I’ve shopped at Las Palmas only two times. I mainly went in to by beer, mexican cheeses, and tortilla chips. Today, being my second time, I picked up chips, beer, Mexican Coke, and at the last minute, salsa roja. I am glad I went back for the salsa. It is hands down, the best salsa I have ever purchased, and quite possibly the best I’ve eaten. I completely recommend checking this place out. The meat at this place looks fresh and of good quality. Honestly for such a small store, it is packed with endless goodies!

This is a good place to go to get authentic food. It is not as cheap as you would expect… the setting is inside of a grocery store with no real atmosphere to speak of. Food on paper plates and plastic utensils. It was 18.00 for two burritos and two sides of beans and rice. Not a total rip but not a great deal either.

Get a taco of every kind! They are all really good! I’d give 5 stars but they need to invest in making the place more like a restaurant and not a grocery store. They really need to decide. Grocery store or restaurant.

I think some people avoid ethnic grocery stores because there is an vibe of unfamiliarity in the air. I would advise these people to take a chance and just let your senses take over. Some may be please and other unappealing but as the kids say«you only live once» unless you die and they bring you back with the paddles and resuscitation and such. I digress, you should try a look around this carniceria and tienda or meat & grocery store even if you don’t buy anything or don’t know how to speak spanish. They’ve got things that even the english speaker can recognize like meat, cookies, cakes, candies, trinkets, phone cards, soda pop, etc. I like to get the candies and cakes… kind of a sweet junky. The place is organized fairly well for those who probably know what they’re going in for. If your recipe calls for a type of meat you have no idea where you’re going to get it, try Las Palmas Jarochas. I don’t speak spanish and the people in the store are really nice and are happy to explain things to you. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is, like Phở Vy which is right next door, the parking is bad. There are angled spots right next to the spots that face the store front. It’s kind of difficult to come right off Sleater-Kinney and not be able to swing into the parking lot because people are backing up. In addition the parking lot is one way. There are additional spots in the back of Phở Vy and since the Cancun restaurant went out of business, one can use those spots as well. The handicap spots are not marked really well either. Check this place out though.

I found this little hidden spot right next to Phở Vy. We almost didn’t go in to check it out, but I am so happy we did because we found lots of awesome things in here. Coming from SoCal, I need my Mexican food. And since NONE of the restaurants really impress me(and are super expensive!) I’ve resorted to making my own Mexican food. This place has every kind of meat imaginable for Mexican cuisine AND isn’t a ripoff. The salsa is KILLER(read spicy as shit but amazeballs), and the people inside were really nice and cool. The triple bonus was finding frozen chocolate dipped bananas in coconut shavings or nuts. I don’t know how this place knew what my favorite dessert EVER was, but they earned a special place in my heart. And I will be back for more.
