I like this place a lot but today when I went in, they charged me $ 8.23 for a grilled cheese, which is $ 4.99, I asked for cheese sauce on the fries and got billed 2.99 extra for waffle fries which I didn’t receive, just regular fries with cheese on them, (they come with the sandwich so I’m not sure why I was charged so much for just cheese), on top of that because I asked for a swiss cheese sandwich, for I which was charged an additional .25 cents because I wanted swiss and not American ?! Not sure what’s going on but was more than a bit annoyed about it. The food was okay, nothing outstanding.

We visited prior to pumpkin festival. The fish chowder was tepid and had bones, the corn chowder was watery and also barely warm. Nothing was hot. A big disappointment.

Whenever I come to visit I must come here at least once. I always get the same thing.
Home fries (nobody makes them like soda shoppe) grilled cheese sandwich & fried dough balls (you MUST try these yummy things!)
It just feels like home! & the prices are still good!

Best home fries grilled or deep fried. Killer country fried steak! AYCE FRIDAY HADDOCK! Easy parking in parking garage. Normal stop for me and coworkers now.

Wonderful place to start the day off. Irish eggs Benedict is the best benny anywhere. I have other food there as well but can’t help from ordering Irish eggs Benny day and night

Great food and furnishings. Lived nearby for awhile and have always shied away because of it’s «business» exterior but once inside the rough sawn boards that clad the walls made me feel right at home. Ordered some hash and eggs with homefries and a stack of pancakes.

During my year working at the soda shop, I saw many health offenses. For example, I saw my previous manager serve a customer moldy French toast. Other times i saw mice, at a total 5. The current owner smokes pot while cooking. It’s a shame, the restaurant was one of the best in the lakes region.

I went here a couple of weeks ago with a friend for lunch on a Friday. The special was a clam roll for $ 7.99. It was the best clam roll I could ever remember eating. It was packed full of whole belly clams on a grilled roll. The onion rings were fabulous as well. The fish chowder was a little sub-​par but I can overlook that. No better bang for the buck. Highly recommended.

Went here with the girlfriend’s family and was pleasantly surprised. I’m usually not a fan of mom-​and-​pop diners, but the food here was great. I’ve only been once, so I can’t really qualify what other folks are saying, but I liked the food. The homefries, eggs and bacon were all spectacular and everyone in my party seemed to enjoy their meal. The family has been to this location half a dozen times and seems to list it as a favorite, so maybe other reviewers just came on a bad day. I’d definitely return.

Absolutely disgusting food. Even the food served to prisoners probably would taste better that the so called buffalo chicken sandwich I ordered. It was literally a thawed frozen misc chicken parts patty with franks buffalo sauce on it served soggy and luke warm on a cheap burger bun. You would think they would at least have served a real chicken breast on there for 8 bucks. We ended up returning the food and going to eat elsewhere.

If I could give it less than one, I would have. This place was filthy and the food was bad. There were flies around our table the entire time. I went with my family and the only thing that was decent were the French fries. I had an open face roast beef sandwhich. The bread wasn’t toasted, the roast beef was cold and salty and the corn was cold also.
I remember visiting this place when I was a kid in the late 70’s. I think they still had the same carpet and chairs as then.

This is such a cute place (diner or coffee shop style) with great food and very nice employees! We had the corn chowder, kids mini cheeseburgers, chef salad, and a tuna melt — everyone was happy with their meal!
We then went back a second time — the patty melt was excellent and my husband had an Italian sausage sandwich that he said was great. Next time will come back for ice cream too! I wish this place was in my home town!!! The prices were very reasonable as well.

I have been very disappointed with this Restaurant lately, it used to be my favorite place in town to grab lunch, bust lately with the new management it has gone down hill big time. Sanitation wise and the quality of the food you get has appeared to have sank over time. It is such a shame.

I love this place quick mom and pop food, the only thing I don’t like is because its seat your self the servers don’t always see you and in one case I waited a long time but was seen and another time I left cause I wasn’t greater at all.

I went to the Soda Shoppe for lunch once last week and once the week before. I wish there was a 3 ½ stars option in Unilocal because I think the Soda Shoppe is slightly better than 3 stars but not really at 4.
The service is quick and the wait staff is willing to hand out seperate checks for your party without any hassle at all. The menu is typical of a diner and they serve breakfast all day. The food is good quality for the money.

Three words: Banana Pancakes (and) homefries.
If you’re a Lakes Region local who ventures away from home, you’ve almost certainly been here. Everyone loves it. Breakfast is my favorite, but I know their club sandwiches are the favorite of a lot of people.
It’s pretty much the best restaurant in the universe.

Small Dinner fair in downtown Laconia. I went for breakfast. Food is average for the most part, with the home fries slightly above average. The décor and furniture could use an update. I might have given this another star, but the coffee was terrible, weak and tasted like dishwater. Almost undrinkable.
