It’s a great recent development to have a brewery practically in your backyard. It’s a dream come true to have a top notch brewery practically in your backyard. Living within mere minutes of Top Rung Brewery which has a family-friendly environment in addition to world-class beer is as if I found a magic lamp; made my 2 wishes; and then after the third wish, Top Rung Brewery appeared. I love this place. I love the people that run this brewery. I love the people from my community that choose to spend time and their hard earned money there. You all rock!

I tried the stout and the CDA. My husband and I each had a pint of the CDA and left with a growler of the stout. We were able to sample to decide on what we were going to drink. The brewery is kid friendly(super bonus in my book). There isn’t any food(I bet you can bring your own, but don’t quote me on that), but they list nearby takeout and have food carts on occasion that they list when available. There are a few games and some coloring books. Very clean. Very nice. Well done!!!

Every beer I sampled was very good to excellent. Not one of them was not drinkable. The staff was friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend it. A hidden gem.

An excellent brewery that I didn’t even know about until I did a random Google search to see if there were any breweries that were reasonably close that we didn’t know about. Gee, thanks brewery guide! We got a pale ale here and it was so good Steve and I had to get the same thing. The citrus hops stood up and said, «Hello» to our pallets. At the same time the flavor was not too overwhelming either. Looking forward to going back!

I grew up in this area and am originally from Lacey. When I found out after moving back from overseas that my growing(but still modest) home town had opened a brewery, I was excited like no other. I decided after a morning of outdoor activities with my siblings that this would be a good place to try, since microbrews are always a good option after being outdoors for half of the day. I decided to go with the IPA, Stout and Amber on tap. The IPA wasn’t very memorable, but the Stout and Amber were top notch. Top Rung also had a food truck outside that offered tasty greasy fare to go with our beers. We also were able to order pizza from Brewery City, and Top Rung had the number available to us. Top Rung was definitely a fun spot, especially in a town where Microbrews haven’t really sprouted up yet. The tables are big, they offer board games and it was a relaxing place to sit and hang out for a few hours without feeling the need to leave fast. Also, Brittany, who was tending the bar area is a total sweetheart. If you decide to make your way to Top Rung, and you get Brittany, make sure to tip her well, because she definitely deserves it.

Good brewery south of tacoma! The beers were good and I liked the atmosphere. I had a pale which was good. There were ladders and other fireman themed decorations. If I were down south of tacoma, I would stop here again!

My husband had his birthday here and we went today to watch the game. This is and will continue to be our favorite spot! Its just so comfy like your chilling at home. Any place where you can hang out, have a bite of food plus a great glass of bear while your kids are having fun playing the board games is a winner for us! There are to many nice hang out spots that allow your children to come with you so I love this place. It will also be our date night getaway spot too. My husband is a firefighter so him and his friends love it here. We only live about 2 mins away which makes it even better for us. #1 favorite part is you can bring in your own food too. My kids are picky so being able to bring food for them is awesome. Me and my husband really love it here and there aren’t to many places we both agree on lol … So I recommend this place to everyone, just stop by and try a beer, favorite is «trash pumpkin»! Great service, great people, good time!

Sorry Top Rung — time to bring you down a notch. Of all the craft brew in the local area, this is some of the worst I have had. Top Rung is an out of the way brewery located in a business park in a strange part of Lacey. There is nothing nearby and parking was difficult. The place serves no food, but has strange food trucks come by each night and serve whatever’s cooking. The night we went it was lousy Cajun food. We got our beers — the blonde came in a strange glass and tasted like the bottom of a keg of Miller from college. The IPA was only slightly better. The place was poorly decorated, too bright, and the music was never at the right volume. Lacey — stop trying to be cool. Just make the drive to Tacoma and Olympia.

A great new addition to the area! I went last week and was very impressed. I am a bit of a beer snob, and I was very relieved and impressed to find that the beer was excellent. Both the stout and the CDA were very well-balanced, clean, tasty beers. The stout had a great balance between a little malty sweetness and the black roasted malt. Not overly hopped either. It would be an ideal session beer for anyone into dark beers. The CDA was obviously hoppier with a nice creamy head and good hop aroma. Bitter but certainly not overpowering in terms of the hop bitterness. Aside from the quality beer, this place has a great atmosphere. Often it can be a challenge to make a brewery(which is industrial by nature) into a comfortable hangout, but they did a good job. The tasting room is designed to promote socializing with two massive picnic-style tables that could seat quite a few. There are also some smaller tables as well. It is tastefully decorated, and the beer was served by one of the brewers himself. They have some really nice custom pint glasses too. There are games for all ages, making it family friendly. The night we were there, there was a table set up in the back serving bar type food(nachos, hot dogs, chili), plus they welcome you to order from local restaurants. There was a very local, family-owned vibe to the place, given the people who were apparently the owners were the ones working at the bar. My only main regret is that it is not closer to my house, but that is not their problem! I’m sure I’ll still make many visits during the rainy winter months.

Continuing to amaze me! Now they’re open on Thursdays and planning on changing it up every Thursday with a little extra flavoring to one beer. Today was a coffee and cocoa addition to the stout! Delicious !
