Rumor has it that they have great hot dogs. My expectations were set very high by my brother who is a connoisseur of a good dog. Overall, very nicely done. The dogs have a «snappy» skin when one bites into them. The fried foods and shakes are good too.

I had no idea where I might be eating one Saturday afternoon half way through a 4 hour drive; I barely knew where I was. Then I saw the quintessential Vienna Beef sign and it was clear I had to stop at Mr. Mikes Place.
I ordered a beef, sweet and hot for myself and my companion ordered a loaded Chicago Dog. I stumbled on the drink order and the little man with lots of character about him taking my order was visibly annoyed, which cracked me up. ;)
Everything was great. The small counter allowed me to get my lean on to eat my samich. I hope I never find myself driving through central IL again but if I do I’m stopping at Mr. Mike’s Place
