Dollar Cab

I called for service on a Sunday morning, to retrieve my car from the night before. The person who took the call said it would take the driver 45 minutes to get to my house. That’s a long wait but I wasn’t in a hurry so I agreed. After 50 minutes the dispatcher called and said the cab would be another 30 minutes, but did not offer any explanation as to why. At this point I began wondering how many more time extensions are these guys going to request and if I’m EVER going to get picked up. The dispatcher said he could recommend another service that might be faster. I said I could do that, or could have done that myself with much greater efficiency… and hung up. I’ll never call them for service again. The next service I called (RediCab) gave great, prompt, friendly service.

I’ve taken dollar cab once before because they had a coupon. They were late picking me up by about 10 – 15 minutes and so I was late to my dentist appointment.
Tonight, however, was even worse. Because of the inclement weather we decided to call a cab instead of driving downtown.
10:41pm– first call. William (who I think is the owner) said 20 – 25 minutes. Which sucked, but we figured we could hang out a little longer.
11:12pm– After 30 minutes, we called back to check on the status. He said 5 – 10 minutes and everyone was getting antsy so we decided to give driving a try. We cancelled the cab, and quickly realized that driving was impossible after the car got stuck twice in the driveway.
11:17pm– Call again to ask for a cab. William says 10 – 15 minutes.
11:45pm– I feel bad for harassing them but we are all annoyed now by the blatant lying about the time so my roommate called to see what the holdup was. William says he will check on the cab and call her back.
11:52pm– He doesn’t call her back, so she calls and he says 10 minutes. We cancel the cab and go to sleep.
Totally annoying, and not even a real apology for how innacurate the wait times were. I would have been more understanding if he had told us wrong once, but it was completely off base. The coupons are not worth waiting forever for a cab that may or may not show up.
