets: they look factory made, and since they dont grow on a tree, they aint right for me Potatoes: fried brown, not a healthy option Cereals: You have to eat those with milk, no thanks Pastries: get real «Fresh» fruit: The fruit, the one thing I really wanted, had actually gone bad, as if it had been sitting there for days! gross! So aside from their food, the actual hotel part of it wasnt bad. Some people take issue with the lack of wifi. I use my smart phone, so unless Im not getting service, thats not much of a problem for me. However I think that it should pretty much be a given that free wifi is a part of the hotel experience these days.

–3 stars — for no wifi anywhere but the lobby. Room internet is through a short ethernet cord. This is 2011 and I can’t get wifi in my room for $ 160 per night? Not even the option to pay for it?! –1 star — for stuffy exercise room with no weights. It was hot and muggy. –1 star — for various areas that need an update. Room Chair that is worn out and uncomfortable(this is where you have to sit to use the internet). Lobby TV that would be cool in a dive bar. Room couch with frayed edges. +1 star — for free beer and wine, and a pretty complete breakfast +1 star — for nice staff Most of the people I’ve talked to at free beer happy hour are in LaPlace for the Martin School or they are doing something for the nearby refineries. Overall not terrible experience but not what I’d expect at this price point.

Just fine as Hampton Inns go… with one big difference… FREEBEER nightly downstairs. ‘Nuff said.
