Went for lunch on Mothers Day. Small restaurant with not the greatest parking. We seated ourselves and it was awhile before our waitress got to us. I am not sure they were used to this much business. They were also very slow to check us out. That being said, the waitress was very friendly. The food was excellent. Two of our party had fish sandwiches, one a BLT, and I had the hot roast beef. Everything was good and portions were large. We would definitely come back when in the area again.

I had the chicken sandwich, my husband had the large fish sandwich, our son had the crab cake sandwich. All were fantastic. Fast friendly service, fresh delicious food, ample portions, and nice prices. We don’t live close, but we pass through this area several times a year, and now we have a great place to stop. Do yourselves a favor and skip the chains and drive thru’s.

The Filling Station is a fun place with great food and easy atmosphere. The music is 1970s pop rock(Sirius?) streamed in. My wife laughs while I sing along with the songs. The food is very good, well-executed home cooking. Everything is freshly prepared and yummy. Their fries are fresh cut, properly soaked, etc. They are excellent. My only difficulty is that their hamburgers appear to use the same ground beef mix as their spaghetti meatballs. That is, the consistency is like that of a meatball and they have a strong garlic tone. They need to fix that because it does not work well for their burgers. A hamburger is not a flattened meatball. It is kid-friendly from wait-staff to food. We’ve been there several times and never left wondering if we’d be back. Oh! And, they have Dr. Pepper in cans, diet and regular… that’s so rare and nice. You’ll be glad you gave it a chance. Next to the big green dollar sign on Old National Highway.
