We had a toilet clog up and water was backing up into the bathtub. I tried for ½ an hour to clear the clog with no luck. Yelm Plumbing was the only company in the area that answered on a Sunday evening. The lady on the phone was friendly and told me that they had two teams currently out but they would be able to come by that evening. She told me that there was a $ 40 service fee and the plumbers would provide me with a written estimate before starting work. Sounded great to me… especially on a Sunday evening. The plumbers arrived, were friendly and professional, and after a short look around the septic tank quickly diagnosed the problem. That’s when they told me it was going to cost $ 420 to clear the main line. I balked initially at the cost, but they said their camera was going to show what the cause of the problem was which would help us figure out if there was a bigger problem. At that point I agreed to the job and they proceeded to begin. As they started work the plumber told me that the camera was broken but they were going to clear the line anyway. It took them all of about 30 seconds to clear the clog, but I had no further information on what the cause might have been because the camera was broken. They insisted on charging full price and wouldn’t even budge when I suggested using their company to come back and pump the tank. So…I paid $ 420 + $ 40 service call and of course tax. Almost $ 500 to snake the main line which took merely a few minutes. No camera to show me what the real problem might have been as they promised, and what I agreed to in the $ 420 estimate. In conclusion, the plumbers arrived quickly on a Sunday evening, they were friendly and professional, and they fixed my immediate problem. However, their prices are exorbitant and they fell through on what they agreed to do in the estimate and refused to adjust the bill accordingly — even when I was willing to give them more business! Unless you are in dire straits, look elsewhere for a plumber.

We had a plumbing emergency yesterday after our teenager flushed a mound of TP and dog droppings in the upstairs bath. The whole system backed up into our downstairs tub. We called Yelm Plumbing on a Saturday in a panic. They were friendly and helpful. They said they could have a tech out within an hour and the usual service call fee of $ 39 was being waived right now if you donated 5 non-perishable food items. We had called another plumbing company and they wanted $ 175 after hours charge to come out and wouldn’t be able to give an estimated arrival time. The tech arrived within 30 mins and was friendly and helpful. He found the problem and fixed it quickly. The whole event was way less painful and less expensive than we expected. You know you’re dealing with a quality company when they don’t gouge you for emergency service but, to have a company give you a significant discount for charity is an indicator of a company that cares about the whole community. I highly recommend Yelm plumbing.
