Aikikai Tanshinjuku Aikido

I’ve enjoyed the immense good fortune to know and train with Izawa Sensei and Tanshinjuku students for more than five years. Izawa Sensei’s technique is very strong and clean, and he teaches from his deep understanding of Aikido from a decades-​long commitment to training. Izawa Sensei is a true ambassador; he walks the talk of building the inclusive community of Aikido. He and his students are welcoming and helpful. I recommend his dojo to anyone looking for a dojo in the north Denver metro area.

Our 17yr old son has been training with Izawa Sensei and his teachers for about 5 years. As a family, we are very impressed with the integrity, skill, compassion, understanding, kindness and encouragement with which they are able to teach this graceful art. My experience is that this Dojo maintains a healthy perspective between the realities of family, school and martial arts. We are grateful for his teaching!

I have trained with Izawa sensei and Tanshinjuku over the last six years. They have a great program and the Aikido is very strong and dynamic. Great Aikido school. I’ve trained in Aikido for 24 years and find this school to be a rare gem. Izawa Sensei and all of the teachers are humble, friendly and highly skilled. If you are looking for quality instruction and true martial spirit you’ve found the right place!

I’m a beginner Aikido practitioner and wasn’t sure what to expect when I came here. I was pleasantly surprised by how warm and inviting the instructors and all my classmates have been. Izawa Sensei and Furuya Sensei are both skillful, knowledgeable and patient teachers as is evidenced by the fact that our class is made up of beginners like myself to highly experience black belts ranging in age from 14 – 72. Practicing here is a joy!

Izawa Sensei is extremely welcoming and the dojo has a nice mix beginners and experienced people.
The instructor is highly knowledge and takes great care with his instruction. The class is often broken out into separate groups for beginners and experienced people, so that everyone can learn at their own place, but generally everyone trains together so we can learn as a community.

I have belonged to several Aikido dojos of different styles over the years. Despite coming from a different style, I was very openly and warmly welcomed here by both the instructors and students. There is a lot of patience shown as I, and others, learn new techniques.
Izawa sensei is very approachable and gives lots of individual attention to his students. He provides good instruction but then allows plenty of time for students to deepen in practicing the techniques. He often does progressions with increasing intensity after a warming up period, so both new students and veterans wind up having lots of fun. Beginners are taught separately when appropriate.
It is serious Aikido but in a very warm and fun environment. I recommend this dojo highly for beginners and veterans alike.
