$ 6.99 all you can eat fresh lunch hibachi! leave the overpriced buffets alone. Found this while in town getting my tires done.

My family had another outstanding meal and experience at this restaurant. I highly recommend for a casual dinner night out.

We were feeling under-vegetabled on our road trip, so came for dinner on the strength of the other Unilocal reviews. They were right-on. Décor is nothing special, but the food was just what we hoped for. Lots of well-prepped fresh veggies, and a wide variety of meats, seafood, noodles, and sauce ingredients. They also had hard-boiled eggs. There were a few salad ingredients, as well as a bit of fruit and a few sweets. We skipped those, but enjoyed the good dip-your-own hard ice cream, four different flavors available. This is a really hard-to-beat option for a healthy and inexpensive meal.

Love having this restaurant in this area. We really enjoy being able to choose your own food and sauces the way you want it. Kids also enjoy the ice cream at the end of the meal :)

Great find on our road trip. Lots of fresh veggies and meats/seafoods to choose from. And making my sauce was fun — so many spices and add-ins to pick from. I’m sorry we don’t live closer.

This the Flat Top look alike of LaSalle. People were super friendly. They had a large variety of veggies to put in your stir fry– along with many sauces and meats. A nice thing that came with your meal is the buffet too(also have a dessert buffet). I may go back. It’s difficult because I keep comparing them to Flat Top and they aren’t quite the same. I’d prefer Flat Top but the closest one is Bloomington/Normal or Peoria.

This is one of my all time favorite places in the Illinois Valley. The food is fresh and you get to pick out exactly the ingredients and flavor you want your dish to have. Making the sauce is my favorite, I always make something spicy and garlic heavy with a citrus zip and peanuts! It is one of the very few places in the area you can get decent vegetarian food, and not just decent, you have a large selection! They have like five different types of noodles, a ton of fresh veggies, fresh tofu, and eggs. You could even go vegan in there without sacrificing flavor or fun! The value is incredible and… drumroll please… it is BYOB! MY friend and I brought in a bottle of wine the other day to drink with dinner and it was so delightful. The bad reviews of this place are complete hogwash. I can’t recommend it highly enough.

I have been to this place so many times the food is amazing. The staff is friendly and their prices are very reasonable. I recommend going here when you’re hungry

A nice little business that seems to be the only thing open on the weekends in the giant urban sprawl of LaSalle, IL! Ok, I’m just kidding, this is a tiny little town. but even though the décor is a bit grungy and could use Genghis Khan’s calvary to gallop through with scrub brushes attached to their backsides, it is a solid deal! Think flat tops in an odd rural setting run by «Mom ‘n Pop» Chinese peeps. Our server was very friendly and welcoming, and took the time to explain everything to us… and she even urged us to go back for seconds! The meat wasn’t of the same quality as I’m used to from similar places, but then again, those places aren’t in the middle of nowhere… nor are they this affordable. v-a-l-u-e, eff those fast food places, come here instead!

Very nice place to eat, considering it is a Mongolian bbq in the middle of no where! You can’t compare it to BDs or anything but for the price you pay it is a great place to eat. You do make your own bowl, with soup, salad and some dessert. For the price they charge it is very cheap. Food quality is not in par with big cities, but it is pretty good for the area. The décor was out dated. Our waitress was trying to be nice. She could have explained the rules like they do in big cities. We enjoyed our lunch there yesterday, we are planning to go back there for dinner sometime.

Place has been great to us when we have gone. Amazing value! Food was great and I am simply amazed by their selection. Could be a little nicer inside and service a little better but the food makes up for it!

I really loved this place. I tried it out one night because I ate a similar place in Grayslake so I wanted to try this place out too because I loved the other place so much. I liked the concept of picking out what you want and putting it in your bowl and then getting it cooked and put on a plate for you. It is a good way to monitor what is put in your food and low in fat if you don’t go crazy with the sauces and red meat. I will be going back when I am in LaSalle again and hungry. I like Number 1 too though so I may be indecisive and not know what to do. Both are cheap and very good food!

After hiking at Starved Rock we(6 of us) did a Google search and came up with GKMG and headed over there on a lark. Talk about a gem! The hostess was very friendly and really made us feel welcome. We each had 2 helpings of stir fry that was exactly comparable to Flat Top Grill in Chicago. That’s a huge compliment if you’ve ever been to FT. There was lamb, chicken, beef, ribeye, pork, shrimp, scallops, sausage, salmon, and I’m sure I’m forgetting one or two others. The end result was absolutely delicious. The restaurant was spacious and very clean. The price made our eyes bulge — in a GOOD way! Such a great dinner on a chilly day. Will definitely make this a part of every trip to Starved Rock going forward.

My family & I had an absolutely perfect lunch experience! All you can eat $ 5.99 lunch or $ 7.99 for dinner. Our family will definitely come back! Places like these are so rare, if not non-existant, in La Salle county. It’s a fresh and healthy Asian menu buffett style but you pick your own ingredients right down to the sauces, spices, meats, and veggies. You hand your bowl off to the cook where he cooks it right in front of you stir-fry style on a big, flat grill. The only thing the cook adds is water. So, pick your oils and sauces well! I did! They’ve got a full salad bar, a hot noodle bar, a meats bar, a fruit & dessert bar, and a sauces-n-spices bar. The meats: chicken, beef, lamb, sausage, pork; The seafood: scallops, shrimp, salmon, squid, oysters; and tons of fresh veggies on the salad bar like carrots, mushrooms, water chestnuts, bok choy, baby corn, snap peas, bean sprouts, broccoli, etc. I’ve never seen such a fresh selection of veggies at at buffet!!! The tofu squares were awesome too! They also have a yougurt and ice cream bar for dessert. They use the freshest and healthiest ingredients, the food is low-fat and fresh, so, it’s very very tasty. The restaurant was spotless – silverware, floors, tables, washroom. The service? INCREDIBLE. They kept coming back to our table, refreshing our drinks, clearing our table, smiling, always smiling. They are sooo sweet & friendly in there! They do to-go orders too. Kids 3−5yrs old eat for $ 2.50 lunch or $ 4.50 dinner. Kids 6−10yrs old eat $ 3.95 lunch & $ 5.99 dinner. They run Mon-Sun 11:00am — 9:00pm.(9:30pm Fri-Sat). Don’t Miss!

I agree with everyone except James, and I have no idea what happened when he went… we had a really good experience, great service and pretty darn good food… hint: put your veggies in the bowl first and noodles in last. they take up the most room so keep them on top… love the sauces they have. but kind of missed egg drop soup but can’t complain… will go back again!!!

I’ve had Mongolian Grill before. This place is about average as far as Mongolian Grill goes. But, the service is friendly, and the prices are reasonable. Don’t know what happened to James L. that Saturday night, but I never experienced dirty food or an empty buffet in the two times I’ve been here. I plan to go back again and bring friends. We’re lucky to have this place in the IL Valley. Insider tip 1: If you are hungry, pick your grill items, drop them off, then go eat a salad while they are cooking. Insider tip 2: The chef loves to share corny jokes!

I’ve been to this restaurant over on first street in La Salle 4 times since it has opened. Every single time I’ve had delicious food and fairly fast service. The waiters weren’t the best, but they were nice and fast. As for cleanliness, the restaurant it’s self is clean, its just old. The plates were clean, the silverware was clean, the drinks were good. The wide array of options to choose from there was fantastic, I loved choosing the different seasonings and sauces. As for the reviews above, I think many of them are very harsh and full of vitriol. At the very worst I’d give them 4, maybe I’m too lenient who knows.

For $ 7.99(for dinner) you grab a large bowl, fill it with as much as you want/can, mix up your own unique sauce concoction, hand it off to one of the cooks, and walk away with a plate of something uniquely your own. Part of the fun is going with multiple people, like I did, and seeing what everyone else chose and sampling their stir fry to get future ideas for what to make. Just beware to take only what you think you can eat – the bowls hold more than they appear and you can’t take your leftovers home. For such a simple concept, there were many more options than I thought there would be. Particularly impressive to me was the meat/seafood station – not only did they have the standard beef, chicken, pork, and shrimp, but they also had squid, tiny scallops, fish, Asian sausage, Spam, and even lamb. No matter what you pick, everything looked impressively fresh. Usually at places that offer this kind of thing, I see wilted/browned/dried out vegetables and some sad looking meats, but not here. The sauce station is impressive in its own right and likely intimidating. There’s over a dozen sauce options between pre-made sauces(Korean BBQ, General Tso’s, Kung Pao, sweet & sour, teriyaki, oyster sauce, etc.) and ingredients to build your own from scratch or enhance the pre-made options(soy sauce, sesame oil, chopped garlic, vinegars, lemon juice, etc.) and just as many for dry spices. Really wish they offered curry powder and toasted sesame seeds, though. Just be careful with this as it would be very easy to make something you may not like. They also offer steamed rice or tortillas for your meal. Optional, but this way you could easily skip adding noodles to your stir fry and get the rice or use the various seasonings at the sauce station and make your own fajita filling, for example. And when you’re done with your stir fry, you can return and check out the salad/dessert offerings. Pretty standard stuff(the usual salad fixings, puddings, canned fruit, a couple of fresh fruit options like melon, and ice cream). Overall – friendly service, and pretty tasty food for a reasonable price. Also of note is that, unless you add some kind of oil to your sauce, they don’t actually appear to cook the food with any. The food is thrown on the grill and the only thing added is water and your bowl of sauce. With the right options, this seems like a pretty healthy option as far as dining out goes.
